Chapter 1
The Cost of a Kneel
"Please, Father! I am begging you on my knees! Just fifty thousand dollars," Liam cried, his fingers desperately clawing at the hem of Raymond Vane’s trousers.
"I’ll sign a lifetime slave contract! I’ll work for Vane Realty for the rest of my life without a single cent of pay! Just save my daughter’s life!" The dining room of the Vane mansion was dead silent, save for the clicking of silverware against fine china. The floor beneath Liam's knees was imported Italian marble—cold, pristine, and entirely unyielding. Above him sat a lavish feast of prime rib and vintage wine. Raymond Vane didn't even look down. He calmly chewed his steak, swallowed, and then used his heavy designer boot to ruthlessly kick Liam’s hands away from his leg. "Get your filthy, penniless hands off my suit, Monkey!," Raymond muttered, his voice dripping with absolute disgust. "You’ve been married to my daughter for three years, and you still carry yourself like a stray dog barking for scraps. Stand up, you smelling sheep! You’re making the marble look dirty, don't you know that your stray dog daughter looks like you? "She’s not a stray dog, Raymond! She’s your granddaughter! She’s two years old!" Liam’s voice cracked, his chest heaving as he forced himself back up to his knees, ignoring the sharp pain in his shins. "Lily had a massive epileptic seizure this afternoon! The doctors said her brain can't take another one without immediate neuro-surgery! The hospital won't clear the operating theatre unless I deposit the baseline f*e tonight! Diana's phone has been completely switched off for days—I've called her a hundred times! Please, you have the money!" Gloria Vane elegantly wiped the corners of her mouth with a silk napkin, her heavily contoured face twisting into a cruel, patronizing smirk. "Granddaughter? Don't insult our lineage, garbage. That defective thing in the hospital carries your worthless, cursed blood. Why would we waste fifty thousand dollars on an epileptic girl who is destined to die anyway?" "She is an innocent child!" Liam screamed, his hands clenching into tight, bloodless fists on the cold floor. "How can you sit there and say that?" "Because it’s the truth," Gloria sneered, leaning forward, her eyes narrowing into two venomous slits. "You are an absolute curse. You have zero family name, zero inheritance, and zero value. Everything that crawls out of you is bound to be deformed, broken, and full of bad luck. Look at you—a dead man walking among the living. Do you honestly think Vane wealth is meant to finance your genetic garbage?" Raymond laughed, a short, barking sound as he refilled his wine glass. "My wife is right. We told Diana from the very beginning to abort that mistake. We didn't need your toxic, peasant blood contaminating our family tree. But you? You crawled on your knees back then, weeping and begging her to keep it. And look what your pathetic begging got you—a broken, seizing brat." "Diana agreed to keep her!" Liam choked out, tears of sheer rage and agony finally blinding his charcoal-grey eyes. "She is my wife! She loved Lily!" "Loved her? You're a senseless fool! Gloria mocked, laughing shrilly. "Is that why she happily packed her bags and went on a three-week luxury vacation to Aspen with Marcus Quinn? She explicitly turned her phone off because she was sick to death of your poverty!. It is honestly beautiful how she left you behind in your own filth. She’s finally spending time with a real man, a billionaire young master who actually belongs in our world." "She... she's with Marcus?" Liam whispered, the air completely leaving his lungs. The room seemed to spin sideways. His wife hadn't gone alone to clear her mind. She had left her seizing, epileptic daughter to be with the man who had been circling their marriage like a vulture. "Of course she is," Raymond scoffed, pointing his silver fork directly at Liam's face. "Marcus notices things. Marcus acts. Marcus is twice the man you will ever be. If Marcus were the father, that child wouldn't be shaking herself to death in a public ward right now. Now, listen to me closely, furniture. I wouldn't spend a single dime to save a stray pup, let alone your defective offspring. Take your bad luck and get the hell out of my house before I have security drag you to the gutter." "You truly won't help her?" Liam asked, his voice suddenly dropping to a whisper. The frantic, weeping beggar vanished. Something deep inside his soul fractured, and a terrifying, freezing numbness began to spread through his veins. His charcoal-grey eyes turned completely icy as he stared at his in-laws. "We wouldn't give you a single cent if the brat was drawing her last breath right on this table," Gloria snapped, gesturing to her personal assistant. "Now leave us in pieces, since you refused to leave our daughter in peace. Shoo. Get out." Liam stood up slowly. He didn't shout. He didn't break a single plate. For three years, he had quietly swallowed their daily insults, cleaned their mansion, and acted as their literal footstool out of love for his family. But tonight, they had stamped on his daughter's dying body. He turned on his heel and sprinted out of the dining room, leaving the Vane mansion behind him in the pouring rain. The torrential storm outside matched the absolute chaos in his chest. Liam ran the six blocks to the metropolitan hospital, his clothes thoroughly soaked, his breath coming in ragged, burning gasps. He burst through the emergency room sliding doors, his boots squeaking against the polished floor as he ran straight toward the intensive care unit. "Sir! You can't be back