Dustin Quinn stepped off the train and breathed in Winchester City’s quiet air. For a moment he stood still—the man people called the City’s God of War. The iron defender. The Almighty General.
In two days, he would die. He had carried that truth alone since the night his family was slaughtered. As a boy, he was cut by a poisoned blade. His father’s loyal servant, Mr. Fred, saved him, but the poison stayed hidden in his body, spreading slowly through the years. There was no cure for it. He had lived with the countdown since his childhood, watching the poison inch closer to his heart. No healer could see it, not even the strongest mage. Only he could see the dark stains spreading inside him, growing larger, making it impossible for any healer to even know what they were supposed to cure. He had chosen to use whatever time he had to make sure his life meant something since there was nothing to loss. He joined the war, led the nation’s troops, crushed enemy forces, became the wealthiest man in the nation and earned the God of War title that every citizen respected and praised. But he never cared about the glory. He hid his identity, because none of it mattered. Now he was in Winchester City for the final task on his list: ending an engagement that should never have existed. Mr. Fred had arranged it before Dustin even became an adult, binding him to a young woman who knew nothing of his illness. He refused to drag an innocent person into his doomed future. He was dying already. He yawned and stretched. “So tired. I should rest… before I take my eternal rest two days from now.” He walked to a small, dimly lit bar nearby and rented a modest room upstairs. Once inside, he sent a message to Mr. Fred. [I’m in Winchester already. Please make sure the funeral arrangements are simple.] A few minutes later, Mr. Fred replied. [Okay, young master. You deserve far more than this quiet funeral. Let the whole nation know—they are all alive because of you.] [No. I don’t want that. Let me go in peace.] Behind the screen, Mr. Fred wept. He had cried so much that his voice was gone; he didn’t even know how to reply anymore. Dustin took a small black pill and washed it down with water. Without it, the poison’s flare-ups would kill him even before the appointed time. He lay back on the narrow bed, exhaustion pulling him toward sleep. Just as his eyes began to close, the door creaked open. “...Who’s there?” He shot upright. He had forgotten to lock the door. A woman stood there. stumbling through the doorway, kicking the door shut behind her with a drunken giggle. She flung her bag to the floor, her cheeks were flushed. She threw off her heels also. Dustin was confused but even with the lady's messy state, Dustin couldn’t miss how beautiful she was. “Who are you?” Dustin rasped, trying to find his voice. “What are you doing in my room?” She gave a lazy, sultry smile. “Uhn… I’m here already,” she slurred, already offing her dress. It hit the floor in a heap, leaving her in black lace panties and a bra that barely covered her. She was already drunk and wasn’t aware of what she was doing, all her act were totally seductive and wrong . Dustin’s mouth went dry. He tried to stand, to stop whatever this was. “Hey, Madam…”. But she pushed him flat back on the bed with surprising strength, then climbed him, and pinned his shoulders. “Don’t you dare leave,” she breathed. “I’m so ….right now… quench me.” It felt like she was about to kill him. “Oh no”, Dustin’s mind screamed. but his body betrayed him, for some reason he felt so different. He was so unable to control himself to stand up or push her away “What the fuck… you need stop!” Dustin shrieked as he hit the barrier. “Oh no…” Dustin gasped, but it was already gone. Pleasure crashed over him like a tide. He couldn't deny it, he was enjoying it so bad. The poison had left him weak, but it hadn’t touched this part of him. Dustin kept going and hard. Just as he was about to reach the climax, something caught his eyes. A light was radiating from her. That was when he saw the small crystal pendant swinging between her chest. The pendant was shining so bright. “Huh—” He was amazed. But the word died as he accidentally spilled in. At that moment, the pendant shone more brightly, and a small glowing ball formed in front of it. Before he could even blink, the ball shot out and slammed straight into his chest. The hit wiped everything out. Thud!. His body dropped on top of her as he went unconscious instantly.Latest Chapter
Chapter 20
The room was a chaos of shouting and finger-pointing. Serena groaned, pressing her palms against her temples. The bright hospital lights made her vision swim."Enough!" Serena’s voice was weak, but it cut through the noise. "I have a massive headache. Can you all just keep it quiet for one minute?"The room fell silent. Mrs. Morgan rushed to the bedside, smoothing Serena’s hair. "Of course, darling. We’re just trying to make sure this... this peasant doesn't take credit for Ferdinand’s hard work."Serena looked at Dustin, then at Ferdinand. Her memory was hazy, like looking through a foggy window. "Dustin... I remember him coming into the room. I remember his voice. If Ferdinand called his father for backup too, then I’m grateful to both of you."She stopped there. She didn't mention the cold shiver that ran down her spine when she looked at Ferdinand. She hadn't forgotten the night at the party months ago when Ferdinand had trapped her in the hallway, his breath smelling of whiskey,

