Benjamin had been right about everything from the beginning. He had warned her about David, had predicted exactly this kind of disaster, and had tried to protect her from making the mistakes that had led to this moment.

If anyone could help her navigate this impossible situation and find a way out that didn't end in complete destruction for everyone involved, it would be Benjamin with his calm wisdom and strategic thinking.

With hands that were still shaking violently from stress and fear, she immediately reached into her designer handbag and brought out her expensive phone. Her fingers fumbled with the device as the tremors made it difficult to operate the touch screen properly.

She scrolled through her contacts until she found Benjamin's phone number, then pressed the call button with a finger that was shaking so badly she nearly missed the screen entirely.
