THE VOID MOUNTAIN

Chris stood still for a moment, breathing in the dry, scorching air of Void Mountain. The heat wrapped around him like an old, unforgiving friend.

Two suns burned fiercely overhead — one crimson and one golden — turning the endless red sand into a blazing, bleeding wasteland that stretched as far as the eye could see.

In the distance, jagged mountain peaks stabbed upward into the sky like broken teeth, while faint, menacing monstrous growls rolled down from the rocky heights, echoing through the barren terrain.

“Naija boy don land!” he muttered to himself, dusting the red sand off Li Yan’s cheap brown outer sect robe. “Chaii, this place no be joke oh. I gats lock in.” (“Nigerian boy has landed!” … “Damn, this place is no joke. I have to lock in.”)

He quickly sorted through the overwhelming flood of inherited memories. Li Yan had only been at the early stage of Qi Condensation — basically an ant in this dangerous world.

Li Yan’s seniors had framed him for stealing a grade 4 spirit herb. He was chased deep into the forbidden outer zone of Void Mountain and left for dead. Classic sect bullying at its worst.

“You say wetin?” Chris scoffed aloud. *Run go where?* Naija no dey run like that oh, we no dey run from trouble — we dey manage am.

(“What did you say?” … “Naija people don’t run like that. We don’t run from trouble — we manage it.”)

Chris took a few determined steps forward and suddenly collapsed to one knee as a sharp, piercing pain shot through his meridians.

The previous owner had pushed his body far past its limits, and unfortunately, it hadn’t done him any good in the end.

[Undying Courage Activated]

[5x Recovery Engaged]

A warm, revitalizing energy began flooding through his body. The intense pain gradually dulled, and his breathing steadied as strength returned.

“Omo, this guy body wan wound me.” God pass you sha. Chris rose back to his feet with renewed resolve. (“Damn, this guy’s body wants to wound me.” God has passed you already.)

A low, threatening growl echoed from behind a cluster of rocks.

Two red-eyed Void Wolves stepped out boldly, saliva dripping hungrily from their powerful jaws. Both were at the early stage of Qi Condensation, matching his current realm.

Alarmed but steady, Chris locked eyes with the beasts. Their black fur radiated dark, ominous energy.

Undying Courage kicked in fully. Chris’s blood boiled with pure Naija vexation and fighting spirit.

“Now, now, person just enter una world… una wan turn am into food?” (“Now, now, someone just entered your world… and you want to turn him into food?”)

Chris clenched his fists tightly, his eyes scanning the Void Wolves. They were massive, the size of full-grown adult lions, with sharp fangs glinting under the dual suns.

The wolves lunged forward without warning.

Chris sprinted on pure instinct. The first wolf came at him from below, its mouth wide open in a deadly snap — Chris evaded the attack with surprising ease.

The second wolf appeared suddenly by his side, its right claws aimed straight for his guts. “Bam!” Chris sent it flying high into the air. “Boom.” It crashed heavily into the ground.

[Rhythmic Combat Intuition Engaged]

‘Una no fit do shit!” Chris yelled defiantly. He dashed forward at the second wolf with speed too fast for the ordinary human eye. He drove his knee into its head with surprising, explosive force.

(“You people cannot do shit!”)

“Thud.” The wolf fell limply to the earth.

The first wolf returned aggressively, unleashing a furious barrage of claw strikes that split the air around him.

Chris dodged several of the attacks, but one vicious claw strike still drew blood from his left shoulder, tearing through the robe.

“Your matter don end like this,” Chris growled, his jaws clenched in determination. (“Your matter has ended like this.”)

[Adrenaline + Willpower Surge]

[5x Recovery Maxed Out]

The wolf charged once more. Chris dropped low, sliding smoothly under its snapping jaws. His fist slammed upward into its ribs with a sickening crack that echoed across the sands.

“Huuuu!”

The wolf beast collapsed heavily to the earth.

You no need tell me twice my guy. Chris replied mentally with confidence.

(You don’t need to tell me twice my guy.)

Chris rose to his feet and moved deeper into the mountains with caution. Every few minutes, he heard the distant cries and howls of various beasts — some deep and powerful, others high-pitched and vicious, serving as constant reminders of the dangers around him.

After what seemed like a long hour of careful trekking, he stumbled upon a hidden cave at the southern side of the mountain, partially concealed by large, ancient trees.

“This place looks good enough,” Chris muttered, crossing his arms as he inspected it. “The only thing wey fit enter this place na something my size or smaller.”

(“The only thing that can enter this place is something my size or smaller.”)

“Hmmm.” He covered his nose with his sleeve as he stepped inside. “This place dey smell somehow.” (“This place smells somehow.”)

Green grass blanketed the entire ground inside. The walls were surprisingly smooth and cold to the touch.

The light from both suns barely reached inside, leaving the cave in a cool, dim atmosphere.

At the center lay a flat stone slab that looked almost like a natural bed.

Chris walked around slowly, observing and feeling every surface with care.

*This place looks great. It will be my personal home for now,* Chris whispered to himself with satisfaction.

Vast energy surged directly into Chris’s body, filling him with renewed vitality.

“Everywhere good!” Now this place just needs a little make-over. Chris mumbled happily.

(“Everywhere is good!”)

The trees on Void Mountain stood at incredible heights and widths. Some easily overshadowed a five-storey building with their massive trunks and sprawling branches.

He tiptoed carefully through the thick trees and long grasses. The dual suns were still scorching overhead. He halted under a particularly large tree that resembled an oak — its branches long and wide, with leaves the size of a couch.

He plucked one bright yellow fruit and bit into it.

“Ham.” Juice squelched between his fingers as the sweet flavor exploded in his mouth.

“This fruit sweet die!” Chris smirked with delight. He ate one, then two, three, and eventually five.

(“This fruit is very sweet!”)

What the fuck! Na golden fruit be this oh! System, do you have anything wey I fit use store my food? He asked excitedly.

[Note: Storing Capacity Unlimited. Anything Stored In The Void Storage Remains The Same. Time Doesn't Function In The Void.]

Thank you, System. He said, grinning from ear to ear.

Chris started plucking every ripe fruit he could find and sent them straight into the void storage without hesitation.

Evening came fast across the mountain. Chris brushed sweat from his face with the back of his hand.

A sturdy wooden door now sealed the cave entrance perfectly.

[Craftsman Unlocked]

He shut the door firmly behind him.

“Yessss!” It works! Overjoyed, Chris did a little celebratory leg work right there in the cave.

He powered up his makeshift insect lamp as the cave plunged into complete darkness. Earlier, while returning, he had spotted some glowing insects flying around with bodies emitting different colors — he had captured a few for light.

Night fell not long after.

The cave was soon filled with the aroma of smoke and steam from his cooking.

“Mmmmm!” Chris groaned in pleasure. “This one sharp wella!”

(“This one is very delicious / hits well!”)

He dipped a finger into the bubbling pot and licked it clean, his eyes lighting up with satisfaction.

He covered the pot once more. Steam rose steadily, white and warm, carrying the rich scent throughout the cave.

With his stomach pleasantly filled and his body fully restored, Chris rested on the stone bed. A proud, contented smile hovered over his face.

System, reveal my stats to me. He flopped onto the bed comfortably, legs crossed.

Power flowed into his body at an impressive rate as he cultivated diligently through the cold night.
