Camry’s POV:
The pearl shone with a brilliant light bright enough to draw the attention of others which I would rather not garner as these lots were savages and a glimpse at such an object and the whole cave would burst into an uproar. But before that could happen, there was a slow rumble beneath our feet and I froze in my spot, unable to move as I glanced around in confusion, wondering what was going on when a voice bellowed out loudly, “It's about to come down, everyone out,” he yelled and it was chaos as everyone struggled to get out of the cave. The thought that this might have been my fault dressed my mind as I gazed down at the little box in my hand before tossing it to the side and racing towards the exit, shards of little boulders dropped from the ceiling like rain and I panicked as I realized I wasn't remotely close to the exit. My breathing increased as it hammered deep in my rib cages as I struggled over the previously drugged bedrock, the others pushed and pulled against each other in an attempt to save themselves first and forsake whatever ties they had to one another. It was no different with me as I struggled as well, thrashing through rocks and sinking sound, racing for my Denmark life but my escape was a fleeting vision, a dream I wished would come through, but as the boulders poured down more violently, that dream slowly faded away. Those who had already arrived at the exit beckoned for the other to run faster while they got to a farther location and safer grounds as well. I groaned as I fell flat to the ground as a pile of raining boulders fell atop me, I had been buried under the sound, struggling to get back up and wiggling my body as the sand shrank away from me, I gritted my teeth in frustration as it was taking more time than I imagined. Calling for help with my hands stretched out, but they all sprinted past me in an attempt to save themselves. I couldn't blame them, I would have done the same thing as them if the positions were reversed. Without accepting defeat, I continued to wiggle my way out of the sand as the particles trickled down my face. My breathing had increased after the energy that had been expelled and I paused for a few seconds to catch my breath, a bit of sweat had found its way into my eyes and I was blinded momentarily before wedding it off with my shoulders. Without relenting, I began my struggle once again, at the same time calling out for help even though I knew it was futile. The mouth of the cave seemed so far and distant and began to blur as figures made their way to stay while I was stuck. I knew I shouldn't be giving up but there was nothing I could do further, my energy had been halved from mining in the caves and the rest had depleted rather rapidly in an attempt to escape from this death trap and having to struggle as well. My whole life flashed before my eyes as I stared at my freedom and the world collapsed around me, the life I lived had been satisfactory and I was grateful, to the family that I had that cared so much for me even when I wasn't theirs, Shaking my head as I refused to let all that go down the drain, they were waiting for me to come back and I didn't want them to be disappointed or sad either, I couldn't let them go through that loss. A burst of energy coursed through me as my will to lie resumed, my struggle began again and this time I refused to accept defeat. Grabbing onto the man's legs that had almost passed through me and pleaded for his help, he groaned and tried wadding me off with the soul of his boot and I held on tightly as I pulled myself out of the sand, but I could only hold on for so long faced with a crude assault, the man struggled to his feet and raced for the exit. Glancing back, I there wasn't any other person and I realized I was the only one left in the deep part of the mines, which meant no one was coming to save me, with one last push and help from the previous man, I groaned out loudly and pushed myself out of the rumble and finally, I was free. Without wasting much time to celebrate my victory I sprinted toward the closing exit. Pushing myself further than I ever, I rewatched my hands put in front of me in hopes that it could hold on just a little bit longer. It wasn’t looking as though it heeded my cries as the mouth of the cave collapsed in a heap and the light that streaked into the cave began to dim. My window of survival began to close slowly and no matter how much I prayed, I couldn't stop it. I shook my head as I was still some distance away and there my path was becoming harder and harder for me to continue as the rumbles obstructed me, Jumping over the fallen pile and sprinting forward with my hope fast decreasing, sweat droplets trickled down the side of my face, i wiped it seriously as it had gotten way too close to my eyes, and the mouth of the cave came closer and closer but the cave mouth had been completely shut and I was trapped inside, glancing around I heaved, there were also others that didn't make it in time and we all began to dig in an attempt to make it out, but there was only so much we could do with the time had been given, The cave wasn't about to wait for us as the bigger boulders came crashing down on us and it all went dark.

