Just as Sarah stepped aside, Lily walked in.She wore a cream sweater. Her black hair was brushed back. Her face was clean, though still bruised. Her eyes were steady. Lily stopped near the doorway."Sit," Ethan muttered gently. "Please."Lily crossed the room and sat in an armchair opposite him.Sarah glanced at both of them. Then she quietly stepped out and closed the door.Silence settled in the room.Lily kept her hands together in her lap. Her fingers were twisting. She stared at the carpet. "I did not expect any of this," Lily met his eyes.

The convoy rolled up a long, curved driveway lined with tall trees.At the end of it stood a pair of black iron gates, twice the height of a person. Two guards in black suits pulled them open, and the vehicles passed through one by one.
