His mind pondered on the whole thing as he sat alone in the office, late at night while everyone had gone home.
He was researching what brought the school down. His gaze was fixed on the screen as beads of sweat ran down his pale skin. His mind pondered on what could have happened that was hidden so badly that he couldn't find online. However, not finding it online was not an issue. There were other ways for any tech expert to get information. A smile tugged across the corners of his lips as he tossed that laptop aside and licked up another. He knew just what he had to do. In a few minutes, he was on t the nuke and crannies of the dark web, seeking for that high profile crime the school may have committed that was so hidden. His eyes shone with shock as he gazed at his screen, his mouth agape in disbelief. “No wonder. What?!” His mind was enveloped with shock as he couldn't understand how such could happen? “Raymond, the son of the last mayor was in a relationship with a teacher that got her pregnant! Under his nose!!!” He nodded his head angrily. “Nah! That's very wrong. So why did they hide it?” He glanced back at the information and dug deeper into the Internet and saw more shocking news. “Oh poor dear!” He almost threw the laptop away. “Shortly after her pregnancy announcement, she started receiving threats from unknown sources to abort the baby and in a few days after being stubborn, she was found in pieces in her office…” tears rolled down his cheeks as he read through the painful information online. However, that was not going to stop him, his system was not planning on hearing, ‘I failed.’ “At least now I know what had happened,” he grinned as his laptop screen kissed the keyboard and found it's way into his bag. His feet echoed softly as he headed downstairs, his mind pondering on how to avoid trouble with the media for purchasing that school. His hand reached for his door but it remained stiff. He forced harder but it remained the same. His mind was enveloped with fear as his heart thumped against his chest. It occurred to him he hadn't opened the car and he slid is hand into his pocket, his rustling against the fabric and found nothing. “My keys!!” Immediately, he threw his bag right there and dashed into the office again, his eyes shone brightly in the night like flashlights. He reached for his phone but he couldn't find it. The company complex was covered in darkness and he couldn't find the exact spot on the wall for the switch. “Oh shit!” He headed back downstairs, his feet echoing loudly across the area. His eyes flashed at the car end and saw shadows, their voices singing in his ears. Thyebhad already searched his bag and his car keys jangled in their finger. Immediately, he crouched by the corner and his his head, his hand fastened to a small pipe that was laying by the door. “Shit…” The whisper alerted them and they knew he was out. “Lucas!!!” Their thunderous voices echoed in his head as he hid in the dark. The beam of their flashlights immediately found him and he knew he was cooked. Without any atom of hesitation, his legs dashed into the corners but was stopped by the heavy iron that jammed his leg from behind. He cried painfully on the floor as he grabbed his injured leg. Their boot dashed against his chest as they immediately caught up with him, pounding his skin and shattering his pained soul. “Please, just let me go. You can take anything you want!” His voice was barely heard as they were jamming their iron boots against his chest. He was barely breathing and his heart thundered against his chest. “Enough!” A female voice echoed from behind, warming, just like Freya's voice and he recognized it immediately. “Freya, is that you?” But he was complimented with the boot that came crashing into his face. “Shit the fuck up!” The figure advanced slowly, her poised footsteps echoed softly against the ground as her heels clicked. She was covered in a black hoodie even though, at least, he saw that. She grabbed the phone from them and opened it. She knew the password. ‘Its definitely Freya.’ Her eyes scanned through the call logs, her fingers tapping softly against the screen. “Who is Ella?” Her voice crackled with anger and he felt every bit of her pain. “I'm sorry, I can explain. Just let me explain…” “You lying bastard!!!” She cursed in sobs. “Kill him!” “Freya! No!!! Please wait! I'm sorry… Freya!!!!” A gunshot exploded into the air and the was followed by some whimpers and grins. “No!!!” Ella's cold hands tapped his pale skin as he screamed on the chair, grabbing his tie like his life depended on it. “Freya!!!” She jerked sharply as he bounced back to his feet, her straitened suit flapped softly as she stared into his eyes that shone like a lion ready to devour it's prey. “Don't tell me you slept here…” she scolded. He covered his face in shame and crashed back to his seat. “I'm sorry. I was…” “Just shut up. Ever since she left you, you've not been yourself. You need help, Lucas. Seek for therapy.” A deep sigh escaped his lips as he rubbed his tired eyes and yawned loudly. “So did you get the documents ready?” She nodded and reached for her briefcase. “Yeah, yeah, but there are a few things you need to know about that school…” He smiled warmly as he already knew what she had to say. His new personal lawyer was amazing, she cared about him but the man right here was in trouble and needed that school. The papers rustled against the table as she presented them before him. Her spectacles fitted her small round face perfectly as she read through the terms of the agreement. However, when she was done, before he proceeded to sign, she held him. “That school was ruined by some high profile cases that involved the then Mayor. If you go ahead and buy the school, your reputation will be ruined and it will be believed that you have gotten some money from him to repair his reputation again…” His system sent a message. “If you fail this task, you will lose 40% of your assets…” He waved her off and proceeded to sign the document but she held him back. “Are you sure you listened to me?” “Yes, I did.” He scribble down the signatures and threw the pen at her. “It's done.” She was enveloped in confusion as she couldn't understand the mind of controversial client she had that would risk his reputation when there were many other properties he could buy apart from a school… “Tell me, why do you really want to buy a school?” She failed to understand that the person sitting before her was no longer Lucas. Lucas was far away into the dream world but his red eyes remained open. She stood up and started explaining bit by bit what would happen if he doesn't change his decision, how the media and the public will see him in a bad liy, coupled with how his reputation before was… He yawned loudly and rose to his feet, tears rolled down his cheek. Her face burned with anger as she realized he was actually sleeping all these while. “You were saying?” She sighed heavily and grabbed her briefcase and left angrily, her footsteps singing the song of her rage as they clicked against the floor. He was tired and really needed a nap. He grabbed his briefcase and this time, he made sure he checked for his car keys and phone and was certain that everything was complete before he exited the office. The workers on the other were shocked to see him in that state as he walked out tiredly, yawning heavily at intervals. He headed home and slept peacefully, planning for the big opening. Days passed and finally, the long awaited day came. He was beaming with smiles as he knotted his shoe lace, his mind crafting the words of his speech when his phone tinged with a message. “Lucas Ross or whatever you call yourself… if you open that school, I'll make sure you don't get a single student and end up like the last owner…”

Her hand pressed her hair hard, as she tried to process the whole thing.“I'm not doing business with him again, I mean I did, and I stopped after I met you, after I heard what he did to you, you have to understand. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you.”She looked straight into his eyes and saw the load of lies that hovered in those black balls. She felt like she should just pull it out, like s
