Chapter 49

The Hamilton family stood in stunned silence for a moment, staring at me as if I had just declared war on the most powerful dynasty in the city.

Mr. Hamilton's shock quickly transformed into rage. "Are you trying to increase our wrath upon your pathetic family?" he demanded, his voice rising with each word.

"I'm trying to resolve this situation peacefully," I replied calmly. "I will pay the full compensation for your wife's vase."

Mrs. Hamilton looked up from the broken pieces, her tear-streaked face filled with disbelief. "Did this peasant just say he would pay us one hundred million dollars?"

The Hamilton patriarch's eyes swept over me from head to toe, taking in my modest clothing and unremarkable appearance. Then he threw his head back and laughed - a harsh, mocking sound that echoed through the destroyed foyer.

"Look at this fool!" Mr. Hamilton wheezed between fits of laughter. "He can't even afford to dress himself in expensive clothes, and he thinks he can pay us a h

MICHAEL'S POVThe other customers at nearby counters turned to stare, and several of them started chuckling when they saw me."Did he just say one hundred million?" one of the suited men asked incredulously."This homeless-looking guy thinks he's got a hundred million dollars!" another added, shaking his head in amusement. The Hamilton patriarch was practically doubled over with glee. "This is better than any comedy show I've ever seen!""I told you he was delusional," his wife added. "But this level of delusion is truly spectacular."The bank teller wiped tears from his eyes, still chuckling. "Sir, let me explain something to you. The people who withdraw amounts like that don't show up here looking like they just crawled out of a dumpster.""That's right!" Carmen called out. "Tell him!""They arrive in chauffeur-driven Bentleys," the teller continued, enjoying his audience. "They wear custom Italian suits that cost more than your yearly income—assuming you even have an income. They d

Chapter 51The moment I stepped up to the counter, the bank teller barely glanced up from his paperwork. When he finally looked at me, his expression immediately shifted to one of disdain."What do you want?" he asked curtly, his tone suggesting I was already wasting his valuable time."I need to withdraw some funds from my account," I replied politely. He looked me up and down with obvious disgust, taking in my simple clothes and casual appearance. Without another word, he pointed dismissively toward the opposite side of the bank."You need to go to that counter over there," he said, already turning his attention to the next person in line—a man in an expensive tailored suit.I stood there, stunned by his blatant dismissal. "Excuse me, but why are you sending me to another counter while you're helping other people withdraw money right here?"The teller didn't even look at me as he processed the wealthy man's transaction. "Sir, please move along. You're holding up the line."Behind me

The Hamilton patriarch studied me with cold, calculating eyes. "You're that confident, are you? Fine. When you fail—and you will fail—I want you to remember that you chose this humiliation yourself.""Darling," the Hamilton matriarch tugged at her husband's sleeve, "why are we entertaining this obvious fraud? He's clearly stalling for time, hoping we'll give up and leave.""Because, my dear," the patriarch replied with a sinister smile, "I want to watch him fall apart completely when reality hits him. The greater his delusion, the sweeter his downfall will be."Tina grabbed my arm roughly. "Michael, I'm begging you to stop this insanity! You're going to get us all killed!""Let go of me," I said quietly, but she tightened her grip."No! I won't let you drag this family into deeper trouble with your ridiculous fantasies!""He's not dragging us anywhere," Robert said bitterly. "We're already in the deepest trouble possible because of his worthless presence in our lives."Carmen nodded v

MICHAEL'S POVI stared at the Hamilton patriarch, my jaw clenched with determination. "I agree to the bet."The old man's eyes gleamed with malicious satisfaction. "Perfect. When you fail to produce even a fraction of that money, I'll personally make sure your punishment is twice as severe.""Just give me your account number," I said, pulling out my phone. He rattled off the numbers with obvious glee, probably already imagining how he'd humiliate me in front of everyone. I opened my banking app and began entering the transfer details, but the moment I hit submit, the screen froze."Come on," I muttered, tapping the screen repeatedly. The app was glitching, refusing to load properly. The patriarch burst into laughter. "Oh, this is rich! He's already coming up with excuses!""What's wrong now, Michael?" Carmen sneered from behind me. "Let me guess—your imaginary bank account is having technical difficulties?"I tried refreshing the app, but it kept crashing. Frustration bubbled up insid

  • CHAPTER 48

MICHAEL'S POVThe marble floor was cold, but Sarah’s family looked even colder as they lay down, trembling, waiting for the Patriarch’s punishment. I could feel the shame and terror radiating off all of them, and it only made my jaw clench harder. Was this what they’d been reduced to—waiting to be whipped for a vase they never even wanted?Sarah’s father was on his knees, hands clasped together, voice hoarse from begging. “Please, Patriarch Hamilton, please! Isn’t this punishment too much? Two hundred strokes… My family—my wife, my daughters—they’ll die!”The Patriarch just sneered, waving him off like a bug. “You break a hundred-million-dollar vase and expect sympathy? Pathetic. If you don’t want your family to suffer, pay up—one hundred million dollars, right now.”Sarah’s mother was sobbing, clutching at the Matriarch’s skirt. “Please, we’re not criminals, we’re just—”The Matriarch yanked her leg away, curling her lip. “You’re beneath criminals. At least a thief knows to pay his d
