Chapter 1
Woosh!" A bag flew through the air, its strap flailing as it spun toward the end of the hallway.
“Hey, Miko! Fetch your precious bag!” a boy jeered, his tone thick with mockery. Miko sprinted after it, sweat dripping down his face. “Give it back!” he shouted, voice cracking. The bullies laughed. One of them, tall and sharp-faced, intercepted the bag mid-air and tossed it to another. “Come on, Miko. Crawl for it!” the tall boy sneered. “I’m not crawling,” Miko replied, trying to keep his voice steady despite the tremble. “Oh, look at him! Acting all tough now.” The boy stepped forward, shoving Miko’s shoulder hard. “Crawl!” another chimed in, punting the bag further down the hallway. Miko clenched his fists, his heart thudding. He stepped forward, refusing to back down. “Not moving, huh? Fine—take this instead!” A fist struck his stomach. He doubled over as laughter erupted around him. Blows rained down, but he stayed silent, gritting his teeth against the pain. “Pathetic,” one sneered. “Why is he even here?” another muttered. “Charity case doesn’t belong in this school.” “Does he even have a family? Maybe he should join them in heaven,” a voice added cruelly. The bullies sauntered off, leaving Miko crumpled on the floor. His cheek pressed against the cold tiles as whispers from onlookers buzzed around him. Slowly, he pushed himself up, brushing dirt from his uniform. His hands shook as he grabbed his bag, now scuffed and frayed. “Just another day,” he muttered, limping toward his next class. ** Inside the classroom, rows of sleek desks filled the space, illuminated by floating mana orbs. The teacher, stern and gray-haired, stood at the front, his voice sharp. “All right! Let’s go over this one more time,” he barked, striking the glowing whiteboard with a pointer. “Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Lightning and Light,” the teacher looked towards the classroom. “These are the top of the bunch elements,” he said, dropping the pointer. “Affinity plays a key role here, Affinity refers to a person's natural connection or alignment with a specific element or type of magic. Let’s say you come from a lineage of fire mage’s. You would definitely have a strong affinity for fire.” “Can anyone explain the relationship between elemental forces and magic?” “Yes, Casy?” “Magic is the manifestation of elemental forces—fire, water, wind, and earth—channeled through a mage's affinity.” “Exactly. In as much as we have the top of the bunch elements, we also have elements like metal, sound, poison and some other useless elements which are not common here in the city of Lunaria,” the teacher said. The door creaked at the back of the room. Heads turned as Miko slipped inside, clutching his bag. The teacher’s eyes narrowed. “Speaking of useless elements. Late again, Miko?” Miko froze. “I... uh...” “Let me guess,” the teacher said with a smirk. “Your imaginary bullies stole your bag again?” “They actually did,” Miko muttered, face burning as laughter rippled through the class. “Bullies? In a school like this? Stop making excuses and sit down. Useless.” Miko ducked his head and shuffled to the back corner. But just as he reached his seat, the bell rang. “Another class missed,” he whispered as students gathered their things. “Head to the training grounds!” the teacher called. “Transfer trials are next.” Excited chatter filled the air as students rushed out. “Finally!” someone cheered. “Time to show off!” another grinned. Miko stayed seated, watching them leave. He sighed, gripping the edge of his desk, his shoulders slumping.Expand

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 259
Hayes's energy filled the chamber. Power that made the air shimmer. Made reality bend. The Guardian stood beside him. Massive. Covered in blood. His giant sword still stabbed in the ground somewhere behind them. He hadn't needed it to slaughter most of the expedition.Miko held his father. The man could barely stand. Years of being suspended had destroyed his body. But his eyes were clear. Alert. Watching everything."Last chance," Hayes said. "Put him back. Power the chamber. Help me complete the transformation. Or watch everyone die.""We're not doing that," Miko replied. His team formed up around him. Weapons ready. Element powers active. All of them hurt. All of them exhausted. But none of them backing down. The champions did the same. Blaze. Cabin. Garcia. Bertha. Samson. All wounded. All determined."Then you die," Hayes said simply. The Guardian moved first. Not toward Miko. Toward the weakest targets. Anna. Liam. The ones without heavy combat abilities.Samson intercepted. His

