The creature leaped forward, its clawed fingers reaching out to tear into his throat.
"System Directive Activated!" a crisp, mechanical voice suddenly echoed inside Arman's head, drowning out the snarling of the beast. "Host life signs critical. Critical threat detected. Do you accept ownership of Safe Zone 04?"
"Yes! I accept! I accept!" Arman screamed at the top of his lungs, throwing his hands up to cover his face. "Whatever it is, just save me!"
"Ding!" the voice chimed, instantly freezing the world around him. "Host acceptance confirmed. Initializing the Savior System. Generating physical barrier..."
Bzzzzzt.
An invisible wall of crackling blue energy snapped into existence mere centimeters from Arman’s nose. The mutated woman slammed face-first into the barrier with a sickening thud, her face flattening against the unseen force before she recoiled, shrieking in pure, unbridled fury.
"Oh my god, oh my god," Arman gasped, scrambling backward until his spine hit the bottom of the checkout counter. "What is this? Are you seeing this? Am I going crazy?"
"This is entirely real, Host Arman," the system's voice replied, sounding like a calm, polite AI assistant. "The temporary kinetic barrier will hold for exactly thirty-five seconds. Please calibrate your Safe Zone settings immediately to initiate permanent defenses."
"How do I do that?" Arman shouted, his heart hammering against his ribs. "I don't know how to run a safe zone! I'm just a convenience store clerk!"
"Do not panic," the system instructed. "The System has detected a logical perimeter. Do you wish to register 'Prima Mart Express' as your personal Safe Zone?"
"Yes! Register it! Just hurry!" Arman cried, clutching his head. "She's going to break through!"
"Processing," the system said. "Registering Safe Zone 04. Location: Prima Mart Express, Branch Three hundred and twelve. Host: Arman Pradana. Status: Confirmed."
"Is it done?" Arman asked, looking up fearfully at the creature, which was now clawing frantically at the shimmering blue barrier. "Is the shield permanent now?"
"To activate the permanent defensive barrier, you must spend your unique registration reward," the system explained. "You have received one 'Last Savior' token. Would you like to redeem it to activate the Golden Sanctuary Shield?"
"Yes, redeem it! Redeem it now!" Arman yelled.
"Redeeming token," the voice replied. "Deploying Golden Sanctuary Shield. Please prepare for external neutralization."
"External neutralization?" Arman repeated, narrowing his eyes. "What does that mean?"
"It means the immediate eradication of all hostile entities within the perimeter," the system answered.
Suddenly, a blinding flash of golden light erupted from the floorboards, sweeping outward in a perfect, glowing dome. The moment the light touched the snarling creature, her black eyes widened in what looked like genuine terror.
"Oh, wow," Arman whispered, shielding his eyes from the glare. "It's... it's beautiful."
"Neutralization in progress," the system announced.
The golden dome expanded. When it passed through the creature, there was no blood, no scream, and no violent explosion. Instead, the monster simply dissolved into a cloud of glittering, golden dust that drifted harmlessly out into the cool night air.
"She's... she's gone," Arman said, slowly lowering his hands. He stared at the empty space where the terrifying beast had stood just seconds prior. "She literally turned into fairy dust. Did you just vaporize her?"
"The Golden Sanctuary Shield vaporizes any entity with a hostile corruption index exceeding eighty percent," the system clarified. "The threat has been permanently neutralized."
"Holy crap," Arman muttered, sitting down flat on the dirty floor. "I'm alive. I'm actually alive."
"Your survival probability has increased from two percent to ninety-nine percent within the designated Safe Zone," the system said.
"Why me, though?" Arman asked, rubbing his face with his trembling hands. "You said something about a 'Last Savior' token. Why did I get that?"
"The Savior System only activates for individuals who exhibit extreme empathy in the face of absolute despair," the system explained. "Before the crimson fog descended, you gave away your last source of sustenance to a hungry child, despite your own severe starvation."
Arman let out a dry, disbelieving laugh. "You've got to be kidding me. My chocolate milk? I got a magical alien system because I gave away a two-dollar carton of chocolate milk?"
"Your action preserved the purity of the old world's soul," the system replied. "The universe rewards balance, Host Arman. You chose selflessness. Thus, you are the Savior."
"Well, I'm a savior with a very loud, very angry stomach," Arman sighed, his stomach choosing that exact moment to let out a ferocious growl. "Is there an option in your system to conjure up a warm plate of fried rice?"
"Nutritional items are available in the Savior Store," the system said. "However, you currently have zero Survival Points."
"Of course I do," Arman grumbled. "Nothing in life is actually free, is it?"
Suddenly, the overhead fluorescent lights flickered violently. Bzzzt. Pop.
"Uh, that doesn't sound good," Arman muttered, looking up at the ceiling. "Hey, system? What's happening to the lights?"
"The municipal power grid is experiencing a catastrophic failure due to the electromagnetic interference of the crimson fog," the system warned. "Grid shutdown imminent in three... two... one..."
The lights went out completely.
"Damn it!" Arman yelled as absolute darkness swallowed the store. "I can't see a single thing! System, are you still there?"
