The truth he had known all his life was a lie, and today, he paid the heavy price of living that lie.

“How…how could you?!” Adrian's sobs filled the air as he hung up there and the pillars drained him off his energy.

“Every nice thing I've ever done for you was just to make sure the bloodline grew properly. And honestly, you should be happy to serve this purpose,” he chuckled with a cold stare. “It is for the good of the realm and we must serve the realm whenever the need arises, no matter the consequences,” he stated firmly, like he was some noble protector of the realms.

The crowd reacted somewhat differently. Some stayed quiet, too scared to challenge Thomas' authority, some looked excited but there were a few sad looks, but they didn't make a single move to help Adrian.

But the best was yet to come.

A young lad stepped out from the crowd, with silver hair and beauty that was rare in all the realms. She exuded ethereal confidence and energy as she stepped forward, her face a mix of pity as she stared at Adrian.

“Isabella,” he coughed. “Help me,” he begged, but her expression softened now and slowly turned into an evil smile.

“Did you ever think my father would ever let a brat like you marry me?” His eyes widened in shock.

Thomas patted her shoulder softly, kissed her forehead and turned to the confused Adrian.

“Isabella here is the daughter of my good friend, Lord Adonis. And your petty relationship with her, it was a simple job to keep you happy and distracted so you'll never find out what I was planning. And yes, she reported every week to me, so I knew when you had discovered you could reach the seventh level too,” he chuckled and Adrian cursed behind him.

“But why…”

Isabella's voice shut him right away.

“Don't be pathetic more than you already are. Dating you was boring work and all your silly romantic gestures were petty and pathetic. I could barely stand to even touch you knowing fully well you were simply livestock waiting to be slaughtered,” she laughed and paused, allowing it to sink in before delivering the final blow. Isabella stepped away from Thomas and kissed Marcus warmly.

Adrian wasn't surprised anymore, it was much expected after everything that had happened now.

“I've been engaged to my sweet Marcus for over a year now and I wore his ring under my clothes every single time I kissed you,” she spat those venomous words with an evil smile on her face.

Her words stung him hard, harder than he could handle and he choked on his breath, coughing loudly and wailing.

Yuki, who had been quiet for quite a while, couldn't bear it anymore. She rushed forward, charging into the crowd, knowing this was the only chance to save Adrian, or die with him.

Just as she slipped into the air, one of the elders chanted some words and let out a blast of energy, striking her down to the ground. Her cloak was broken now and she was bleeding from the side of her mouth.

She struggled back to her feet, her eyes glued to Adrian's, but just as she was about to dive into the air again, her fleet was met with Thomas' heavy boot to the head, sending her crashing down like nothing. He was brutal, striking her endlessly with his power, and hit the poor tiny fox with enough force to destroy a mountain of rocks, slamming her right into the wall.

The sound of her dying cries echoed through the large hall as her body hit the floor hard and bounced, landing once again and she lay still, no movement, no breath, just her pretty silver fur covered in blood.

Through their bond, Adrian felt the exact moment Yuki died. The bond between them severed like a rope, the connection dying off immediately. His soul felt ripped in two as half of him was already dead. Tears ran down Adrian's frozen face, but deep inside him, rage was building, pure unadulterated hatred was burning inside him so strong it could blow him to pieces.

Thomas turned to the elders with a smile and snapped his fingers, signaling the start of the extraction.

The five old men began to chant in the old tongue and the energy chains holding Adrian started getting tighter and squeezed him harder. The flames burned even brighter as he screamed while the crowd just watched.

But in the midst of it all, inside him was a new kind of pain forming. It felt like something being pulled out of him from the root. The bloodline extraction had started and was supposed to last two hours.

Adrian will be forced to stay awake the whole time and endure the excruciating and damning pain from it, feeling every second of his essence being stolen while men watched like it was some cinematic experience.

Marcus on the other hand laid on the table next to the platform, ready to receive the bloodline when it was removed.

But behind all of these, nobody noticed a faint glow from Yuki’s dead body. They were too busy with the show right in front of them but failed to see this faint glow slowly drifting towards Adrian.

Perhaps they had forgotten or never knew that when a spirit beast died while still bonded to its master, it can give all its power as a final gift, just the same Adrian had brought Yuki back to life once.

They clearly didn’t see that this gift, mixed with Adrian's rage and the forced extraction was about to trigger something that wasn't possible until now, his bloodline, evolving into something far more powerful than they could fathom.

The room was a house of horrors with blinding lights and exploding energy filled the place from the evil energy of the chains, and the ethereal light from Yuki’s final sacrifice drifting into the dying Adrian's chest, igniting a terrifying and unnatural rage.

Her face flashed before his eyes in a split second with soft words in his mind.

“We'll meet again, old friend.”

Adrian’s head throbbed with a violent, rhythmic ache as the morning sunlight pierced through the window. He pushed himself up, grinning as he rubbed his temples. He remembered the meditation chamber. He remembered the flames, the scythe, the triumph of hitting the seventh level. But after Thomas told him to wash up? After dark? Nothing. Just a blurred, static haze and the foul taste of blood in his mouth. A Qi deviation. He must have pushed his new core too hard and blacked out, that was the only explanation to this sudden memory loss. But if it was just exhaustion, why did his stomach twist with a rather suffocating dread? His vision was blurred for a while as he dodged the blinding light sipping from the window, rolling over to the other side of the bed.Yuki was by his side, moving around in circles, swaying her tales and whining endlessly.“What's the matter?” Adrian raised an eyebrow at the white beast, but her response was rather dazzling.“You can't attend the ceremony!” Yuk