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 258
They stood at the Battery Chamber. Close enough to touch it now.The structure was massive up close. Maybe forty feet tall. Made of crystal and metal fused together in ways that shouldn't be possible. Glowing with energy that made Miko's skin tingle.Inside. His father. Floating in the center. Eyes closed. Breathing but not moving. Cables running from his back. From his arms. From his head. All of them glowing with ash element energy."How do we open it?" Anna asked."There." Liam pointed. A control panel on the side. Covered in symbols. Some Church. Some older. Some that didn't look human at all.Behind them the battle raged. The Guardian was still fighting. Still killing. The expedition was dying to give them time."Hurry!" Akiya yelled.Miko moved to the control panel. Started examining it. Trying to figure out how to open the chamber. Then a sound made everyone freeze.A roar. But not from the Guardian they'd left behind. From above. They looked up.The ceiling of the massive cham

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 257
Miko charged forward. His dimensional blade raised high. Element marriage at maximum power. Black flames wrapping his entire body. Ready to cut Hayes down where he stood. Hayes didn't move. Didn't raise his hands. Didn't prepare any defense. He just stepped aside. Miko's blade passed through empty air. The momentum carried him forward. He stumbled. Caught himself. Spun around. Hayes was standing to the side of the chamber entrance. Arms crossed. Completely relaxed. That same calm smile on his face. "What are you doing?" Miko demanded. "Letting you pass." "What?" "You want to reach the chamber. Destroy it. Save the world. I'm not stopping you." The expedition reformed around Miko. Weapons pointed at Hayes. Ready to attack on command. But Hayes just stood there. Calm. Like he was watching children play. "Go ahead," he said. Gesturing toward the massive chamber entrance behind him. "The Battery Chamber is right through there. Your father is inside. Everything you came here for

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 256
The figure pulled back his hood completely.Co-ordinator Hayes. The man who'd coordinated their missions. Who'd sent them on reconnaissance. Who'd approved their elite unit status. Who'd authorized this entire expedition.Miko felt like the ground had disappeared beneath him."No," he said. "That's impossible."Hayes smiled. Not the professional smile from briefings. Something darker. More genuine."Nothing is impossible in the Abyss, Miko. You should know that by now."The expedition reached the platform. Galok and Captain Rodriguez at the front. They saw Hayes. Weapons raised.Rodriguez stopped dead. His face went pale. "Hayes? What are you doing here?""Finishing what I started.""We're here to destroy the chamber!" Rodriguez said. His voice shaking. "You authorized this mission!""Yes. I did. Because I needed you all here. Needed Miko here specifically. This entire expedition was designed to bring him to this exact moment."Miko's element marriage burned hotter. Every mission. Eve

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 255
Four hours passed too quickly.Miko barely slept. Just lay there thinking about what was coming. About the enclosure. About his father.About the choice he'd have to make."All units assemble!" Galok's voice cut through the camp. "Breach begins in thirty minutes!"The expedition came alive. Soldiers packing gear. Checking weapons. Preparing for the final push.Miko joined his team. They looked tired. Scared. But ready."This is it," Akiya said."This is it," Miko agreed. They assembled in formation. Two hundred and ninety-two people. All that remained of the four hundred who'd started this mission.Galok stood at the front with Rodriguez. Church and AAU united one last time."The enclosure ahead contains the Battery Chamber," Galok said. "Our objective is to breach it, reach the chamber core, and destroy it completely.""Expect heavy resistance. Awakened wraiths guard the interior. Possibly worse. Casualty estimates are sixty percent."Sixty percent. More than half of them would die.

Sovereign of The Abyss Chapter 254
Morning never came.Or rather, it came but looked the same as night. The dimensional influence of the Battery Chamber made time meaningless here."All units assemble!" Galok commanded. "Final march begins now!"Two hundred and ninety-two people formed up. The sixty marked for dismissal had been separated. Sent to a holding area to wait for evacuation. The remaining expedition was leaner. Harder. Everyone who'd survived this far had proven themselves capable."From this point forward, we travel at night," Galok announced."Why?" someone asked."Because the entities that attacked us hunt during the day. Night is safer in this region."That made no sense. But nothing about the Abyss made sense."We march for twelve hours. Then establish base camp outside the Battery Chamber enclosure. Rest. Then breach and destroy.""Move out!"The expedition began marching through the darkness. Not regular darkness. Abyssal darkness. Thick. Heavy. Like it had substance. The kind of darkness that pressed
