In Rockport, Nicholas was sipping herbal tea and sitting in front of a blank television, staring at it and then the clock. It was 11pm now and still Jean had not called. He tried to take controlled breaths, hoping it could quiet the anger boiling inside him. Nora watched him from the corner of the room. She could tell from the way he so stiffly picked up his cup and drank his tea, that he was fighting something.

“Nora, tell me what is the most terrifying thing you can do to a man. The kind that will keep him obedient for the rest of his life?”

“Hang him upside down and threaten to hack off his dick.”

Nora frowned, turning her eyes towards the sofa facing the giant glass windows overlooking the city. Morrison was there, answering her question for her.

“That’s an intelligent answer Morrison. I will do that. I would really like to do…”

His phone began to ring. Nicholas unenthusiastically glanced at the screen. He grinned.

“I guess we will have to keep our little plan for another day.”

    Nicholas took Natalie to the hospital. The cops took their statements. Nicholas told them that the guy accidentally fell over the railing while he was trying to beat him up.“I guess Karma came early.” He said.The cops obviously didn’t believe him but they didn’t have evidence that Nicholas threw him off. So they left it there. Nicholas sat next to Natalie’s bed, squeezing her hand and looking at her bruised face. Thankfully it wasn’t so bad.“I’m sorry today turned out to be the worst birthday ever. I wish I didn’t upset you. It’s my fault you ran off and met that idiot.”“No it’s not.” She said faintly. “It's my fault. I was busy wishing for what wasn’t going to happen.
