The silence in the room was heavy, every glance darting between Dominic and Grandma White like the next word would set the place ablaze. “Honestly,” muttered Aunt Clara, “does anyone else find this whole thing ridiculous? Dominic leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching Grandma White with a calm expression. “You don’t have to like me, Grandma, but I’m the reason you’re now members of the Empire of Commerce.”Gregory let out a loud laugh, clapping his hands mockingly. “You? Sophia placed the last plate of scrambled eggs on the table, sighing as she wiped her hands on her apron. Breakfast with Grandma White and the rest of the family was always tense, especially after the whole Dominic fiasco.“Where’s the tea, Sophia? I’m not getting any younger here,” Grandma White barked, tapping her spoon against her cup.“Yes, Grandma, it’s coming,” Sophia replied, trying to keep her tone neutral. Just as she turned to grab the kettle, her phone buzzed loudly on the counter. She glanced at the screen and saw an unknown number.Frowning, she picked up the call. “Hello?”“Good morning! Am I speaking to Miss Sophia White?” a cheerful voice asked on the other end.“Yes, this is she,” Sophia replied cautiously.“I’m calling from the Empire of Commerce to inform you that your family’s application for membership has been approved! Dominic sat on the couch, rubbing his temples as Sophia glared at him. Her arms were crossed tightly across her chest, and her mouth was set in a thin line.“So, do you have any idea what you’ve just done?” Sophia’s voice was a cold, hard whisper, like she was barely keeping her anger under control.Dominic looked up, trying to offer her a soft smile. “Morning to you, too.”“Don’t ‘morning’ me, Dominic.” She narrowed her eyes, shaking her head. “You think you’re funny? "Prepare for what exactly Young Master Dominic?" Richard asked. "I get to choose what family gets to join the Empire Of Commerce, right?" Dominic asked for clarification. "And you also get to choose who leaves Young Master." Richard replied. "Interesting...... Do we have a list of the ones aiming to join?" He asked again. "Yes, we do." With that, Richard brought out unlocked his tab, which he seemed to always carry around. He tapped on the screen a few times before handing the tab over to Dominic. Dominic skimmed through the names. There were really a lot of families looking to join, and why wouldn't they?.After leaving the office, Dominic made his way to Sophia's home. He didn't go in his flashy car but hailed a taxi instead. Dominic's heart raced as he saw his mother's fingers move. This was the first movement she's made in 2 weeks. She was finally waking up.
