Celeste and I looked at each other. The room was in disarray, and both of us could barely even apologize to each other.

After a few minutes, my phone buzzed with a message.

“Will be with you in five minutes.”

A message from Blair popped just right on my phone. I looked at myself and saw that I needed a change of clothes. I was about to walk away when I looked back.

“Don’t you think you did me a favor, Celeste? I don’t know what you think you are doing, but you need to leave now!” I shouted, pointing at the door.

Celeste’s eyebrows arched. “You can’t be serious. Are you really asking me to leave your house?” She asked, folding her arms and staring at my face.

I stopped halfway without looking back. My eyebrows were slightly squeezed together. “YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I THINK!”

I walked closer to her, my gaze burning right into hers. “You think because you helped me get back to my family, who cannot stop thinking about murdering me, I should be grateful for it?”

The men moved like fast—calm, calculated, each step smart. The crowd seemed to part unconsciously, as though they were dancing to the music. The bass was still beating so loud that they didn't know the turmoil the danger that was lurking around the club house. Blair’s nails dug deeper into my hand, sharp crescents biting my skin. Her emerald eyes were locked on me, shimmering with both fear and defiance. “Eli…” she whispered again, but this time it wasn’t just fear in her tone—it was a plea.I didn’t answer her. My attention stayed on the men.I knew they were here for me. All I needed was to let her go. I grabbed Blair's hand and looked at her. " This is none of your business. They are not here for you but me. So, when I tell you to run, you run."Blair looked at me grabbing my hand firmly," I am not leaving you." For a moment, I felt touched. Maybe she truly cared about me. But was there something she was not telling me?I know now was not the time to decipher that. There will be

The atmosphere was tense as Blair drove us deeper into the city, neon lights cutting across the windshield, but my mind wasn’t on the view. It kept replaying that black sedan like a glitch I couldn’t erase.I leaned back into the leather seat, forcing a smirk to keep her from asking questions. The bass from a nearby club thumped faintly through the windows as we pulled closer to our destination.Blair reached out, her manicured hand resting lightly on my thigh. “You’re awfully quiet for someone who’s about to hit the wildest club in town. What’s going on in that head of yours, Eli?”“Nothing,” I lied smoothly, eyes still darting to the rearview.“Liar,” she teased, narrowing her eyes at me. “Your jawline is tense. It always locks up when you’re thinking too much. I’ve noticed.”That startled me. Blair noticed things. Too many things. Before I could reply, she parked right outside the club. Music pulsed from inside, the air buzzing with cigarette smoke, perfume, and drunken laughter.

I still don't know Blair's drift in all of this, but I knew she was into me. Unlike Layla and Cassie, who discarded me the moment they got what they wanted. Maybe Blair was dragging me along until she found what she needed too. But I need to act fast and smart. The kiss wasn’t supposed to last that long. At least, not for me. Blair tasted of something expensive, fruity, and slightly toxic—like champagne mixed with venom. She pressed her lips harder against mine, desperate and hungry, as though she was afraid I might vanish into thin air if she let go.I didn’t push her away. I also didn’t exactly pull her closer. I just stood there, letting her kiss me. My hand on her waist felt more like a dead weight than passion. Somewhere at the back of my mind, Celeste’s angry voice echoed in my mind.I was not sure where she went, but a part of me wished we hadn't had that fight. When Blair finally pulled back, her eyes glistened. “I knew it,” she whispered, her grin triumphant. “I knew you’

Silence. That was what happened next. I didn’t hear a sound nor a word. I slowly walked out of the corner of my room. My armpit was damp with sweat and my eyebrows etched a bit. “Who is there?” I let out gently. My hand gripping the baton I held so tightly that it might break under my tough masculine touch. My jawline was a little out of place and my breath was shallow. The florescent above me fluctuates gently before they go out. [Ah!] I shouted frightened. My gaze darting back and forth. “Show yourself you coward!” A ball of lightning came out of nowhere before I knew what was happening. The lightning brushed past me, hitting the wall picture of my grandmother and me on the wall. The picture fell and the frame broke loudly. I stopped, my eyes filled with tears as I ran towards the frame to picture it up. I tried to look around but still I couldn’t see who wanted to attack me. I clenched my teeth in anger as I got back up. A shadow moved fast past me, sending a cold shiver d

As I lay on my bed, my mind was a whirlwind of different emotions. I could barely shut my eyes. The thought of having to face my uncles for the seat my father left behind was not going to be easy. And Celsete, she was missing in all of this. I grabbed my phone again and looked at it like I was expecting her call. That was the sixth time I was going to be calling her and no response. At first, I felt scared. Maybe she was kidnapped or worse dead. But there was no way I could reach out to her. Celeste had always been the one to contact me. I fell back on my bed. Well, it was only a matter of time before she came knocking. But then, the knock truly came. At first, I felt I was hallucinating. But it came repeatedly. I got off my bed and walked to the door. Only to find Blair staring back at me. I was not too thrilled to see her. My gaze bored into her and I didn’t leave the entrance. “Looks like you are not thrilled to see me. Expecting someone else?” Blair asked brushing her long h
