"The president?" He blunted out and was amazed.

President Andrew was also surprised to see the surprise look on his face.

"Don't be too surprised sir, we suggested a partial memory loss and currently, he couldn't recall anything" one of his doctors asked.

"Is he going to be okay? I don't want anything to happen to him. His memory is very important and I want him to remember it all. All these wouldn't have happened had he didn't go to the club yesterday" president Andrew muttered, then faced Ryan's again.

"I'll make sure you are fully okay. Don't worry about anything and don't think about it, okay?" He added

Liam was only staring at him. He still couldn't believe that he got into the president's son's body. He has watched it happening in movies but now, it has happened to him.

"Okay" he managed to answer after a few seconds of silence.

The door opened again and his uncle was revealed. He was sweating, seemed to be in such cos he was also panting

"I apologize for coming late. The meeting took longer than expected since I was to be officially announced as the new director of this hospital" he explained to Mr. President

Desmond in Ryan's body blood was getting boiled from setting his eyes on him.

He felt like standing up and throwing him a punch. His life wasn't perfect but was cool until a few days ago when his uncle allowed his greediness to scatter everything.

If there was a way, he would have stood up to pluck his eyes.

"Get out" he instructed, gritting his teeths and he sounded furious.

"Mr. Ryan, are you angry with me? Believe me, I wanted nothing to happen to you after the surgery and that made me instruct Selene to stay by your side. The only side effect is temporary memory loss which we can deal with. I apologize" to his surprise, his uncle began apologizing to him.

Was it because he was the president's son?

"I don't fucking care about that. Get the heck out of the place now!" He yelled again.

"You need to calm down, Ryan. He did nothing wrong. I know you are angry about your memory but he has promised that you will be fine" President Andrew interrupted.

His heart was breathing faster due to his anger. That was when he figured out that their thoughts were all about his memory and nobody could understand the other reason.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, feeling hurt that he couldn't do anything.

"Where is the person that was said to be in the comma? Since I am the cause of the accident, I would like to see him" he requested, wanting to have a look at his body

"Ryan, you don't need to rush things. You are affected physiologically. You need to take things easy and moreso, the person you want to see isn't worth it" His uncle interrupted.

His words were annoying and it only added to his anger. If he was chanced, he would have stood up and vent out all his anger on him.

"Okay, if you say so" his father accepted, signaling to Josh to get him in the wheelchair.

"Can't she help me? Why must it be you?" He asked, pointing at Selene.

"You ain't just an ordinary patient but the president's son and I should give you the best hospitality" Josh immediately put on a smile, all because of his status.

"Get your fucking hand off him and let her help me instead" he yelled at her

Josh was shocked, but he had maintained his coolness

He gestured to Selene, who wheeled him out of the ward to another one, where his body was getting treated.

Seeing his body, bandaged from head to toe, with several machines attached to his body and appeared to be lifeless. He was close to tears.

Gently, he stood up and the injection was also temporary and started waving off.

He was dizzy and was about falling down but Selene rushed to help him

He sat beside his body, sniffling in the tears and tried to prevent them from falling but he failed. The tears started gushing out instead.

He started touching his body slowly.

Selene, who was also watching, went emotional by his reaction.

"When is he going to wake up?" He managed to ask.

"I have no idea as his health issue is complicated right now. Moreso, there is a slim probability of making it out here alive" She answered, murmuring the last part

"What do you mean by that? He has to make it out here alive. He needs to!" He screamed and grabbed her hands.

"Look at me, Selene. My father is the president right? Meaning that money isn't the problem. You need to do whatever it takes to make him live. Else, my purpose of existence is gone" he begged her, trembling at that moment.

"I have no say regarding this. I'm only an intern that follows instructions. The only person that can give instructions is the director " she humbly gave his response

Without wasting another second, he dashed out of the ward. His father and uncle were already waiting for him outside.

"The guy inside there has to be saved by all means. How much do you need to heal him? My father will pay every little dime and add to it " he shouted.

"I don't know when my son started being considerate of others" President Andrew thought, since Liam was known to be a selfish and spoiled President's son.

"Mr. Ryan, you don't need to worry about Desmond . He was on his way to the prison when the accident happened. Without the accident, his freedom has ceased, so it's almost the same thing. There is no use in wasting your money on him, he isn't worth it" Josh explained thought on the matter.

Liam moved forward. He wanted to slap him due to the range that he was boiling but yet, he controlled himself and pulled him closer by his collar instead.

"Don't you ever repeat that statement again. He is a human being and deserves to live. If nobody deserves to live, then it should have been a wicked man like you " he retorted, still burning in rage.

His father moved closer to rescue Josh from him.

"Let's go home, Ryan. I promise you that he will do something about it. People are glancing at us already and we need to prevent this from getting out to the Media. Let's go" his father begged and gently took him away, not without Liam taking a final look at Desmond 's body.

The driver was already waiting outside and the door was opened for him

His jaw dropped almost immediately. He had seen the car once in a movie, not in real life.

He opened his mouth to talk but nothing came out of it.

"Let's go. Your mother is waiting" his father brought him back from his thoughts, leaving him with no other option than to enter the car.

