Adrian smiled; it was the first time he’d seen Jasper Emerson so flustered.

“Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

At his words, Jasper’s heart settled. It seemed Philip Mason’s departure from the hospital was all but sealed.

“I’ve already done preliminary work on the patients. Now, unfasten their clothing.”

The ER team obeyed at once.

Adrian opened his case, pinched four silver needles in one hand, and, without shifting his stance, sent them true—each one buried precisely where it needed to go.

He repeated the process with the remaining four patients.

“Done.”

The tight band around everyone’s chests seemed to loosen. Only Philip Mason gave a dismissive chuckle.

“Amateur.”

Adrian ignored him and turned to Lorenzo Watson. “Do not remove the needles before I return.”

Lorenzo nodded. “You can count on me, Master. With me here, nobody’s touching them.”

He cut a glare toward Philip Mason. If this brat wanted to cross his master, he’d be watching him like a hawk.

“I’m going. Time won’t wait.”

They hadn’t misheard—confirmation came almost at once.“Yes,” Daisy said without hesitation. “Hill Group’s new line was developed from the Empress’s Rejuvenation Elixir Formula. We simply haven’t had time to introduce it in detail.”Vincent Wallace nodded, clearly pleased, and bestowed the highest praise. “When it comes to beauty and rejuvenation, only something on the level of the Empress’s Rejuvenation Elixir Formula deserves to be called top-tier.”Top-tier.Another shockwave rippled through the room. Words from Vincent Wallace carried weight.William Lane nodded as well. “That’s what I heard—and why I’ve been eager to see it.”Once they had asked their questions about the product, they proceeded to greet Adrian one by one. To the four great families’ astonishment, even they—pillars of Skyline City—were all deference and courtesy before these giants of the medical world, lavishly offering rare gifts with unrestrained generosity. And these eminent figures… were treating Adrian with

Despite Eleanor Davidson’s prim reminder, the reporters weren’t about to pass up a scene that promised conflict. No one spared Daisy a glance. What they wanted was the headline: the four great families joining forces against Hill Group.Russell Sanders didn’t bother to hide the leering mockery in his eyes. He raised his voice at Daisy across the hall. “Daisy, this is what you get for refusing me. You chose that pauper Adrian—what has he ever brought you?”Adrian chuckled, unruffled. “If not me, should she have chosen you—a cripple in a wheelchair who can’t even stand?”Russell’s face went rigid, fury blazing in his eyes. Adrian, unmoved, checked his phone. By his reckoning, the people he’d called should be arriving any minute.Right on cue, as he lowered the phone, their reinforcements appeared.“Thank you all for your patience!”A resonant voice carried through the hall. A refined middle-aged man stepped into view, ignoring the four families entirely as he headed straight for the VIP

“Who said our press conference would be a wash?”Adrian shot the executives a dark look. Most days you couldn’t tell what they actually did—yet at the faintest hint of trouble, they were the first to lose their nerve. In his eyes, they were the Hill Group’s chief saboteurs.“Don’t worry, Miss Daisy. People will show up.”“I trust the ones I invited.”But the executives had no intention of humoring him.“Naive.”Adrian couldn’t be bothered to argue. He just watched the minutes tick by.The turning point he’d hoped for never arrived. They didn’t even see Stuart Thompson or Sullivan Parker. With each passing minute, Daisy’s heart sank a little further.Reporters from all over Skyline City had taken their places, and with five minutes still to go before the start, they were already photographing the empty rows of seats. To hold a launch this deserted was almost a Skyline City spectacle in its own right. If they ran it, it would be traffic gold.Adrian was far calmer than Daisy. He knew th

Daisy flushed scarlet at Adrian’s laughter.“What are you laughing at?”Seeing the faint ire on his fiancée’s face, Adrian sobered at once, all earnestness.“Miss Daisy, you have to do it like me—louder. That’s how it works.”She remained unconvinced.Adrian cupped his hands and called out again at full volume:“We are going to win—”“Miss Daisy is the best—”Daisy hesitated. He urged her again and again.“Go on, try it. You really can.”She drew a deep breath and gave a resolute nod.“I will win!”Her voice still wasn’t loud, but it was far stronger than before.“Keep going!”Grinning, Adrian prodded her on. Daisy raised her hands to her mouth like a makeshift megaphone.“Hill Group will win!”“We will prevail!”“I can do this!”Each shout rang louder than the last. Adrian smiled, satisfied.“Well? Still feel stifled?”Daisy shook her head, delighted. The weight in her chest had lifted clean away. Her cheeks were flushed from excitement, and Adrian immediately reached out to pinch on

Most of the hall had openly declared for the Sanders family; the rising chorus of voices was proof enough of their resolve.Triumph glittered in Melanie Sanders’s eyes. She looked Daisy up and down with brazen contempt, her smile almost feral. The clamor faded for Daisy. All she could think about was grinding that woman’s smile into dust.Only when Adrian called her name did she come back to herself.“Miss Daisy, are you alright?”Faced with such a lopsided scene, even Adrian couldn’t help worrying. For all her iron will, Daisy was, at the end of the day, still a young woman. She shook her head.“I’d braced for it. I even imagined it might look like this. It doesn’t make it any easier to watch.”“I’m fine. Really.”Adrian nodded, unconvinced, already deciding he should take her somewhere to clear her head. She didn’t look fine at all.Though many had sided with the Sanders family, there were still those who kept silent. That irked Melanie. She had expected ninety-nine percent would ch

Many people pricked up their ears, stealthily listening for any stir from Daisy’s side.A few who were on good terms with Bianca Irving and had some inside scoop already knew the banquet was essentially meant to pave the way for Hill Group. But in the current climate, to openly side with Hill Group—weren’t they afraid of retaliation from the Sanders family? They didn’t dare to gamble, yet curiosity pricked at them.Stuart Thompson and Sullivan Parker, on the other hand, seemed completely unbothered by the Sanders family, chatting lively with Daisy. At this juncture, Daisy was genuinely grateful for their public support. She covertly murmured a thank-you to them.Stuart Thompson and Sullivan Parker waved it off with easy generosity. They were already in the same boat—shared glory, shared ruin—and the course was set. Any more politeness would only be inappropriate.“Miss Daisy, we’re family now.”“That’s right, Miss Daisy. We don’t split hairs among our own. Anyone who comes for us—we’l
