For seven years, Evren Calloway quietly built the empire behind the woman he loved. He sacrificed his ambitions, protected Celeste Arden’s family business, and stood beside her through every difficult moment, believing their upcoming wedding would finally give him the life they had dreamed of. Instead, three days before their wedding, Evren walks into a celebration and watches Celeste publicly announce her engagement to another man—Damian Cross. Everyone applauds. His friends knew. Her family knew. Even the people Evren had personally helped knew. He was the only one left in the dark. But the humiliation is only the beginning. Within hours, Evren discovers that his name has been removed from the projects he created, his achievements have been transferred to Damian, and forged documents are being used to accuse him of fraud and theft. The people he trusted aren’t simply replacing him—they are trying to erase him. They make one fatal mistake. They don’t know what Evren secretly owns. Years ago, he created the legal foundation protecting the company’s most valuable assets. Now that they have betrayed him, he is finally willing to take back everything he sacrificed to protect. As Evren begins dismantling the empire they stole from him, he uncovers a darker truth: Damian never entered Celeste’s life by accident. Their relationship was part of a carefully planned scheme to destroy Evren’s career, reputation, and future. When the truth finally explodes, Celeste realizes too late that the man she abandoned was the very man who built everything she has. But Evren must decide whether her regret deserves another chance—or whether losing her was the price of finally choosing himself.——0

THE WOMAN WHO MARRIED SOMEONE ELSE

POV: EVREN

The first thing I saw was the ring on Celeste Arden’s finger.

Then I saw the man standing next to her.

For a few seconds, I honestly couldn’t make sense of what I was looking at.

There I was—stuck at the entrance of the Arden family’s grand ballroom, clutching a little black folder with the final wedding documents. Champagne glasses sparkled under those oversized chandeliers. White roses lined the walls. A sea of guests floated around in suits and gowns, all looking like something straight out of a magazine.

It looked exactly like the celebration Celeste promised me.

Except for one thing.

She wasn’t next to me.

She was next to Damian Cross.

I gripped the folder until my knuckles hurt.

“Evren?”

Marcus—my friend, the guy who’d seen me through everything—showed up at my side with a glass of champagne. He looked completely out of place, like he wished he could disappear. That should’ve been my first hint something was seriously wrong.

“What is this?” I said.

He didn’t answer.

Onstage, Celeste was all smiles. Not the shy smile she got when we talked about the wedding. Not the gentle one reserved for those late-night moments when it was just us. This smile was different—bold, glowing, unshakable. The kind of smile you see on someone who’s already made up her mind.

She lifted her hand, and the diamond caught the light. My insides dropped.

“Thank you all for coming tonight,” Celeste said.

The place went quiet.

“I know many of you expected tonight to be about my upcoming wedding.”

A few people chuckled. My heart pounded harder.

She glanced at Damian, who reached for her hand.

“I suppose, in a way, it still is.”

Damian grinned.

Then came the words that leveled everything.

“Damian and I are getting married.”

For a second, no one moved.

Then the place exploded—people clapped, cheered, called out congratulations. Champagne glasses went up all around the room. Celeste’s mother jumped up clapping. Her father, too.

Marcus was clapping. Even Marcus. Slow, awkward, but he was doing it.

I stared at him until he stopped. Our eyes locked. He looked away.

And something cold split open inside me.

I turned and saw Celeste laughing as Damian draped his arm around her. Seven years. Seven years loving her. Standing by her. Seven years spent rebuilding Arden Global, fighting for every contract, working like a dog to keep her family’s legacy alive when it was falling apart.

I worked through the night while Celeste slept. Flew across cities to salvage deals everyone thought were dead. Sat in endless meetings with investors who didn’t care about the Arden name.

And when, finally, the company made money, I never asked for credit. When her father called me “the reason this family has a future,” I waved it off. I did it because I loved her. Because I thought we were building something together.

We were supposed to get married in three days. Three. I actually had the wedding itinerary in my pocket, still warm from this morning’s final rounds of calls. Celeste messaged me before I left: Don’t be late tonight. I have something special planned for you.

I smiled at that message. I really believed her.

“Evren.” Her voice snapped me back.

She was looking straight at me. Maybe there was a crack of hesitation in her eyes—until Damian leaned in and whispered something. She smiled again, steady as ever.

The hesitation vanished. “Are you going to congratulate us?” she asked.

The room turned, all eyes on me. Some people squirmed. Others looked hungry for drama.

I looked at her. “How long?”

The smile slipped a little. “What?”

“How long have you been with him?”

Nobody laughed. Damian’s jaw tensed. Celeste dropped her eyes for a second, then looked at me again.

“It doesn’t matter.”

“It matters to me.”

She gulped. Then she said words that hurt worse than the announcement.

“Things between us haven’t been right for a long time, Evren.”

I almost laughed—not because it was funny, because I honestly couldn’t believe she just said that.

“Three days before our wedding?”

She said nothing.

Suddenly, everything clicked—the weird looks, the canceled dinner, the secretive phone, the “business trips,” the stiff silences when I walked into a room. They weren’t shocked tonight. They’d all been waiting for this. Everyone knew. Everyone but me.

Damian finally moved, leaving Celeste’s side and walking up to me. His shoes tapped loud on the marble floor. When he stopped, all I saw in his face was satisfaction.

“You really thought she’d marry you?”

My jaw clenched. “Damian.”

“Seven years,” he said quietly, almost sympathetic. “You wasted seven years.”

I looked at Celeste, searching for anything—sympathy, regret. There was nothing. She didn’t defend me.

That’s when something inside me broke. Not with a crash. It just…stopped. Went numb.

I took the engagement ring out of my pocket. The one I picked after days of searching—Celeste told me she wanted something simple. I found it. I put everything into that ring. Now it felt like a stone in my hand.

I walked over and set the ring down beside her.

Her eyes flickered. “You should keep it,” I said.

She looked at me. “Why?”

“Because I don’t want anything that belongs to a life you already gave away.”

For the first time that night, she looked rattled. “Evren, wait.”

But I’d had enough. I walked away—one step after another—heading for the exit. The place went silent behind me.

I almost made it to the door when Celeste’s father called out.

“Evren.”

I stopped. His voice was ice.

I turned. He was up there with Celeste and Damian, not a shred of regret or shame on his face. Just business.

“There’s one more thing,” he said.

I didn’t say a word.

He picked up a paper from the table. “Effective tonight, Evren Calloway is no longer associated with Arden Global.”

My heart just froze. The room buzzed with whispers.

“What did you say?”

He held the document higher. “You heard me. You’re out. Your access is revoked. All your projects, your authority—transferred.”

To who?

He looked at Damian. Damian smiled.

“To me,” Damian said.

I looked at him. Then at Celeste. Then at all those people.

A few minutes ago, I thought losing Celeste would be the worst thing tonight. Now I saw it for what it was—they were taking everything. Celeste, my work, my stake in the company, my reputation. Everything I’d thought I built.

Standing in that ballroom, under the family’s chandeliers, I understood the truth—it wasn’t an accident. This was planned. Probably for a long time.

The only thing I did wrong was not seeing it until the very end.
