*Chapter 22: Tier Two*

Leo's Ω symbol was glowing. Not the calm blue Rose knew. It was red. Deep, furious red.

Finn stepped out of the black car and smiled.

"Ooh, Leo. I guess you're here to take revenge," Finn said. "For abducting your sweetheart? That wasn't me. That was the boss."

He raised his hand. In seconds, the air tore open. Aliens crawled out. Androids powered up. His backup army.

Leo didn't say a word. He summoned his own.

Far in the distance, both armies clashed. Roars. Metal hittin

*CHAPTER 31: THE BEAST THAT FLED**Aethelgard Prime Island - The Shore*Leo and his team were waiting at the shore. They had been standing there for minutes but they hadn't gotten any response from the sea beast. The water was calm. Too calm."What's wrong?" Rose asked, her hand tight around her ring. They were all prepared to end everything that day, even though they had just had an epic battle with the android. Their bodies were still shaking from it.Leo stared at the black water. It used to boil whenever the sea beast was near. Now nothing. Just waves."Alright. I think I know what I will do," Leo said as he used his molecular overlord stage, that's tier two, to stir the water to make it very hot. He raised both hands and the sea in front of them started to steam, bubbling, thinking the sea beast would have to expose itself if it was hiding deep down. But nothing happened. No shadow. No roar."It must have sensed that you had defeated the android and must have fled. Remember that

---*CHAPTER 30: MY TURN*The war still continued.Dead bodies of alien beasts lay fallen everywhere on the black sand of Aethelgard Prime, blood mixing with sea foam, while Leo headed straight towards the android.Whatever the case was, he knew he was really in for it. This android was not the same one he fought before. It had upgraded more than it was before, taller, heavier, its alien bone armor grown into its steel. It wanted to fight him to the core."You can do it, Leo," Rose called from behind, her voice shaking but loud enough to cut through the gunfire. And just like that, Leo remembered the words of his mother from years past.*Leo Memory Log - New Orleans - 7 Years Ago*Leo moved to the sitting room where his mother was waiting. She had called him. No mission brief. No training. Just her sitting there with two cups of tea gone cold.He knew he was in for a special conversation with his mom. Her face had that look."Leo, come sit," she began, patting the couch beside her. "I

---*CHAPTER 29: THE SHORE WAR**Aethelgard Prime Island - Armory*Leo, Rose, and Henry geared up as fast as humanly possible, breath fogging in the cold bunker air.Rose and Henry slammed their rings into the charging cradles, watching the amber and blue lights climb from red to full. The soft whine of overcharge filled the room.Miranda stood apart, eyes closed, her system running a full diagnostic. Silver threads crawled up her neck as she ensured her core was at one hundred percent. Enough destructive output to take down an entire battalion. Enough to take down the android."I guess we should take them down at the shore before they come toward us," Leo suggested, sealing his bionic vambrace with a hiss. "We can deal with the sea beasts there too. It's definitely part of the same wave.""Great plan, Leo," Miranda replied, opening her eyes. The silver in them pulsed once. "Don't let them touch the bunker. If they breach the perimeter, the refugees inside are dead."Leo nodded toward

  • Chapter 28 The Spar

*CHAPTER 28: THE SPAR**Aethelgard Prime Island - Training Grounds*Miranda and Rose stared at each other across the cracked tarmac, two blades humming in the cold.Rose tried to keep up. She had constructed a thin, vibrating blade from her healing ring, the light pulsing amber with every heartbeat. It was sharp enough to cut steel, but her wrist trembled holding it. Too much power, too new.She knew Miranda was going easy on her. No super speed. No super strength. No molecular overload. Just footwork and patience."You have an issue with me?" Miranda asked suddenly, not unkindly. Curiosity laced her voice as she parried Rose's clumsy strike and stepped back. "You have been feeling and acting weird all around me while we train. Tell me."Rose's teeth clenched. Her amber blade flickered."Me? No. Why would I have an issue with you?" The lie came out too fast, too tight. Her knuckles went white around the ring.Miranda lowered her blade a fraction. Her silver eyes softened."Alright. Ri

It was easy to get her on our side."Finn's hand froze halfway to forming a blade. Silver nanites sparked under his skin and died. His jaw tightened until the muscle jumped."Of course. Why would I forget my own face. She went rogue before I did."*MEMORY LOG // SEVEN YEARS AGO // OUTER SECTOR TRAINING GROUNDS*The dust hadn't settled yet.Leo, Finn, and Henry had just come back from the ridge run. His bionic leg fired with a hiss and he closed six feet in a blink, blade aimed for Miranda's throat, using every ounce of his Tier Two super strength.CLANG.The impact rang across the water.
