The man stepped out of the forest's darkness with a calm yet threatening stride. He was Elias, Johann’s former colleague from the logistics department who had been declared dead in an elevator accident three months ago. His face was deathly pale, with prominent purple veins bulging around his temples. He no longer looked like the man who used to share his lunch with Johann. Now, he wore a tattered corporate supervisor's uniform and was surrounded by a hissing aura of energy.

"Elias? How is this possible?" Johann shouted, his eyes widening. His heart pounded so hard it felt painful behind his ribs. He gripped Freya’s hand tighter until his knuckles turned white.

Elias only gave a thin smile. The smile felt wrong because there was no joy in it. He flicked his fingers, and the horde behind him—consisting of mutated former janitorial staff—began to move forward with horrifying, jerky movements. "This world never truly allows someone to leave easily, Johann. They took my soul and turned it into fuel for that system you call a balance."

Freya snorted loudly as she raised her knife to her chest. "I don't care if he’s a ghost or if he rose from the grave. This man is in our way, and he looks like he needs a good cleaning."

Johann took a deep breath. He turned toward Freya, and for a moment, his fear faded, replaced by a strange warmth. In the midst of this deadly threat, he felt deeply bonded to the woman beside him. He touched Freya’s face gently, even though his hands were still shaking from the adrenaline. "If we can get through this, I’m taking you to the best restaurant in the entire country. Anything you want."

Freya chuckled softly, though her eyes remained alert to every enemy movement. "I’m holding you to that promise, darling. But for now, maybe we can skip the appetizers and go straight to the mass destruction?"

"Agreed," Johann replied.

Elias laughed so loudly that the sound of his laughter shook the branches of the trees. "You two really are a pathetic couple. Stop being sweet, because tonight is the end of your journey."

Elias stomped his foot onto the ground, and a purple shockwave exploded toward them. Johann frantically pressed the menu in his vision. His Wealth Core system vibrated violently. A golden notification appeared before his eyes with an urgent warning.

[WARNING: WEALTH CORE UNSTABLE. ALIGNMENT RITUAL REQUIRED THROUGH PURE ENERGY SACRIFICE.]

Johann stared at the notification and then at Freya. He had to do something. He pulled Freya close and wrapped his arm tightly around her waist. "Freya, I need you to lend me your inner energy. This sounds crazy, but it’s the only way this system can perform the alignment ritual."

Freya looked deep into Johann’s eyes. She didn't ask why or how. She simply nodded and pressed her forehead against his. "Do whatever you need to do. I am yours."

In that intimate proximity, Johann felt an incredible warmth flowing from Freya, seeping into him. It wasn't just magic. It was pure trust and overflowing emotion. Johann closed his eyes and allowed the system to absorb the energy. The balance in his vision spun rapidly from zero toward an astronomical number.

[RITUAL COMMENCED. WEALTH CORE UNDERGOING PHYSICAL EVOLUTION.]

Johann’s body felt like it was burning from the inside. His muscles tightened, and he felt his strength increase tenfold. He opened his eyes and saw streams of golden energy dancing around his and Freya’s bodies. Elias looked shocked. He took a step back, but the horde of mutated staff continued to attack mercilessly.

"Finish them!" Elias screamed.

Johann didn't wait. He lunged forward with speed that surpassed human sight. He struck the first staff member with a fist coated in golden energy. The staff member instantly exploded into glittering dust. Johann felt every strike was precise and efficient. He was like a master janitor disposing of trash.

Behind him, Freya was not idle. She moved gracefully, cutting down every enemy that tried to approach them. In the lulls of the battle, they still managed to exchange glances. Johann felt that their romance in the middle of this battlefield was the most real thing he had ever experienced. There was a burning passion behind every clash of weapons and explosion of energy.

After the horde was defeated, leaving only Elias standing frozen, Johann walked toward his former colleague with an air of arrogance. He was no longer Johann, the weak janitor. He was an entity that could control reality through exchange rates.

"Elias, you’ve been a stain on this world for too long," Johann said.

Elias tried to launch one final attack, but Johann calmly brushed it aside as if he were dusting off a table. Johann grabbed Elias by the throat, and the golden energy from his hand began to seep into the man’s body. Elias screamed in pain as the purple stains on his body began to fade and crumble.

"Thank you, Johann," Elias whispered, his voice slowly becoming human again. His body gradually dissolved into peaceful particles of light. "Finally, I can rest."

After Elias disappeared, the forest fell silent again. Johann fell to his knees as exhaustion suddenly hit his body. He felt as if he had just finished a non-stop marathon. Freya immediately ran over and hugged him from behind. She kissed Johann’s neck affectionately.

