The operating theater was dead silent, save for the hum of ventilation.

Lying on the steel table, Lily Cross looked like a statue carved from gray stone. Her limbs were stiffening. Her body temperature had dropped below eighty degrees.

Standing near the glass observation window, Claire Hayes held her breath. Her hands gripped the strap of her handbag so tightly that her knuckles ached.

She had seen Ethan bring her grandfather back to life earlier that morning. But her grandfather had only stopped breathing for a few minutes.

Lily Cross had been dead for fourteen minutes. In the medical world, brain cells began dying after four minutes without oxygen. At fourteen minutes, irreversible brain death was absolute law.

Ethan Cole did not look at the flatline monitor.

He reached into his wooden toolbox. His fingers plucked three slender black needles from the velvet lining with uncanny precision.

"The three souls wander, the seven spirits scatter," Ethan murmured under his breath, his voice deep and rhythmic. "By the authority of the Ghost Needle Sovereign, return to your vessel!"

His right hand blurred.

Zip!

The first needle pierced the Baihui acupoint at the very crown of Lily's skull, sinking one inch deep.

Zip!

The second needle struck the Tanzhong point at the center of her chest, piercing straight toward the pericardium.

Zip!

The third needle drove into the Yongquan point on the sole of her left foot.

A perfect triangle of meridian flow formed across the girl's lifeless body.

Outside the glass, Doctor Matthew Henderson watched with a sneer. "Absurd! Sticking needles into a corpse! If acupuncture could restart a ruptured heart valve, our universities would have shut down a century ago!"

Ethan ignored the voice outside.

He raised both hands, pressing his palms flat against the needles on Lily's chest and crown.

He closed his eyes.

Within Ethan's dantian, the ancient Dragon Heart Qi ignited like a molten star. Pure, golden vital energy surged through his arms, pouring into the black needles.

Hum...

A low, resonant vibration filled the operating room.

Claire's eyes widened in sheer astonishment.

Right before her eyes, the three black needles began to vibrate at blinding speed. A faint, warm golden glow hovered around Lily's gray skin. The frost on the girl's eyelashes melted into clear water droplets, rolling down her cheeks.

Then, Ethan lifted his right hand.

He slammed the base of his palm directly against the needle on Lily's sternum!

THUMP!

A sound like an ancient war drum echoed through the room.

"GASP!"

Lily Cross's back arched violently off the surgical table.

Her jaw dropped open, and a mouthful of dark, stagnant blood erupted from her throat, splashing against the green surgical towels.

Beep...

A single, weak electronic sound echoed from the monitor.

Doctor Henderson's sneer froze on his face.

Beep... beep...

The flat green line on the electrocardiogram suddenly dipped, rose, and spiked into a sharp peak.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Heart rate: 45.

Heart rate: 65.

Heart rate: 80!

Blood pressure: 110 over 70!

The rhythmic, healthy beeping of the monitor filled the operating theater like sweet music.

On the table, Lily's gray skin flushed with radiant warmth. Her fingers twitched. Her chest rose and fell in deep, steady breaths.

Her clear, brown eyes opened slowly, looking around the room in mild confusion.

"Daddy..." a faint, soft voice whispered from the girl's lips. "Where is Daddy?"

Total silence crushed the entire eighth floor.

Outside the observation window, Doctor Henderson's clipboard dropped from his numb fingers.

His eyes bulged out of his head. His mouth hung open in disbelief.

"Alive..." Doctor Henderson stammered, his voice cracking. "She is breathing... her pupils are contracting... A fourteen-minute flatline, and she woke up without brain damage?! This defies all medical science!"

"Lily!"

A roar of raw emotion tore through the corridor.

Thomas Cross kicked open the double doors of the operating room, rushing to the side of the surgical table.

When he saw his daughter looking back at him with clear eyes, the terrifying king of Riverdale broke down completely. Tears poured down his cheeks as he buried his face in her small hands.

"My baby... my precious girl!" Thomas sobbed, kissing her warm fingers over and over. "You are alive... Daddy is here!"

"Daddy, my chest does not hurt anymore," Lily whispered, a sweet smile touching her lips. "It feels warm. Like the sun is inside my heart."

Ethan stepped back calmly. With a smooth flick of his wrist, he plucked the three black needles from her skin, wiped them with alcohol, and returned them to his wooden box.

"Her congenital heart defect is ninety percent healed," Ethan said in an even voice. "I will write down a medicinal soup recipe. Drink it twice a day for seven days, and her heart will be stronger than an athlete."

Thomas turned around.

Without the slightest hesitation, the billionaire dropped to his knees on the tiled floor, bowing his head three times until his forehead struck the marble.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

"Master Cole!" Thomas cried, his voice trembling with boundless gratitude. "You gave my daughter a second life! From this day forth, my life, my wealth, and my entire syndicate belong to you!"

Doctor Henderson hurried inside, his face pale with shame.

"Master Cole... please forgive my foolish arrogance!" Doctor Henderson begged, bowing frantically. "I was blind! Please, teach me! Allow me to be your student!"

Ethan did not even look at the doctor.

"You are not worthy to hold my box," Ethan said coldly.

Thomas Cross stood up, glaring at Doctor Henderson with murderous eyes. "Matthew Henderson, you declared my daughter dead and tried to block Master Cole! You are stripped of your position as chief surgeon! Leave Riverdale by midnight, or I will have you buried in the harbor!"

Doctor Henderson fell to his knees in despair, weeping as guards dragged him out.

Thomas wiped his face, turning to Ethan with deep respect.

"Master, please tell me how I can serve you. Name any reward. Money, land, companies, anything in Riverdale is yours!"

Ethan picked up his wooden toolbox, slinging the rope over his shoulder.

"I do not need money," Ethan said calmly. "However, my wife's company is facing trouble."

Claire, who had been watching in stunned silence, snapped out of her daze.

Her heart skipped a beat as Ethan referred to her as his wife.

Thomas immediately looked at Claire, bowing deeply. "Young Mistress Cole! Please command me! Who dares to cause trouble for your company?!"

Claire swallowed hard, trying to steady her racing pulse. "Vance Logistics. Richard Vance threatened to freeze all our imported pharmaceutical raw materials at the port tomorrow morning at eight o'clock. If our shipments are blocked, Hayes Bio-Pharma will face bankruptcy."

Thomas's face instantly twisted into terrifying rage.

A dangerous aura exploded from the billionaire.

"Richard Vance?!" Thomas snarled in pure fury. "That little rat dared to threaten the Young Mistress?! He dared to threaten the Sovereign's family?!"

Thomas pulled a gold-plated satellite phone from his pocket, dialing a direct number.

"Send my command to the Riverdale Port Authority and the Maritime Security Division!" Thomas barked into the phone, his voice cold as an executioner's blade. "At midnight tonight, seize every single cargo ship, warehouse, and truck belonging to Vance Logistics! Freeze all their bank accounts! Cut off their fuel lines! By eight o'clock tomorrow morning, I want Vance Logistics wiped off the face of Riverdale!"

Thomas hung up the phone and bowed to Ethan.

"Master, by sunrise, Vance Logistics will cease to exist. The Vance family will never trouble the Young Mistress again."

Claire stood frozen, her mind completely reeling.

With one phone call, the giant logistics empire that had pushed her to the brink of ruin was wiped out like dust.

She looked at Ethan Cole.

He stood there in his faded green shirt, his torn sneakers, and his dusty wooden box, looking completely untroubled.

'He is not a beggar,' Claire thought, her soul shaking with the realization. 'He really is a living god.'
