“Welcome Sir, we’ve been expecting you, please do come in and have a sit.” As we enter a room,a sweet feminine voice coming from the corner said.
"I’m the director and I’ll deal with your business in person.
You want to check your account balance right? ” she said as she sat in front of her desk, took a laptop and a mini kind of ATM machine which she brought from a drawer."Can you please give me the card?” She asked politely.
I brought it out from my jean pocket and gave it to her.
She placed the card into the machine, the machine kind of started to scan the card, immediately after that an information popped up on her computer. I saw a part of it which contained a passport photograph of someone who looked exactly like. The name was Tony Dark from DARK DRAGON.
That name again, where did I hear that from, I just couldn’t remember. Not able to rest, I adjusted backwards.
"So what does the card say, how much is in it?” I asked all curiously.
"Hmm, there's only one figure here.” She said as she widened her eyes.
"One figure?” So the woman was actually a liar. I was fooled..
"It’s nine.” She paused looking at my expression.
“9 Billion...”
“Billion?!” I exclaimed.
"Are you saying $9,000,000,000 is in that card...”
"Yes, It’s $9,000,000,000 Mr tony. That’s the balance you have in the card and if you don’t believe me…." She got up, brought her laptop to me and continued.
"Look here this is it.” She showed me her laptop and I could see it there clearly, the name, the passport and the balance with how much had been used from the account before, it was all there staring at me right in the eye but I still found it hard to believe.
"Mr Tony, my name is Maggie, Maggie Devante. I am the director of Martze Bank and we also have investments with other industries, including chains of hotels, restaurants, event centres and so on."
"Here is my business card, my phone number is there, remember you can call me anytime you are in need of anything, anything at all, no matter how small and yes here is your card, thank you for always banking with us Mr tony, it’s always a pleasure.” She said with a wink.
I took the card and barely got up from there, I barely made my way from her office back to the elevator in one piece. Getting back to the ground floor I saw Uloma and Emeka, as expected they were also waiting to see the outcome of the result, its really crazy though but suddenly all their barking and insult meant nothing to me.
I walked past both of them gallantly with a smile without even flinching as they muttered words behind me. I walked out of that bank, a changed man.
I needed some time to sort out my thoughts. The mysterious woman, the dark dragon, the huge wealth...
But my first thing to do was to take my stuff in the restaurant. There might be something important relating to my past.
But when I arrived there,my working tools and all the stuff I left were lying on the floor close to the dust bin that is usually kept outside the restaurant. Then my boss came outside to throw something in the bin.
"Why is my stuff lying next to the bin?” I said in the calmest way I could ever speak.
“What were you expecting exactly, that we would all throw a welcome party awaiting your return, you know assuming oga listen to me on time you would have been fired since, you’re useless man but no worries at least he has already finally agreed to fire you, so o boy you are fired."
I was angry that he would fire me in such a rude way but I didn’t really mind because I was eventually going to quit sooner or later.
"What of my salary?” I asked. He laughed.
“What salary, what salary are you talking about exactly?” he asked, pretending not to know.
"I am talking about my salary for the month, I worked last month and more than half of this month, at least I am supposed to get half of the salary."
“Does a man like you need the salary, I mean what do you use it for exactly, is it for yourself, that it doesn’t even show on or that your wife is nothing but a cheap whore?”
Just then John, my closest colleague, came out to also trash something when he heard my conversation with the boss.
“All I am asking for is the pay that I worked for, why are you bringing my wife into this?” I asked, getting pissed.
"But am I lying? Is she not an ashawo, sleeping around from one man to the other……”
"That is enough. If you keep on talking, you would regret it.” I said in anger.
"Look who's talking, cockroaches are talking when humans are talking.” He said as he started laughing.
"Sir don’t you think that’s a little bit too much?” John said.
"You better keep quiet or it will be you next, will you get back to work.” He shouted.
"Now back to you…” I clenched my fists as he wanted to start again.
I was thinking about how I could make him pay, the thought of Maggie’s last words came to mind.
"She said her bank invested in the restaurant, could hmm”. I brought out her business card, the one she gave me and pulled a quick call through to her.
"Hi Maggie, sorry for calling you so soon but I am a little curious, is Food Perfection one of the restaurants that your banks have invested in?” I asked.
“Wait let me check, yes why do you ask?”
“I need you to do me a quick favour and fire my old boss I have had it with, he deserves even way more than this, and also the promotion of someone that deserves it too?” I asked.
"Of course I can pull a few strings and make that happen, give me his name and the branch name too, give me a few seconds.” She hung the phone.
I turned back and started to held back to the restaurant so I could watch what was about to happen. As I was getting closer to the restaurants I could hear a shout.
I entered the restaurant and saw my boss begging the manager.
“Please sir, have mercy on me."
"I promise I will clean, sweep or mop anything you say I should do. I will do everything I promise.”
So soon.
I smiled. That was the power of money.
As he continued to beg I couldn’t help but laugh, it was an amazing sight, I noticed John too, he seemed so shocked too, pretty sure he was surprised about his promotion, as I was about to leave, he ran over to me.
"Dude, do you understand what just happened here?” he asked, puzzled.
"Not at all men, I am as surprised as you are.” I replied, smirking.
"Although we all know he had this coming, his days of terrorising are hereby officially over.” I added.
John smiled along.
"Well since I am now the new supervisor, I can hire you back.” He said happily.
"No thanks John, the days of me being a waiter are long gone. I am going to find myself.” I said to him with a smile, as I waved him goodbye and hit the street.
I started to learn what having power taste like.