The air in the living room was thick enough to choke on. Every eye was pinned to the phone resting on the table. It vibrated, buzzing predator in the silence.Ring. Ring. Ring.No one moved. It was so silenced that no one wanted to interrupt. Ferdinand reached out, his fingers trembling slightly as he swiped to redial. He pressed the phone to his ear, his jaw tight."Still nothing?" Mrs. Morgan whispered, leaning in as if her proximity could force the signal through.Ferdinand pulled the phone away, staring at the darkened screen with a look of frustration. "The line... it just went dead. My father's phone must have run out of battery. He’s been in back-to-back meetings with the ministry all day.""How convenient," Dustin said, his voice dripping with irony. "What a miraculous coincidence. The man who supposedly sent a private army to save Serena suddenly has a dead battery the second we need proof. It’s almost poetic."Ferdinand’s head snapped toward him, eyes flashing. "What would

The air outside the assemblyman’s villa was heavy with the smell of blood and war. When Mrs. Earnshaw, Mrs. Morgan, and Ferdinand pulled up in a panic, there eyes never believed what they were seeing.Dustin was standing by the shattered entrance, his hands tucked into his pockets, looking as calm as a man waiting for a bus, he wasn’t too bothered by there appearance."You!" Mrs. Earnshaw screamed, stumbling out of the car. She rushed at him, her face twisted in a mask of terror and rage. "What are you doing here, you useless boy? Where is my daughter? Where is Serena?"Mrs. Morgan followed close behind, but she stopped dead when she looked at the pavement. "Blood..." she whispered, pointing at the dark, wet stains splattered across the marble steps. "Oh God, there’s blood everywhere! Dustin, what did you do? Where is she?" She panicked.Dustin didn't move. His voice was flat, devoid of the panic they were feeling. "Serena is safe. The Red Eagle squad arrived just in time. They h

Serena fought with every bit of strength she had left. She kicked and scratched, but the two guards held her down like stone statues. Mr. Roland walked over, his face twisted into a sick smile. He pulled a small glass vial from his pocket."Open up," he hissed with a lot of tension on his face.He grabbed her chin and forced her mouth open. He poured the liquid down her throat. Serena coughed and tried to spit it out, but he held her jaw shut until she swallowed.Within seconds, the fire in her muscles died out, replaced by a heavy, floating feeling of alcohol. Her arms felt so weak and tired, it was like a poison to her. The guards let her go, and she slumped to the floor. She tried to lift a hand, but she couldn't even wiggle her fingers."Stay outside," Mr. Roland told his men. "Do not let anyone in. Not even if the building is on fire."The guards walked out and locked the heavy door. Mr. Roland looked down at Serena and smirked. "You are finally mine," he whispered. He p

The next morning, the sun hit the bedroom floor, but Serena was already gone. Dustin rubbed his eyes and walked into the living room. Mrs. Earnshaw and her friend, Mrs. Morgan, were sitting on the sofa. They were drinking tea and looking at him with disgust."Good morning," Dustin said politely.Mrs. Earnshaw didn't greet him back. Instead, she put her tea down with a loud force like she’s willing to brake the mug in response to her rage and anger. "Look at you. You look like a beggar who stayed the night. How much longer do you plan to ruin my daughter’s life?"Mrs. Morgan laughed. "He is probably waiting for a handout. Look at those clothes. Even my gardener dresses better."Mrs. Earnshaw pulled a checkbook from her bag. She wrote a number and tossed the paper on the table. "Here. Ten million dollars. Take it and leave Serena forever. Go back to your village and buy a farm or whatever you feel like, that should be enough for a like standard like you."Dustin looked at the chec