WE WERE TOLD TOO LATE
CHAPTER 28.Camyre's POV.The expression on Llerona's face shifted from one of annoyance and curiosity to one of extreme fear in a manner I had not seen before.I frowned before moving closer to her. “What is it? What's the matter?” Frantically questioned her, but she stood frozen for a second before shaking out of it.Lleoram spun around and began to run, “We need to go, NOW,” she yelled out but was already ahead by a few paces. Not lingering any longer as I followed behind her, catching up to her as I questioned, “What's going on?” I was more than confused. One minute we were stalking, and the next we were running like something was chasing us.“And where are we going? The inn is the other way,” I yelled over the wind that whipped past my ears.We pushed past the villagers quite harshly, and I wanted to turn back and apologise; however, there was no time to because my life was in the hands of a girl who didn't care about it.Llerona didn't answer, but I remained quiet, running besid
THE TRAITOR WALKS FREE
CHAPTER 27Llerona's POV.I walked around the village square and enquired about the whereabouts of my second in command and the others, if they made it to the village alive and if anyone had spotted them in the crowd. It wasn't hard to spot the house Valcereon; the distinct sigil of the soaring eagle on their capes and breastplates stood out like a sore thumb. However, the villagers that I questioned all shook their heads disappointedly. That was until I went to the garrison, and luckily they had spotted at least three of my soldiers.“They had entered the city, and we had housed them at one of our inns. They had so much hope that Milady would show up,” the captain responded. The captain of the garrison, Finch Drevyn, was familiar with House Valcereon, and I was not surprised that he had offered them help. However, it did irk me in the manner in which he addressed me, but I pushed it to the back of my mind.“Just three of them?” I enquired, although our number has dwindled s
AFTER THE FIRE
CHAPTER 26Camyre’s POV:They both stared at me as though I had grown a double head, and I had to check just to make sure I didn't. “What's going on? Where are the others?” My brows knitted in confusion as I watched both of them who remained. When I moved to take another step forward, not only did LLeron take a step backward, but so did Rodryce, and I searched my memory to find out what had truly happened, but all I could remember was me lying down and going to sleep.“Are you lots okay?” I didn't make any attempts to approach them again because they would only step further back away from me. “You look like you've seen a ghost.”In my own words, the thought of the cysts came to my mind, and I thought they were around, causing me to swerve frantically and search the surroundings. The only thing I could notice was the burning tree in the distance. “Wait, were we attacked?” Both of them barely responded, but at least they weren't taking cautious steps away from me. “We need to get going
FEAR MADE FLESH
CHAPTER 25Llerona's POV.I woke the others up as I stared at the monster that currently had its hands sticking into Camyre's chest. They prepared for battle, but we needed to be careful, or else we may end up losing the prisoner.“Flank me; there's more out there. I can feel it.” I sensed the magic coursing in the air; it was terrifying. “We won't be able to fight them all off,” I whispered to my second in command, Halrix.Halrix drew his sword. “We run?”“Yes.” That was the only real chance we had of getting out alive. As for Camyre, they looked as though they were in some sort of trance, completely motionless with a blank, almost lifeless expression. It was dark, so I couldn’t make much out, but that much was clear.I turned to Rodryce, who had come to as well. “Well? Are you going to save your partner or just stand there?” I asked, irritation prickling in my tone.I’d never really seen Sir Rodryce as a good man — but that was a personal judgement. He didn’t respond. Just stood the
A TRAITOR OR IS IT?
Chapter 24Camyre:It's been a week or so, and we had been travelling for miles. I always knew the capital was a distance away, so I wasn't that bothered; it gave me a little time to think about what was to come. Was I truly going to be executed? On the basis that I chanced on these strange powers, and now I was declared an imposter, a traitor to the crown. An heir? Subconsciously, I touched the orb lodged into my chest; sometimes I forget that it's there, like it has become one with me.It didn't jolt loads of electricity like it did the first time; however, the energy within it was soft, like a gentle tide crashing against the seaside. The orb was the reason for my powers, and it seems like a fleeting memory since I got them.Llerona halted the group and announced that we would be camping in the woods tonight. We had exited the last village not quite long ago, and so we did not have much of a choice.I couldn't help but stare at her as she climbed down from her white horse, her mov
THE COAST OF GOOD INTENTIONS
CHAPTER 23Camyre: The energy stirred gently about my arm as I lowered myself to one knee, pressing my hands into the muddied earth. I let the magic course through me, down into the soil. In the blink of an eye, the plants began to bloom, sprouting back to life with verdant force. There came a few gasps and murmurs of awe behind me, perhaps even a shout of praise or two, but I paid them no mind. My focus remained on the flow of magic.I could scarcely believe I was managing such a feat. The energy continued to spread, restoring life to all it touched. Yet with every inch it covered, I felt myself grow weaker—my limbs heavy, my vision hazy. Fatigue pulled at my muscles, and my breaths grew shallow.Still, I pressed on a little longer, until at last I was forced to pause. The village chiefs burst into applause, their smiles wide and gleaming with gratitude as they beheld their fields reborn. “I’m happy to be of service,” I murmured, my smile firm despite the weight dragging at my bones