I wanted to save his face the disgrace of his past life. I asked him to walk to the cafeteria while I follow him behind and he did as I commanded him. The cafeteria is a big one with so many serving tables here and there. Some of the costumers were eating some Kenyan delicacies and you needed to see how they were devouring the "sumptuous" meal. It had a good aroma that would cause anyone that is famished to salivate but this wasn't the time to try their food. Douglas and I had something important to discuss. We sat at the nearest serving table as I signaled the waiter to get us soft drinks. My kindness caused Douglas to fear the more. He thought I was doing him a favour that he would pay back in a thousand folds. But this wasn't so. He wasn't thinking well enough. I wanted to hear his story. Everything about him. The waiter had served us the drinks. It was enough to calm my nerves down. I gulped it as I was thirsty. Douglas felt very reluctant to take his drink. But I asked him to tak
Chapter 226: Guess Who I Found?

Chapter 225: The Return of George
Maggie and I were having all the fun in this world. It was just she and I. No disturbance. I kept the news of Mama's death at the back of my memory. I wouldn't let it interfere with the nice time I was having with the love of my life. The wailing was for Uloma and Lizzy to do. I wailed enough while she was alive. Even in her wickedness, I loved her. I hope that her soul find rest in heaven or wherever! It's God's choice not mine. It was the first time Maggie had a sexual experience. She was a virgin. No one would believe she was because she was a full grown up lady. All through her years with Malid, they maintained "sexual distancing". Malid must have his own good sides too. Waiting till after marriage before such an experience must have come with a lot of patience. But maybe he wasn't patient enough so he loose his girl and not only his girl, but now, his life. I wonder what explanation he was going to give his creator for taking the life that was given to him on a platter of gold. I
Chapter 224: Farewell to a Miserable Life

But their efforts were not amounting to any positive result.
Chapter 223: Peace Comes After Justice

The bridal train were not left out too. The songs were so melodious. I mean, it was remedy for any broken heart. The musical instruments synchronized without any flop and we were just taking different steps - from left to right. We heard of the tragedy. It was as though we didn't hear the right thing. But it was true. Zero lies. It was so pathetic - the untimely death of Malid. No one could have thought that he would kick the bucket so quickly with the life of wealth he lived in. It was no news that he killed himself with poison right inside his room. He just wasted his life for nothing. He threw his poor family into mourning and complete bitterness. Chapter 222: The Last Drink
Nobody would believe that I "snatched" Maggie from him. After all, I didn't do that. She simply got too tired of him so she "kicked" him out of her life and will not allow him back. Thank God for Thunder who stopped him right at the gate perhaps he would have done something worst. He was such an animal. I think God assigned some angels to create him and that day, they were too tired to add a pitch of calmness in him. He just liked to burn everywhere he is found. But the fire from a lantern is not same as the one that erupts from a cooking gas. Thunder's punches were enough lessons for him and a warning never to thread the path of lions like us. Malid got home badly injured. He collapsed on his couch in tears. He had sacked all his staff and some of them resigned because they could no longer be patient with him. He was acting like a demigod and they wouldn't let another man trample on them like a snake Malid hates to see. He was growing more wild by the day so they all had to leave him
