Chapter 14

Mr. Goodwin saw no problem with this. Even if Jamie turned out to be a member of the Ashford family. He can be escorted off this yacht if he doesn't have the invitation card.

A waiter was tasked to pass this information to Tyson who finally relaxed after being given a way to chase this annoying kid out of here.

He pointed at Jamie. “You piece of trash! Since you have no invitation card, I'll evict you like the garbage that you are!’

He quickly signaled to the bodyguards from his Crook family. “Men beat this pisser up and throw him overboard. I wanna see if he can negotiate with the sharks!”

Sonia was pissed off. “What the hell? You can't just…”

Tyson suddenly turned to the Reynold brothers, Seth, and Danny. “Hold those two ladies down!”

The four young men were more than happy to obey Tyson's orders. They utilized their physical strength to prevent Sinus and Stacy from saving Jamie.

Jamie, on the other hand, smirked with a cold stare. “Already taking action against me without verification first. How pathetic.”

As the ten Crook family's bodyguards rushed towards their target, the five bodyguards around Jamie effectively intercepted them.

A battle ensued, but to everyone's surprise, it ended within seconds.

Everyone was surprised by how incredibly easily Jamie's bodyguards had taken down a group of opponents twice their number.

At this point, it was hard to believe that Jamie's bodyguards were just actors he paid to play a role.

Tyson couldn't believe this, and neither could those who were on his side, including his parents.

One of the bodyguards sneered at Tyson, before passing out an order. “Show yourselves!”

The other four bodyguards around Joe replied before they suddenly took off their suit coat and wore it inside out.

Not only did Jamie's bodyguards reveal that they were wearing double-sided coats, but they also revealed the insignia on the other side.

The audience, of course, took notice.

“Holy shit! That's the Ashford Protection Crest!”

“Yeah, I've seen it before! It's really them!”

Mr. Goodwin was stunned. “This….Those bodyguards belong to the lower faction of the AS99 organization! Fuck! Am I in trouble?! Forget the invitation, just seeing the identity of these bodyguards is enough to guarantee Jamie a place at this event. I should have verified before allowing your son to cause trouble!”

Mr. & Mrs. Crooks were shocked as well, not expecting this kind of revelation to happen.

Regardless of which faction they were dealing with, the AS99 organization was not something even someone as powerful as them could dare to mess with.

Despite Jamie's identity still not officially proven, the fact that these AS99 bodyguards were here was more than enough to show him respect.

Mr. Goodwin quickly cleared his throat, adjusted his suit, and walked forward with a professional smile and a chuckle to ease the tension in the air.

“Welcome! Welcome to this birthday event, gentlemen! On behalf of the Goodwin family, I apologize to you, gentlemen, for causing so much ruckus. We wouldn't dare mess with the AS99 organization.”

The bodyguard in charge remained stoic as he replied to Mr. Goodwin. “You claim you wouldn't dare mess with us, and yet, that is exactly what you've allowed these people to do. How should the AS99 organization take up this matter with your family, Mr. Goodwin.”

Fear flashed through Mr. Goodwin’s at those words. If the AS99 chose to retaliate against this lengthy disrespect, the Goodwin family is as good as done.

Mr. Goodwin suddenly called his daughter over, glaring at the Reynold brothers, Seth and Danny, to let her go.

He then turned back to the AS99 bodyguards as Sonia joined him in Boeing slightly. “Gentlemen, my daughter actually knows the young man you're protecting.”

Sonia said nothing, only glancing at Jamie.

Seeing this, Jamie could not let the birthday lady be humiliated at her own party. Thus, he walked over to them and finally pulled out the invitation card that his personal assistant, Tom Yates, had given to him.

Seeing that this was the exact invitation card he had sent to the Ashford subordinate, Mr. Goodwin felt immense fear and guilt course through his body.

All those minutes of trying to humiliate Jamie only to find out that he had the invitation card.

The Reynold brothers, Seth, Danny, and Tyson were all overwhelmed by this revelation that Jamie had the invitation card this entire time. 

This meant that they'd been humiliating themselves while believing that they were humiliating Jamie.

Mr. Goodwin could only apologize to Jamie, but then his curiosity had to be satiated. “Forgive me, but how come you're here with a scholarship student of HU and not with the Ashford subordinate?”

The Ashford bodyguard in charge raised an eyebrow, still looking as stoic as ever. “Is this a discussion we should be having out here?”

Mr. Goodwin immediately apologized, and together with Sonia, they led Jamie and the five Ashford bodyguards to a room below deck.

Tyson could only watch with anger. As for the Reynold brothers, Seth, Danny, Amanda, Olivia, and Meghan, they wanted answers to what was going on. Sadly for them, they could only wait patiently.

For now, everyone could only hold on to the liars of questions circulating in their minds.

Below the yacht is a luxuriously designed room. Jamie is seated across the Goodwin father and daughter while his three bodyguards stand behind him. 

As for the remaining two, they were tasked to guard the entrance so no uninvited guests would dare come in there.

Finally, Jamie gave an explanation. “Mr. Goodwin, Sonia, I'm not a member of the Ashford family, neither am I the subordinate you were waiting for. Rather, I'm the representative that the Ashford subordinate sent in his place.”

Mr. Goodwin rightfully asked the next question. “And how did you come to know if such a powerful man, considering that, and no offense, your status is as far apart as Earth from Mars.”

Of course, Jamie was lying to Sonia and his father about not being a member of the Ashford. Thus, he kept feeding them the lies he had cooked up to make everything make sense to them.
