Nora doesn't respond to Benedict and this only angers him. "I'm talking to you Nora, I expect an answer. What reason did you have for demoting a very capable manager?"

Nora still doesn't reply, making Benedict more angry. "Nora, don't forget who I am. I promise you I won't hesitate to put you in your place."

"What exactly were you thinking, demoting Alex?" Benedict demands, his voice low and furious. Nora regards him with silence for a few moments, her expression unreadable. She's not intimidated by Benedict's anger, but she's also refusing to talk because she knows Master Nicholas hasn't given her the go-ahead to reveal the reason behind Alex's demotion.

Benedict's face reddens with anger as Nora fails to respond. "Don't play dumb with me, Nora," he spits, his voice rising. "I know you're not stupid. You must have had a reason for demoting Alex. What was it? Was it personal? Did he do something to offend you?"
