A thick, unnatural fog hung low over the River Thames, swallowing the Victorian piers of the Docklands in grey obscurity. Rain drizzled steadily, glistening against the black cobblestones of a private wharf hidden behind a row of converted industrial warehouses.

Inside a secluded, high-security boathouse, Lord Reginald Sterling—former Senior Undersecretary of the British Foreign Office and the final surviving executive board member of the global consortium—frantically packed encrypted drive arrays into an aluminum flight case.

"Where is the launch?" Sterling barked, his aged voice trembling as he wiped sweat from his receding hairline. He kept glancing toward the heavy steel doors facing the river. "The private vessel was supposed to be docked twenty minutes ago!"

Beside him, two elite enforcers from a private maritime security firm stood with their submachine guns raised, scanning the shadowy rafters overhead.

"The river patrol flagged a delay, my Lord," the lead enforcer replied, his hand tight on his weapon grip. "All regional private maritime corridors are under heightened surveillance after the Frankfurt leak."

"I don't care about the surveillance!" Sterling spat, slamming the flight case shut. "The entire network has collapsed! Vancek is ruined, Weber is in German custody, and that... that ghost is systematically liquidating every node on the continent! If we don't clear British waters within the hour, we are done!"

"He won't find this dock, my Lord," the second enforcer reassured him, backing toward the rear exit. "This facility is registered under a dead diplomatic shell. It doesn't exist on any public or naval database."

"It exists on mine," a calm, flat voice echoed from the shadowed rafters above.

Before either guard could raise a weapon, the boathouse’s overhead skylight shattered in a shower of heavy glass.

Julian Vance dropped through the opening like a swooping predator, his dark tactical trench coat billowing behind him. He hit the concrete floor in a fluid roll, unholstering his suppressed Sig Sauer before he even stood.

THWIP. THWIP.

Two muffled pops cut through the patter of rain. Both enforcers collapsed instantly, their weapons clattering uselessly against the wet stone floor.

Sterling gasped, stumbling backward against his aluminum flight case, his face draining of all color. He reached frantically into his coat pocket for a small pocket pistol.

Julian didn't draw another weapon. He closed the twenty-foot gap in a heartbeat, grabbing Sterling's wrist and twisting it with cold, iron precision until the small handgun dropped to the ground. He shoved the former diplomat down onto the flight case, pinning him by his throat.

"Julian Vance..." Sterling wheezed, his eyes bulging as he clawed helplessly at Julian's tactical gloves. "Listen to me... I have sovereign immunity... you can't touch me without starting an international incident—"

"Your immunity was revoked the moment you signed off on the London transport hub," Julian said softly, his voice devoid of heat or passion. "Where is the master key for the offshore accounts?"

"I'll give it to you!" Sterling choked out, tears of terror mixing with the rain on his cheeks. "The hard drive... in the case! Everything is there! All the bank routing numbers, the proxy names in Geneva, the private buyers in East Asia! Just let me take the boat!"

In Julian's earpiece, Iris's voice chimed through the quantum-encrypted comms link.

"Dad, I have visual on his flight case via your body-cam feed," Iris reported, her fingers tapping rapidly across her workstation terminal in the Phantom Network vault. "I'm tapping into the drive's hardware interface now. Initiating master extraction."

[EXTRACTING: OFFSHORE BANK ACCOUNTS & ASSET LOCATIONS]

"Got it, Dad," Iris said, a quiet, resolute edge in her voice. "The last remaining financial node of the consortium is completely drained. I've broadcast the evidence directly to New Scotland Yard and the Metropolitan Police."

Julian looked down at the shivering, broken man pinned beneath his grip.

"It's over, Reginald," Julian whispered.

"You think you've won?" Sterling spat, coughing blood against his lip. "You're just one rogue operative! You cut down the consortium, but another syndicate will rise to take its place! The demand never dies, Vance!"

Julian released Sterling's throat, stepping back as the distant, rising wails of British police sirens began to echo down the Docklands avenue.

"Then we'll be waiting for them," Julian said coldly.

He turned toward the open river doors where a sleek, black stealth speedboat hummed softly in the dark water, waiting for his extraction. He stepped onto the vessel, shifted the throttle into high gear, and slipped out into the fog-covered Thames just as blue police lights flooded the boathouse behind him.

On the dashboard of the speedboat, Iris's interface monitor flickered to life, showing the global tactical map.

Where dozens of red syndicate nodes had once glowed across Europe and the Americas, only clear, secure blue indicators remained.

"Global cleanup of the primary consortium branches is complete, Dad," Iris reported softly through the earpiece. "We're clear."

Julian looked back at the receding skyline of London dissolving into the misty night. He pulled off his tactical gloves, a rare sense of quiet peace settling over his heart.

"Head home, Iris," Julian said softly into his mic as the speedboat cut through the dark waters toward the open sea. "The Reaper's work is done."
