"Yeah. But when you're better, you're taking me properly. This one is just groceries. We're running out of everything."

Killian's brows drew together.

"I'll go with you. It could be dangerous."

"I'll be fine, Killian. It's just groceries."

"I still don't want you going alone." His voice was firm now, a hint of protectiveness shadowing his concern.

"Don't be scared."

"Janelle..." He said again, his tone deeper, more serious.

She sighed. "Fine. I'll ask Owen to come with me. I also need to grab some of my clothes..."

"You can just move back in." Killian said, his eyes holding hers. "You're my girlfriend now. I want you here, with me. Safe."

Janelle raised an amused brow.

"And what would you pay in return for that offer?"

Killian reached for her, gently pulling her closer and pressing a soft kiss to her lips.

"I can give you more of this if you want."

“What are you saying?” Amelia asked feigning ignorance so as not to be obvious that she was affected by his words. “Look, aunt June has always had it out for me. I know that, even if I don't care about her opinions about me, she is still your mother. Anyways, I am not doing this because of her, but because Uncle Leon trusts me and I know he wants us to be together which I am grateful for. But for your reputation to not be dented, you have to go back home.” “*Sighs* Okay… tell me something, you are about to leave again are you not? Or maybe you have something important that you want to do but you aren't telling me.” Amelia blurted out. Luca smiled and said, “Having a childhood friend as a partner sure has its perks, one can never hide from them… Well, I do have something to do. It will take longer than usual, but I will keep in touch. I promise!” Luca uttered. “Am I ever going to see you again?” Amelia asked with sadness in her eyes, somehow she felt that he was going to do s

She has gotten better and wanted to find out more on Amelia Thornton to know what she thinks about his son, surprisingly she had grown to be very beautiful and that alone made her believe that Amelia was perfect for her son. But then she found out that Amelia was not in love with her son, despite her mother's imputes so she wanted someone else for Jason. So Eunice, who had someone tailing Amelia, decided to break the news to him about her disappearance. “She what?” he asked again, voice low but laced with disbelief. “She left the house,” Mrs. Stewart replied, sipping her tea like it was gossip she could barely contain. “Without telling anyone. Drove straight to Luca Ashford’s place. Stayed there for hours. Maybe overnight.” Jason’s jaw clenched so tightly a muscle twitched. “And you let her?” “Sh

“I… I don’t know how to stop fighting anymore,” June admitted, voice barely above a whisper. “Then stop,” Leon said gently. “Let her live. Let us all live. Enough of these battles. The war for status is killing us all.” For a long moment, no one moved. Then Amelia walked toward her mother and reached out slowly. “Mum… I don’t hate you. I just need you to let me go.” June looked at her daughter, eyes rimmed red. “And if he breaks your heart?” “Then I’ll break,” Amelia said. “But it’ll be my break to heal from. Not yours to decide.” The older woman looked at both her husband and daughter. For once, she seemed outnumbered not by force, but by truth. And perhaps, a part of her knew they were right. Still, pride is a difficult cage to walk out of. “I need time,” June murmured, walking away from the window toward the hallway. “I need time to understand all this.” Leon nodded. “Take your time. But don’t use it building more walls.” As she disappeared up the staircase, the tension

The Luca she knew had no job or at least he owned a quarry and had travelled for quite a while now, buy yet to return to her besides for days now, June her mother had been pressuring her to go apologize to the Stewart family so they wouldn't be ostracized from the public’s event. ***Two days ago*** “You do realise that Jason loves you right? He was just upset that you turned him down for that nincompoop, so why on earth would you go over to his place for days? Does he even have a decent place to live?” Amelia didn't respond to that, as she was still shocked about Luca's new home. But rather than say anything about it, she said; “You know what mum, I have had enough with Jason Stewart. He has lost all the respect I had for him after putting our family's name like that out in the open! And I know it's because you miss

"My mom didn't know at first. I got good at hiding it. Until one day she caught me crying alone in the hallway. I lied. Said it was nothing. But she knew, she somehow did. She held me tight, she didn't push me away. Just told me I didn't have to pretend with her." She smiled faintly at the memory. "It took time... But I healed." Killian shifted, brushing his fingers along her cheek. "You're incredible, you know that?" She blushed. "No, I'm not." "You are." He leaned in, kissing her forehead first. "For standing up for George. For forgiving your parents. For letting me in, even when I didn't deserve it." Their eyes met, she cupped his face gently, mindful of his injury, and whispered. "You do deserve it." He kissed her then, slow, tender, lingering with all the things he hadn't said yet. And she kissed him back, her fingers tangling in his shirt. When they finally pulled apart, Killian rested his forehead against hers. "Thank you for being here. For being you." "I'm not going

At the table, Janelle sat beside Killian, carefully feeding him as if no one else was there. Owen raised a brow, watching the pair. "I'm officially jealous of you, Killian." "Stop being a grouch and eat your dinner." Killian replied, shrugging, before opening his mouth for another bite from Janelle. "You should eat too." Killian added, glancing at her with a smile. "I will." She said, brushing her hair back with her free hand. "After you take your medication." Across the table, George watched them quietly. Then, his gaze flicked to Killian's bandaged arm. "What happened to your arm?" "A bullet wound." Killian answered simply. George's eyes widened. "Oh..." Janelle shot Killian a look. "Don't scare him with your heroics." After dinner, Owen stood, stretching lazily. "Alright. I'll get out of your hair now. You three take care of yourselves." "Thanks for today." Janelle said, walking him to the door. With Owen gone, the house fell into a peaceful quiet. Later,
