His eyes burned with pain as his gaze locked on to the screen, scanning through every available school for auction.

The educational sector was very profitable, but also very risky. If not handled right, he could run a loss and fail woefully.

“Why would my system want me to invest in the educational sector?”

The question baffled him as he couldn't fathom what the system was really playing at. Everything was just so weird and it was drivithin crazy slowly.

His heart thundered inside his chest as sleep eluded him. The ticking sound of the clock in the system sent chills down his spine and made him push further.

At this point, he just didn't understand what was going on again in his life and his system. Like, all it's actions recently were aimed at destroying him and he couldn't help it, neither could be question it.

The mental stress and emotional torture was getting out of hand. You can just imagine that he's the one to take all the blame for everything that happened at the ball.

After bragging and bidding higher, showing authority and everything, the system just fucked him up. Moving on to that party were he loooked like a peasant and was mocked by everyone. Back at home with Edmond and the lie stuff… moving on to the watch, the one that finally got Freya pissed.

The remembrance of everything just crashed all at once on his heavy mind and shattered the pillars that held them together as he perused the screen.

His hands held his sweaty face in shame and anger as he sat, the searing feeling of guilt overwhelming and choking him. The system didn't care about all of that. In all things, the clock was ticking and he could hear it loud and clear.

“Hmm, maybe I'll check this one…”

All the agents he found online were not looking trustworthy and the business deals looked shady and too good to be true. This was the more reason why he needed an expert in this field but there would be no time to start searching for someone, considering the little amount of time he was given to complete the task.

His fingers supported his chin softly as he examined the whole thing carefully, the ticking sound of the clock in his room synchronized with that of his system and jammed his head like an electric circuit.

He knew he had to pick one, he had to act, and fast.

“But these deal, hmmm…”

He just didn't know what his system really wanted him to do at this point. He felt like slamming the laptop in the corner and just run away from life, run away from troubles.

Assuming Freya was here, she would hae known what to do and how to help him. The thought of it sent chills down his spine but he wouldn't let that stop him. Thinking about Freya now only added to his pain and it was clear she wasn't coming back.

He steeled himself and made a firm decision.

“I'll meet you tomorrow by 10 am…” the speedy clicking of his keyboard as he pushed the keys filled the air and delivery sound of the message tugged a weak smile across the corners of his lips.

His hand reached for the screen and shut it softly, tossing to the corner and his body thud against the warm bed.

His weak eyes finally closed in pain and in a matter of time, all that could be heard was the heavy snoring sound that escaped his lips.

The man was clearly tired and really needed a good night rest, something he hadn't gotten in quite a while.

The night faded on and in a short while, the sun found it's way into the room and sneaked into his eyes.

It felt like it tapped him and he responded to it, yawning loudly like a man capable of swallowing a full human.

Immediately, he grabbed his phone and saw a ton of missed calls from the school agent.

“Oh shit!! Past tense!!!”

His heavy feet dashed out of the bed and dived into the bathroom. In a few minutes, he was ready and headed out.

His engine was ready for him and sped off happily into the distance.

They met a restaurant close by.

However, the meeting was unsuccessful with both parties flared up and regretting why they even met in the first place. The greedy fellow was requesting for money from him, when on the auction advertisement, it was stated that payment was to be made after the school was up and and running again.

He always knew that couldn't be true and was mad at him for not being straightforward.

He drove out in fury, his tires screeching recklessly as he made a drift and left.

“What nonsense?! How dare him try to scam me? It's clear he owns no school…”

It baffled him how brokers had becotso shady that they could stoop so low and get involved in senseless and petty frauds.

His. S hummed softly into the company complex and made way for the parking lot. He made his way to his office, he eyes burning with rage, his nostrils breathing out fumes.

“Sir, you have a visitor…” his secretary rushed after him as he walked briskly, his briefcase swinging by his sides.

“Who?”

“I don't know him. He said his name is Edmond, he's waiting for you in your office…”

The heat that escaped his pores couldn't let the poor secretary push further and she ran off back to her desk.

His door banged open as his eyes shone with disgust on Edmond.

“What's the matter?! What are you doing here?!”

He spat out the words on the poor soul as if he was the cause of his anger that day.

“Come on man, chill. I just came to drop off a copy of the contract…”

He rose to his feet and smiled at Lucas who was fuming with rage.

His hands reached for the door handle but he jerked his head sharply, just as if he had forgotten something.

“Aha, it almost skipped my mind. I heard you're planning to buy a school…”

“That's none of your business!” He slammed immediately.

“I know. Relax. Just so you know, buying a school is a social suicide because the regulations are crazy as fuck, man… just a piece of advice…” his voice was warm and calm as he straightened Lucas’s suit and tapped his back softly.

Thereafter, the door creaked open and shut. His footsteps slowly faded into the distance and Lucas crashed into his chair with a deep sigh.

“What a waste of time!”

His mind was pained but he couldn't help it. He just continued the search because his system was not planning on listening to any flimsy excuses on why the task was failed.

However, after searching for hours, he found something that caught his attention.

It was a school, but they were struggling. Considering the situation of things at the school, a little push with his finance would really go a long way in saving them.

“Hmmm…” his fingers rubbed his scattered beards as his mind pondered on the whole thing.

To make matters worse, the previous owner was destroyed by a scandal.

After a few minutes of thinking and weighing the odds, he finally made a decision.

“It's worth a try…”
