She shook her head, took a slow breath. “No. It’s done. I won’t waste more time on him.”

“But—”

“That’s enough,” she said, cutting him off. “We need to focus on what really matters—I don’t want any trouble that could make Jasmine back out. He is too close to Kingston right now.”

Reluctantly, Marco nodded.

Meanwhile, Alex arrived at Vancouver’s premier hospital.

Jasmine led him down a corridor into a VVIP suite, where an elderly woman—Elizabeth Kingston, Jasmine’s grandmother—lay pale and frail in a bed.

Her skin looked paper-thin, her lips were cracked, and her breathing was shallow. Several doctors stood nearby, looking grim.

“Jasmine, where have you been?” a man’s voice demanded.

Charles, Jasmine’s older brother, glared as soon as she walked in. “Grandma could be breathing her last, and you’re off who-knows-where?”

“Are you saying Grandma can’t be saved anymore, just because you believe there’s no hope?” Jasmine snapped back.

Heinrich’s face was red as a boil. “You hit me, bitch—” He spat the word like a curse.“What in God’s name do you think you’re doing, bitch!” Dietrich hollered.“How dare you strike Mister Heinrich inside Eden Group! Security robot — fetch her, give her twenty lashes, then throw her out.”Dietrich hustled Heinrich upright, supporting him with a hand at the small of his back.“Don’t worry, Mister Heinrich. I’ve called security. Twenty lashes. She won’t be standing after that — her flesh will tell the tale.”“Do it,” Heinrich said, every syllable a command. “Give her what she deserves.”Alex stepped forward until he stood toe-to-toe with Dietrich. “You’d better cancel that order,” he said. “Someone’s going to get hurt if you don’t.”Dietrich sneered. “The one who’ll get hurt is you.”He jabbed his communication bracelet. “Security — attend. Punish this woman.”Alex tilted his head. “I warned you.”The crowd began to close in.“How dare she hit Heinrich,” someone muttered.“Don’t you kno

Alex was still buttoning up his Eden Group gardener uniform when a security drone glided into the room, humming softly as its sensors locked onto him.“Sir, the woman you asked us to monitor was just shoved by a guest—he forced her out into the entrance area. Do you want us to intervene?”“Show me the footage,” Alex said. The robot projected the recording. Heinrich’s hand clamped around Sofina’s arm, dragging her down the hallway while papers scattered across the floor.Alex straightened his collar, pulled on his gloves, and strode out toward the entrance. He found Sofina crouched on the floor, gathering a pile of scattered papers. He knelt beside her.“Sofina,” he said quietly, helping her pick them up. “What happened?”She shook her head, frustrated. “It’s Heinrich. No matter what I say, he just slips back into his arrogant little kingdom.”“Did he hurt you?” Alex asked, gently lifting her chin, checking for bruises.“No, nothing serious,” she said.Alex handed her the last sheet. “

“You’re Alex the Dunce! You can say all that crap because you’re an idiot—half a brain short of being human!” Conrad shouted, his voice cracking with rage. “If you had even a sliver of sense, you’d know how foolish you sound.”Conrad truly believed that only a complete fool like Alex could think the Wolfsbane family had any chance of working with the Eden Group.Alex’s grin widened. “Baroness Wolfsbane,” he called. “Conrad here just called you an idiot with half a brain for daring to ask for collaboration. Thought you should know.”Conrad’s face went pale, then burned red. He spun toward the Baroness. “I—I didn’t mean that!”Baroness Wolfsbane’s hands trembled on the table. Her face darkened with fury and humiliation. Her own kin had mocked her—Beatrix and his husband, Conrad and then Annabella, her so-called pride, had done nothing but disappoint her.And now, of all people, it was Alex—the outcast, the family fool—who stood up for her.Her gaze shifted to Sofina. She’d never liked t

“I’ll get us a deal with the Eden Group,” Sofina announcement hit the room like a gunshot. For a heartbeat, silence. Then the whole hall burst into laughter. Some people laughed so hard they clutched their stomachs, wiping tears from their eyes.Everyone thought she’d lost her mind. Trying to steal Grandma Wolfsbane’s attention with that kind of nonsense?Foolish. Desperate. Didn’t she know how to read the room? The Wolfsbane family was on thin ice, and the Eden Group wasn’t just some local company—it was the largest Group in Winchester. For a family like theirs, even being noticed by Eden was a miracle. To talk about deals was like a fly demanding a seat at the king’s table.Beatrix smirked, her voice dripping with scorn. “Sofina Scheinwald, do you honestly think you can land a deal with the Eden Group? Keep dreaming. It’s impossible for someone like you.”Annabella leaned forward, sneering. “Who do you think you are, Sofina? You think Eden Group belongs to your husband? Your reckles

“All of you!” Baroness Wolfsbane’s voice cracked through the hall like a whip. Her face flamed red with fury. “So now I’m the idiot? The only one still trying to hold this family together? Have you all completely lost your damn minds?”“Grandma,” Beatrix said carefully. “We’re talking about the Eden Company. Even Kruger got thrown out. What chance do we possibly have?”The room fell silent. Everyone avoided her eyes.Beatrix went on, sharper now, “None. Let’s be smart for once and chase something that actually makes sense. Not this.”Baroness Wolfsbane’s eyes flashed like steel. “Do none of you have the guts—or the confidence—to take Kruger’s place at Eden?”No one moved. No one spoke. The air was thick with tension.Alex started to raise his hand with that trademark smirk of his, but Sofina caught his wrist and shook her head—subtle, firm.Don’t.The Baroness’s patience snapped. She slammed her cane against the marble floor, voice rising.“Listen to me, all of you! Whoever secures th

“Jerk!” Nikolaus shouted, his voice echoing across the parking lot. “Don’t mess with me, return my car!”Alex didn’t even flinch. He turned his back and started walking away, calm as a man who’d already won.“I’m not playing with you,” he said. “The system recorded our bet. It’s automatic—government protocol. You lost, Nikolaus. That means your car transfers to me. I didn’t have to lift a finger.”“You’re half a slave,” Annabella snapped, stepping forward. “You’re not even allowed to own any property!”Alex smiled. “You’re right. That’s why the car’s under my wife’s name now. Sofina.”He glanced at the luxury flying car behind him, then back at them. “You two should probably call a taxi. Or walk. And hey—thanks for the car.”Nikolaus’s face flushed crimson. His day had already been hell—his family collaboration got canceled, his father tore into him, and now this. Losing his car to Alex was the final nail. Fury took over reason.“You bastard!” he roared, charging at Alex. But Alex had