"We did it," Freya whispered in a very soft voice.

Johann turned around and pulled Freya into a deep embrace. He looked at her with total love. However, as they were enjoying that moment of peace, a very loud metallic chime suddenly rang out inside Johann’s head. It wasn't from his golden system, but from something much deeper.

[THE WEALTH CORE SPEAKS: YOUR BALANCE IS A LOAN FROM A FORGOTTEN GOD. NOW IS THE TIME TO PAY THE OVERDUE INTEREST.]

Johann felt his heart stop for a moment. The world around him suddenly turned gray. The moonlight vanished, replaced by an unnatural, pitch-black darkness. He looked at his hands, which were now slowly becoming transparent.

"Freya?" Johann called out, his voice beginning to weaken.

Freya looked at him in a panic. "Johann, what’s wrong? What’s happening to your hands?"

Before Johann could answer, a giant shadowy figure that looked like the manifestation of the entire global corporate system appeared in the sky above them. The figure was massive, blotting out half the horizon.

His voice boomed like thunder tearing through the sky.

"Johann Keller. Your time as a cleaner has come to an end. Now it is your turn to be cleansed from this existence," the voice killed any remaining hope.

Johann tried to stand, but his legs felt as if they were bound by heavy chains. He looked up and saw that the figure was pointing a giant finger toward the two of them. Freya tried to pull Johann away to run, but Johann's body now felt as if it were fused to the ground.

"Run, Freya! Leave me!" Johann shouted as he tried to break her grip on his hand.

"I won't! We will die together, or we won't die at all!" Freya replied, refusing to let go. Instead, she hugged Johann tighter, as if trying to shield him from the threat in the sky.

The giant figure began to lower its finger at a slow but deadly speed. Every movement of its finger created pressure that caused the ground around them to crack and explode. Johann stared at the last notification in his vision, which now showed a very strange number.

[BALANCE: -$9,999,999,999,999. PRICE OF LIFE: USER SOUL.]

Johann looked at Freya with tear-filled eyes. He knew he had no other choice. He had to perform one final act that would change everything. He took a deep breath and then kissed Freya with the most intense kiss they had ever shared. It was a farewell kiss and an eternal promise.

In the middle of that kiss, Johann pressed the final button in his system, hidden behind the debt notification. A button labeled [DELETE SYSTEM].

Suddenly, the world exploded in a blinding white light. Freya felt her body being thrown in the opposite direction, and she could no longer feel Johann's hand in her grasp. She screamed Johann's name amidst the explosion of light that swallowed everything.

When the light began to fade, Freya woke up in the middle of a forest that had been leveled to the ground. She looked around, but Johann was no longer there. There was only a gold credit card stuck in the ground, with a massive crack splitting the earth's surface. Freya picked up the card with trembling hands. On the surface of the card was a short message burned into the metal.

[FIND ME IN THE PLACE WHERE ALL PRICES ARE PAID WITH LOVE, NOT MONEY.]

Freya stared at the sky, which was now clear but silent. She knew that Johann wasn't dead. She knew that the man had just begun a game far larger than mere balances or corporate power. But before she could step forward, a giant mechanical bird emerged from behind the clouds and dove sharply toward her.

It was Viktor Reinhardt's retrieval unit returning to claim the remaining energy left there. Freya stared at the mechanical bird and then at the card in her hand. She gave a cynical smile.

"You think you can catch me after he gave everything?" Freya whispered. She threw the gold card toward the mechanical bird. The card exploded on contact with the bird's steel hull, causing a chain reaction that destroyed the enemy's mechanical wings.

Freya jumped into the ruins of the forest and began to run away. She had to find Johann before Viktor found him. But when she reached the edge of the forest, she was shocked by the sight before her. The entire city was now covered by a giant gold dome that was impenetrable to light. There was no way out. There was no way in.

Standing at the peak of the dome was a man who looked exactly like Johann, but with eyes radiating a very cold purple light. The man looked down at Freya with a gaze that didn't recognize her at all.

"Who are you?" the man asked in a very foreign voice.

Freya froze. Her world felt as if it were collapsing once again. The man up there was Johann, but his soul had been replaced by something else. And beneath the man's feet, the real Johann was seen bound in a transparent energy prison, desperately trying to call Freya's name, but his mouth was muffled by a powerful seal of light.

"And what do you mean by the first test?"The woman in the sunglasses did not answer immediately. She signaled with her hand, and two of her subordinates moved forward with the precision of a machine.
