Chapter 5
The temperature in the elevator seemed to rise drastically. Adrian struggled to act normal, but something was off. He knew it wasn’t anxiety. Sure, he was curious about the person requesting to see him, but this intense heat surging through his body? It wasn’t natural. “Mr. Adrian, are you okay?” Madam Graciela asked, noticing how he was sweating profusely. He forced a smile. “Sure, I am.” But that was a lie. He wasn’t okay. He didn’t feel okay at all. His knees buckled slightly, and he staggered back. Madam Graciela instinctively held his arm to steady him. And almost immediately the elevator dinged open. Men in black suits were already waiting. They bowed the moment the doors slid apart. “Are you sure you're okay?” Madam Graciela asked again, more concerned now. Adrian subtly scanned his internal condition with his ability. Everything read normal, his organs, blood levels, temperature, all fine. So why did he feel like his strength was draining by the second? “Lead the way, Madam Graciela,” he said, still smiling weakly. “Don’t let me delay you.” They began walking through the Platinum floor. It was the highest and most private level of the hotel. The bodyguards followed closely behind. Adrian’s vision began to blur. He could barely stay on his feet, but he pushed forward, refusing to cause a scene. Until his body gave up completely. Everything went black. He collapsed. * * * Adrian slowly opened his eyes. His body felt weak, but he was conscious again. What had happened to him? The room was dimly lit. Heavy curtains blocked the daylight, casting shadows across the space. Struggling to sit up, Adrian reached for a glass of water on the side table and took a sip. Then... A voice broke the silence. Smooth. Calm. Deep. “It’s good to see you in person… Lord Adrian.” Adrian choked on his drink. Eyes wide, he stared into the dark corner of the room where the voice came from. A man dressed in a crisp blue suit stepped out of the shadows into the soft light. His expression carried a strange duality, a smile that was both calm and cold. Without a word, he moved to the couch across from Adrian and sat down, one leg crossing over the other like he owned the space. Adrian’s instincts flared. His hand reached for the flower pot beside the bed. With a burst of adrenaline, he stood up, raised the pot high over his head, ready to defend himself. But then… the impossible happened. The pot flew from his grip. It didn’t fall or break. It hovered in midair , as if gravity had paused, and then floated gently across the room, landing perfectly in the man’s open palm. Adrian's mouth parted in disbelief. He wasn’t hallucinating. He wasn’t dreaming. “You’re not dreaming, Lord Adrian,” the man said casually, placing the pot down on the nearby table. “What you saw is real. I’d advise you not to throw anything else.” Adrian collapsed back onto the bed, stunned, his body drained from confusion and shock. Could this man read his mind? He couldn't piece anything together “Who… who are you?” he asked, his voice low. He tried using his new ability , scanning the man’s body to understand who or what he was. But this time… it failed. He could only see the outer layer of flesh. No organs, no heartbeat, no vitals, just a wall. “You haven’t mastered your abilities yet,” the man said with a smirk. “That’s why you can’t see through me. Not yet.” Adrian’s eyes widened. How did this stranger know he was trying to scan him? How did he even know he had powers? His mind raced with questions, none of which made sense. “I’ll ask one more time,” Adrian said, more firmly now. “Who are you?” The man smiled, as if waiting for that exact question. “My name is Drake Williams,” he said with cool composure. Adrian froze. His eyes widened again, this time in recognition. “Wait… Drake Williams? As in the CEO of Diamond Group? One of the largest conglomerates in South Korea?” Drake tilted his head slightly. “So you do know me.” Adrian stared, still stunned. “You’re a global force, your company controls tech, energy, trade… even hospitals. What are you doing here?” Drake’s voice dropped into something more serious. “Because I’m not just the CEO of Diamond Group. I am your grandfather’s right-hand man” Adrian blinked. He couldn’t speak. His brain was trying to process too much, too fast. “Is this… some kind of joke?” he finally said. “I’m an orphan. I’ve never had a family.” “That’s only because you don’t know the truth yet,” Drake replied calmly. “Twenty years ago, several powerful underground clans conspired to destroy your parents and their empire. To protect you, they made the ultimate sacrifice.” “They placed you in an orphanage and registered your name in such a way that no matter where life took you… you would always carry the Zhao name.” “Your parents didn’t abandon you, Adrian. They died protecting you.” Drake’s voice softened for a brief moment, eyes clouded with painful memory. Adrian’s throat tightened. He had no idea how to respond. He didn’t want to believe it, but deep inside, something resonated. Still, he forced himself to speak. “And why should I believe any of this?” Drake leaned forward slowly, his eyes glinting. “Because you have no idea who you really are… Lord Adrian.” Adrian frowned. “No,” he snapped. “You don’t know who I am.” “I’m Adrian Zhao. A doctor no one respected. A man whose wife divorced him because she thought I was trash. I woke up from a coma with a freak ability that shouldn’t exist. That’s who I am.” For a brief moment, Drake said nothing. Then suddenly... He vanished. One second he was sitting on the couch. The next... WHOOSH! A sharp gust of wind blasted across Adrian’s face. Curtains fluttered. The water in the glass trembled violently. In the blink of an eye, Drake was right in front of him. Standing inches away from the bed. No footsteps. No blur. Just… terrifying speed. Adrian stumbled backward, nearly tripping. “Did you just, move like that? Like… like a vampire?” he breathed out, stunned. Drake didn’t answer the question. He didn’t need to. His voice was low, sharp, and unwavering. “That… is not who you are.” “You are Adrian Zhao… heir of the most powerful bloodline in all of Asia and beyond. Your family controls wealth, governments, economies. With one call, you can raise a nation—or bring it to its knees.” “You… are no ordinary man.”

"You look so beautiful," she whispered, setting the comb down delicately.Valentina, in her late twenties, gave a nervous smile. “Mum, do I really have to do this? You know how much I hate public gatherings... because of my condition.”“Valentina,” Madam Graciela said, her voice turning firm but loving, “you’re my only child. It’s time you step into the light. You’ve been hiding behind your modeling career for too long. This is just an extension of your brand. Vaughn Group is your legacy.”Valentina stared at her gloves, long, fashionable, perfectly matching her dress. But to her, they weren’t a fashion statement. They were armor. A desperate shield against the world’s invisible filth.“I know, Mum,” she said quietly. “But what if I make a scene? What if...”“No one will touch you,” Madam Graciela assured. “Security has been instructed. You will be safe. You’ve come a long wa

Chapter 7Adrian stood by the window, sipping his water as Drake adjusted his cufflinks with casual grace."I've already called Dior," Drake said without looking up. "The regional manager himself will be expecting you. He'll personally assist you with your selection.""Is that necessary? Can't I just do that alone? By myself?" Adrian asked, frowning slightly."You can't, Lord Adrian. Your father is one of the biggest sponsors of Dior Group, and they have to respect that."Adrian sighed. "Then I guess I don't need an entourage, right? No black cars, no bodyguards, just me."Drake raised a brow. "You sure?""The quieter I stay, the more normal this feels."Drake chuckled.
