The NeoSoul Charity Gala buzzed with bright lights, soft jazz, and celebrities conversing with themselves. Industry elites wore a beautiful velvet jacket with diamond gowns grazing it. On their hand were champagne which showed under chandeliers luxurious chandeliers.

But all of that faded to background noise as Jaylen stepped onto the stage.

The crowd hushed with a soft sound.

Then, a bright white curtain rose behind him. Mia Lennox was radiant in a sparkling silver dress. She clutched the mic with trembling hands. She projected fake sincerity like she was made for this day.

Jaylen’s system pinged in his mind,

“Quest Progress: Do Not Let the Snake Coil Twice.

Stage Entry Complete.

Setlist Modified

Pending: Expose via Live Remix – Risk: HIGH

Reward: +3 Fame | +1 Talent | +2 PR Nodes.”

The live band struck the intro chords to “Forever Yours,” the duet they had agreed to rehearse. But Jaylen didn't sing the opening line.

Instead, he snapped his fingers once and the music cut.

“What’s going on?” Mia whispered, turning to him. “Stick to the…”

Before she could finish, a digital bass drop shattered the tension. The lights turned blood red.

The opening beat of a remix slammed through the speakers with Jaylen’s version. It sampled “Forever Yours,” but twisted with a tight undertone and layered with a backbeat that oozed dramatically.

Mia blinked. “No. Jaylen, what are you doing?!” She asked in a blink of eyes.

He stepped forward, grabbed the mic, and looked her straight in the eyes.

“This one's for the crowd, for the truth. And for those who think apologies clean up betrayal.” He looked directly into her stunned eyes.

Then, he unleashed.

“She said she was misled, But the text read: ‘Play him, climb instead.’

‘Use the buzz, fake the tears, then sell the duet.’

Girl, this ain’t a comeback. This is a reset.”

Gasps rippled through the room. Mia stood frozen.

Suddenly, screens behind them switched on. Visuals accompanied his lyrics and actual screenshots of DMs. Time-stamped texts between Mia and Blake were added and the PR agent who orchestrated Jaylen’s previous smear campaigns.

Jaylen didn’t stop.

The remix switched tone mid-verse. A bridge section layered audio from a video. It was a secret backstage footage where Mia laughed with Blake about how “pathetic” Jaylen looked after their breakup.

Mia’s eyes widened as her voice echoed through the hall. It was clear and cold,

“He still thinks I loved him. Let’s use the charity to get press. Cry if I have to.”

The crowd gasped as the words played.

Mia backed away from the mic, shaking her head. “This wasn’t part of it, this wasn’t…!”

Jaylen turned to her, finishing the verse with icy calm,

“You wanted a duet? Here’s a remix for betrayal. No curtain call, just a public email.”

She fled off stage. Her shoes clicked wildly as she ran into backstage darkness.

There came a long silence.

The silence quickly broke by some people's gasp as others applauded. Half the crowd rose to their feet. A roar broke out from their lips.

The system buzzed in Jaylen's mind.

“System Notification!!!! Quest Complete: Do Not Let the Snake Coil Twice

Reward: +3 Fame, +1 Talent, +2 PR Nodes Unlocked.

New Passive Skill Gained: Brand Integrity. A Minor immunity to future smear campaigns. Public trust meter increased.”

Jaylen’s vision flared blue with the afterimage of the achievement screen, but he was too focused on the reactions below the stage.

“You actually did it, bro! You nuclear-launched her whole career!” One of his team members intoned.

Jaylen looked past the crowd to the back where industry executives were seated. Some whispered frantically and others wrote notes. One even typed something on his tablet, clearly updating PR strategies in real-time.

“Wait for it,” Zee chimed in.

And then—it happened.

The phones across the gala buzzed. News notifications went off in waves.

The LED ticker on the stage scrolled LIVE with tweets and hashtags, #JaylenJustice, #MiaCancelled and #ForeverNot.

One tweet blew up on-screen, “Jaylen just exposed Mia Lennox in 4K, with backup vocals. This ain’t a performance. It's a public trial.”

The host of the gala awkwardly stepped on stage, stammering, “Uh… ladies and gentlemen, we… we’ll be taking a brief intermission.”

Jaylen walked off to the thunderous cheers from some people and murmurs from others. Backstage, Mia was nowhere in sight. Her team had likely pulled her out immediately.

One of his team members patted him on the back. “Man, you ripped the bandage. That was wild.”

Jaylen, sweat beading on his brow, whispered, “This won’t be the end. There’s blowback coming.”

The system chimed in, “System Notification: Foresight Activated via “Brand Integrity”

Probability of media counterattack by Mia’s publicist: 58%.

Probability of industry support fallout: 12%.”

He sighed.

But just as he was about to debrief with his team, his phone buzzed with a priority alert from the system.

“Incoming Transmission! PR Node “DigitalStorm”

Subject: Viral Pushback Detected. A countermeasure is suggested.”

He tapped into it.

A short-form video had already gone viral. It was a crying influencer. It was clear that she was bought out by Mia’s camp, attempting to twist Jaylen’s performance into “emotional terrorism.” The caption was “Men humiliating women on charity stages? Not cool. #DoBetterJaylen”

Zee chimed in. “You want me to start a counter wave?”

Jaylen shook his head. “Let the system ride it.”

Another alert pinged. “Auto-Deploy Activated:

Defense Protocol: Reputation Firewall: Mode 1. Deploying archived fan testimonials…..

Uploading duet history with timestamps to prove coordination……”

Within minutes, Jaylen’s original rehearsal footage with Mia showing her approving the setlist surfaced online.

“Another system bonus unlocked!

Public Memory Triggered: History Rewrites” Passive (Hidden Activated)

+1 to Influence over Media Memory

Debunk trend probability: +30%.”

Jaylen smirked. “This was never just a duet. It was an harsh war.”

Backstage, a monitor still showed the trending hashtags. “#JaylenJustice” had officially surpassed any Mia Lennox-related tag in volume.

Zee grinned. “You ready to take her spot in the NeoSoul top rankings?”

Jaylen didn't smile.

He looked into the camera lens one of the stage crew pointed at him.

“Let’s make something clear,” he said with a calm and powerful voice. “Forgiveness is earned. Not packaged.”

………..

That night, Mia Lennox sat in a black SUV, makeup smudged with her phone trembling in her hand.

She screamed into her publicist’s Bluetooth, “He ambushed me on live television!”

“Actually,” her publicist muttered nervously, “we greenlit that appearance… and the contract allowed creative liberty. He outplayed us.”

“Then fix it!” she shouted.

But her phone buzzed again. When she checked, it was a notification.

“Major cosmetics brand ‘Lustra’ has paused your endorsement pending internal review.”

Mia’s expression cracked.

………..

The system buzzed, “Reputation Report: Gala Fallout Summary.

Mia Lennox Public Approval: -44%

Jaylen Public Approval: +36%

Industry Neutrality Index: +8%

Passive Ability: “Brand Integrity… ENGAGED

Momentum Stable. Counter-offensives are likely to be reduced.”

Just after that, a red notification blinked across Jaylen’s system HUD as he left the venue,

“INCOMING ALERT: Roman Vale has activated PR Node: “Vulture Twins – Operation Ascendancy.”

Jaylen’s eyes narrowed. “So… it begins.”

It’s where the real celebrity battles happen. Talk of campaigns, alliances and digital assassinations. If social media is the ocean, the Fame Arena is the deep trench at the bottom.