here without a badge!" a floor nurse shouted, trying to intercept him. Liam ignored her entirely, his eyes scanning the glass recovery rooms until he slammed his hands against the door of Room 402. He threw it open, his heart hammering violently against his fractured pride. Lily was lying in the small hospital bed. The heavy, terrifying oxygen mask was gone, and her pale cheeks had a faint, healthy flush of color returning to them. The seizure monitoring wires were neatly stacked. Sitting in the vinyl chair beside her bed, still wearing his dusty construction boots and a sweat-stained work shirt, was Daniel Park. Liam froze in the doorway, his hands shaking as he looked from his daughter to his best friend. "Daniel... what... What happened? Did the finance desk agree to wait for the money?" Daniel stood up slowly, a tired but fiercely loyal smile breaking through the exhaustion on his face. He walked over and placed his hand on Liam’s soaked shoulder. "The neuro-surgery is already over, brother," Daniel whispered fiercely. "She’s stable. The lead surgeon said she passed the critical threshold. She’s going to be completely fine." Liam’s knees nearly gave out from the sudden, overwhelming wave of relief. He clutched the edge of the wooden doorframe just to stay upright. "But... the fifty thousand dollars. The finance director said they would cancel the operation if the deposit wasn't cleared by six o'clock sharp. The Vanes... they kicked me out. They told me they wouldn't waste money on a girl destined to die." Daniel’s jaw tightened until the bone practically showed through his skin, a flash of pure, murderous anger crossing his eyes before he forced his expression to soften. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stamped, fully cleared medical receipt. "I took out a secondary high-interest loan against my truck and completely emptied my commercial business savings account, Liam," Daniel said simply, as if breaking his own financial backbone were a casual daily task. "I went to the desk at five-fifty. I wasn't going to sit back and watch your world fall apart while those high-society monsters ate their luxury steak dinners. The bill is fully paid. Lily is safe." Liam stared at the stamped receipt, tears finally blinding his vision. His own wife was thousands of miles away on a luxury vacation with another man, ignoring his frantic calls while her child seized. His wealthy in-laws had called his daughter a genetic mistake and spit on his face. Yet, a working-class friend had ruined his own life just to keep Liam's little girl breathing. "Daniel... I don't even know how I'll ever repay you," Liam choked out, his voice cracking completely as he looked down. "I have absolutely nothing left to my name." "You don't owe me a single cent, Liam. We're brothers, and brothers don't let each other's kids die," Daniel said firmly, squeezing his shoulder with iron strength. "Don't ever look down. Now go sit with your daughter." Liam walked over to the bedside, dropping heavily into the vinyl chair. He gently took Lily’s tiny, delicate hand in his large, calloused fingers. Her small eyelids fluttered open for a brief second, a faint, beautiful dimpled smile appearing on her face when she recognized his scent. Daddy's here, my sweet angel, Liam thought, his jaw clenching so hard it ached as a cold, unyielding resolve took permanent root deep inside his chest. I will protect you from their poison. And I will make every single person who stood by and cursed your existence wish they had never been born.Expand

The Trillionaire They Threw Away Last Warning
Diana marched in first, her high heels clicking aggressively against the linoleum flooring, while Gloria followed closely behind, her face heavily contoured and a smug, venomous smirk resting on her lips. They didn't look like women who had buried a family member a day ago; they looked entirely combative.Daniel stood up instantly, his chair scraping violently against the floor"What the hell are you doing here? Who gave you the right to badge in like this?" "Relax, Daniel," Gloria said, waving a manicured hand dismissively as she adjusted her expensive pearl necklace "We didn't come here to speak to you. We came to see this cripple lying down motionless over there"She stopped right at the foot of the bed, her sharp brown eyes raking over Liam’s swollen face, closed eye, and tightly wrapped torso with pure, unadulterated disgust."Look at you," Gloria sneered, a condescending laugh slipping through her lips”. "Absolutely pathetic. Getting into street brawls and running off to drin

The Trillionaire They Threw Away The Only Way Out
The ceiling was white. That was the very first thing Liam registered—a flat, bleached white ceiling with a single fluorescent light strip running down its center. Then the smell hit him. It was a suffocating wave of strong antiseptic and clean industrial linen. He knew exactly where he was before he even fully managed to open his eyes.He tried to shift his weight on the mattress, and his fractured ribs immediately reminded him why that was a terrible idea."Ah..." Liam gasped, a sharp blade of pain ripping through his chest. He exhaled a ragged breath slowly, waiting for the worst of the blinding agony to pass. His left eye was swollen almost entirely shut, and his left shoulder felt as if someone had driven a rusted nail straight through the joint and left it there. He lay perfectly still, staring blankly up as his mind struggled to catch up to his broken body. The dive bar, Marcus Quinn, the heavy beating and then, a shadow falling gently across his face.“Can you hear me? Stay pe
