After finishing their food, Ava showed Shawn what she had learned. This time, she successfully cooked rice and chicken curry. They might not be perfect and as tasty as Shawn's cooking, but she did her best, so Shawn complimented Ava on her efforts.

"I can't do it without your guidance, Shawn." Ava smiled gracefully. "I'm so thankful that you teach me how to cook, and I'm feeling sorry that I've borrowed some of your precious time."

"Don't worry about it, Ava. I'm just returning the favor. You've never let me alone when we were in your world, so I think it's my turn to help you from now on," Shawn replied, gazing at Ava's sparkling golden eyes with so much admiration.

Outside, Charlotte had just arrived. She smelled something delicious coming from the kitchen. She wondered who was cooking there since she didn't know that her daughter didn't have class and her family wouldn't usually visit without informing her.

As she entered the kitchen, Charlotte was surprised to see her daughter wit

Ava found out that her brother and the old man were staying at a boarding house and had to pay for monthly rent, which was why they needed money, and that was also the reason why they were doing some crime as they were about to hold up Shawn if they didn't recognize him."What?" Ava screamed in surprise. "How long have you been doing such a crime, and why would you even try to rob an innocent boy like Shawn?""Stay calm, Ava," Shawn reminded her kindly. "They didn't really hurt me. Besides, they even saved me from those zombies. I think they have some reasons to rob.""But still, even if they had reasons, it was still a crime, and they would be sent to jail if they got caught," Ava argued worriedly. "You can't just go outside and take people's purses and escape because you can use magic. Magic should be used to help people, not to cause trouble."The room suddenly became silent after Ava said those words. The old man asked, sitting on the porch with Ash and Shawn. "What I mean is, she had never been this caring before. She was always acting like she didn't care, but she has changed.""Yup, I noticed that too," Ash agreed."Perhaps because she already got used to her new life? She's actually a flexible girl, adaptive, and can survive in any environment," Shawn said. "People can change, so you don't have to worry too much.""I didn't expect her to get quickly influenced by the people around her, especially because she doesn't easily trust anyone. But I think it's convenient to be flexible," the old man replied. "It seems like she's enjoying her new life.""Why wouldn't she enjoy it, old man?" Ash interrupted. "She got e

Just by thinking about it made her give up already.Ava didn't mind her and continued walking. Shawn rushed towards the green dragon and asked in a worried tone, "Are you alright?" "The dark gem," Cyrene said in a weak voice. "The demon queen uses it to control us. Fortunately, my mind was strong enough to resist the manipulation. I should do something to stop her and free my friends." "Don't worry, I'm here to help you with that." Shawn used the power of the magical ring to heal Cyrene's wounds. "You were black and blue. Can you still fly?" "Thanks for healing my wounds, Shawn. You are a very compassionate human," Cyrene said. • Chapter Sixty-five: Flying Monsters

Shawn put the dark gem on the stone and broke it with his golden sword. As the gem got divided into two, the memories of Florence played back in his mind—the way he smiled, laughed, and played with them; those sarcastic things he used to say; his seriousness and strong will to help others—he was such a good elf, someone they could always rely on, and now that he was gone, they knew they wouldn't be able to find someone like him again. "Are you okay?" Ava asked, standing behind Shawn. "Although Florence is an elf, death is something we can't predict, and every one of us is going to die too." Shawn faced Ava and forced himself to smile, though tears were already forming within his eyes. He knew she was right; sometimes they get emotional if they only think about their friends deaths, forgetting that they, too, were going to die someday and perhaps they'd meet each other again. They had to be mentally and emotionally ready for the death of their loved ones. Aimee, on the other hand

  • Chapter Sixty-four: Resurrection

Florence woke up on his wooden bed upholstered with white bedsheets inside his room that was built inside a huge tree in the world of elves. He slowly stood up as he remembered what happened. He was so incapable of protecting the most valuable elven treasure, and he knew that his father would be mad at him. "Why did you allow that gem to be taken away? Don't you know that our lives depend on it?" Eldric asked, holding his wooden cane firmly, trying to hold himself back as he might accidentally strike his nephew for his mistakes. "I'm really sorry, uncle," Florence apologized, bowing his head more than forty-five degrees, showing how much regret he had for being so gullible and letting the demon lord take the gem of life when his father had already warned him not to let anyone touch it or tell anyone about it because it could attract power-thirsty people. "Your sorry can do nothing." Eldric sighed. "You have to go back to the world of humans and take it back. Our family has trusted