"I am still here, Host Arman," the voice sounded right next to his ear. "The system operates independently of your local power grid. However, the physical store's backup generator is inactive."
"Can you turn the lights back on?" Arman asked, stretching his hands out in front of him, feeling nothing but cold air. "Is there some kind of emergency mode?"
"Emergency lighting requires ten Survival Points to unlock," the system stated.
"I already told you, I don't have any points!" Arman groaned, waving his hands around in frustration. "What am I supposed to do? Sit here in the dark and wait for another monster to break in?"
"The Golden Sanctuary Shield remains active on passive cosmic energy," the system assured him. "No hostile entities can cross the threshold. However, you are currently in total darkness. Would you like to open your 'New Savior Starter Kit'?"
"Wait, I have a starter kit?" Arman asked, his voice echoing in the empty store. "Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"You did not ask," the system replied simply. "Would you like to open it now?"
"Yes! Yes, open the damn kit!" Arman yelled.
"Opening New Savior Starter Kit," the system announced. "Items successfully acquired: One high-intensity tactical flashlight, one reinforced steel crowbar, and one basic stamina potion."
"Awesome," Arman said. "But where are they? I don't see them."
"They have been placed in your spatial inventory," the system explained. "To retrieve an item, simply focus your mind on it and say its name aloud."
"Okay, let's try this," Arman muttered. He closed his eyes, visualizing a flashlight. "Flashlight!"
Pop.
A heavy, cold metallic cylinder materialized directly into his right hand. Arman gasped, nearly dropping it.
"Whoa! That is crazy!" he laughed, finding the power button and clicking it.
A powerful beam of bright white light cut through the darkness, illuminating the dusty aisles and the scattered glass near the entrance.
"This is incredible," Arman said, shining the light around the ruined shop. "I feel like I'm in a video game."
"The survival of humanity is not a game," the system corrected him. "However, the interface is designed to be intuitive for your species."
"Right, sorry," Arman said, shining the light down at his shattered glass doors. "So, the physical doors are gone, but you're sure nothing can get in?"
"The golden shield is absolute," the system confirmed. "No hostile entity may pass. However, non-hostile entities may enter if you grant them permission."
Suddenly, a sharp, terrified shriek tore through the silence of the night, coming from the parking lot outside.
"Help! Oh god, please help me!" a woman's voice screamed, her footsteps splashing frantically through the puddles outside. "Is anyone in there? Please open the door!"
Arman froze, his flashlight beam shaking. "Is that... is that a survivor?"
"Warning," the system's voice chimed, its tone turning serious. "One non-hostile human entity is approaching the Safe Zone boundary. She is currently being pursued by three Stage 1 Mutated Humans."
"Three of them?" Arman gasped, his heart leaping into his throat. "Can't the shield just vaporize them like the last one?"
"The shield will only vaporize hostiles if they attempt to cross the boundary," the system explained. "If the human entity is caught outside the boundary, she will be killed. Host Arman, you must decide. Do you permit her entry?"
"Help! Please!" the woman sobbed, her face slamming against the invisible golden barrier just feet away from the shattered entrance. "They're right behind me! Please!"
Through the powerful beam of his flashlight, Arman could see her pale, terrified face, and behind her, three pairs of glowing black eyes rushing out of the red fog.
"Arman, think," he whispered to himself, his hand trembling on the flashlight. "If I let her in, do I risk my own life?"
"You have five seconds to make a decision," the system stated coldly. "Four... three..."

Arman yelled, his sneakers slipping on the wet asphalt as he scrambled to find his footing. "Missed me, you ugly piece of crap!"The massive creature let out a wet, furious hiss, its split jaws snapping shut on nothing but empty air. It spun around with terrifying agility, its claws scratching against the concrete with a horrific metallic screech."Alert," the system’s mechanical voice echoed clearly in his mind. "Host armor integrity is currently at ninety percent. Minor dermal abrasion detected on your left scapula.""I don’t care about a damn scratch!" "System, tell me exactly where that thing is. Is it right behind the back door?""The target is currently positioned three meters from the rear exit, directly adjacent to the Solar-Cosmic Generator," the system’s smooth, mechanical voice responded inside his head. "It has begun gnawing on the primary rubber-encased power cables.""Gnawing on the cables?" Arman groaned, rubbing his temples in frustration. "Why would a mutated monster want to chew on electrical wires? Does it eat electricity now?""The Stage 2 canine is drawn to the high-frequency electromagnetic vibrations emitted by the generator," the system explained calmly. "If the primary cables are completely severed, the generator will

Especially with this creepy red fog blocking out the sky?""The Solar-Cosmic Generator does not rely solely on direct sunlight, Host Arman," the system replied in its cool, mechanical tone. "It utilizes ambient cosmic radiation and background electromagnetic waves. Installation is now complete."A low, deep vibration rattled the floorboards beneath their feet."Whoa, what is that?" Mr. Bambang yelled, scrambling backward and knocking over a plastic display of cheap, colorful umbrellas. "Is the ground shaking?