From there, his new life journey began when he had no idea of what life had in store for him.

  • The Rules of the Shadow Healing

The morning after Selene's visit, Desmond arrived at the laboratory before sunrise.Researchers moved between workstations carrying trays of dried herbs. Extraction units hummed steadily in one section of the building. The sharp scent of crushed leaves and medicinal roots lingered in the air.For a few minutes, Desmond enjoyed the quiet, then his office door opened. Dr. Paige entered carrying a tablet. She looked too tired to greet him and that alone was enough warning."Morning, Dr. Paige"She placed the tablet on the table with a little more force than necessary.“ There is nothing good about the morning, Don”.“ Wow!, that's harsh”Paige ignored Desmond's dramatic expression, then she pulled out a chair and sat down."I spent half the night reviewing inventory reports. If anyone says good morning to me right now, I might become violent.""Is it that serious?", Desmond asked“ It's worse”, she answered as she slid the tablet across the table.Desmond picked it up, and the smile on h

  • The Midnight clinic 2

A nurse led Selene through the underground corridor. The deeper they went, the more questions formed in her mind. The facility was too organized to be temporary. It was too well staffed and too well supplied.People moved with the familiarity of those who had been working there for some time. Eventually, the nurse stopped outside an office."Mr. Liam is inside""Thank you", Selene said. She knocked once, "Come in"Desmond glanced at her with a straight face, "Dr. Selene""Mr. Liam"The door closed behind her. For a few seconds, neither spoke, then Selene took a seat."I just had a conversation with your friend outside"Desmond nodded, "I assumed you would""He told me this facility is connected to the cartel"There was no point dancing around it, so Desmond decided to come out clean."Yes"Selene watched him carefully, "What exactly does that mean?""It means the people funding this place aren't saints"The answer didn't satisfy her, "I don't think that's what it means""No, It doesn'

  • The Midnight clinic 1

The investigation continued even after the Ministry cleared the clinics. The public pressure had eased, but inside the operations room, nobody was celebrating.Analysts stayed at their desks through the day and often deep into the night. Every financial trail they followed opened into something larger than the last. Every company led to another intermediary, and then another, until the structure stopped looking like a chain and started looking like a web that had no clear edge.Three days after the clearance announcement, Scorpion didn’t show up for the strategy meeting.Ezra noticed first, but he didn’t say anything right away. When Scorpion missed the second meeting, Ezra finally spoke, “That’s twice now, he is acting suspicious” Desmond gave a quiet chuckle, “ Every one of his actions is always suspicious. Maybe it's related to his company anyways”Ezra shrugged, but the concern stayed with him. By the next day, he finally called him."Where are you?", Ezra asked."I'm busy", Scor

  • The Point of Corrections

Desmond finally understood the pattern. The headlines, the fake medication, the bribed media, and the pressure on the Ministry were all part of a coordinated effort, not aimed at Liam personally but at the system he represented. His humanitarian model was disrupting powerful interests, and what they were seeing wasn’t a personal conflict or political dispute, but a coordinated pushback from an industry threatened by its success."So what now?", Scorpion uttered.Ezra pushed off the desk and straightened, "We have enough to fight back”Desmond didn't agree, “Not yet”Scorpion was also impatient, “Why?”“ None of this reaches the people who made the decision”, Desmond explained.Ezra understood first, "They’re middle layers, so they're disposable.""Exactly. So, if we go public now, they will take the fall. Every one of them. And the system keeps moving""The companies will deny it. The contractors disappear into it", Scorpion mentioned "And nothing sticks," Ezra said.Desmond looked d

  • Beyond the Clinic

The next trigger came sooner than Desmond expected. It was barely seven in the morning when Ezra walked into the office carrying a stack of reports."We found it", he suddenly announced.Desmond tore his attention away from the clinic records spread across his desk"Found what?""The break in the pattern"Scorpion left the window and walked over. Ezra placed the reports on the desk and opened the first file."Every region that experienced panic received calls from media contacts within thirty minutes of the first reports appearing"Scorpion reached for the documents, “That’s not unusual in cases like this”"It is when the same communications agency is connected to all of them"That made Desmond go still for a moment. He pulled the file closer and started reading:The first few pages contained call records. Further in were internal communications gathered overnight. The names attached to the reports changed from page to page, but the language barely did. Journalists working in differen

  • The First Casualty

“Are you telling me a child is dead because of Liam Andrew's treatment system?”“I'm telling you that's what the reports currently say”“Reports from who?” one analyst asked immediately. “The hospital hasn't released a final statement”“A child is dead,” another replied. “Are we supposed to ignore that?”“Nobody is ignoring it”“Then stop acting like people don't have a right to be angry”“Being angry and assigning blame are two different things”The host tried to intervene, “Gentlemen….”“No, because this is exactly the problem.”“The problem is that everyone wants a verdict before an investigation.”The argument rolled on while the headline remained fixed at the bottom of the screen.HOLISTIC TREATMENT UNDER INVESTIGATION AFTER CHILD DEATHBy afternoon, the story had spread across the country. Reporters were already camped outside the regional clinic, pushing microphones toward anyone who looked like they might have answers. Inside, it was mostly movement without clarity; staff slip
