Thayer touched Stella’s trembling shoulder. “Don’t worry. I was your grandfather’s soldier. I was with him when he took his last breath.”

Stella’s eyes widened. Tears streamed down her face. She missed her grandfather so much. If Morris were still alive, his family, the Colsons, would never dare to kick her out.

“It’s late. You should go home. I’ll take you there.” Thayer guided Stella to a taxi and escorted her to her apartment.

Thayer froze at the sight of Stella’s shabby apartment, even though Morris had left a massive inheritance for his children, grandchildren, and in-laws.

“You’re right. I am the granddaughter of former General Morris Colson,” Stella admitted as they arrived at her apartment door. She lowered her head sadly, remembering the beautiful moments with her grandfather.

“I know General Morris left a lot behind. Why are you living in this rundown apartment?”

“My family seized all of Grandfather’s wealth, leaving nothing for me or my own family,” Stella explained. “That’s why I have to struggle to support them.”

Thayer’s heart ached learning about Stella’s suffering, Morris’s beloved granddaughter. He never expected such conflict to arise within the Colson family.

He recalled his promise. Before dying on the battlefield, Morris had entrusted him with a necklace and asked him to protect his granddaughter, Stella.

Thayer thought he would have to protect Stella from vengeful enemies, but it turned out the threat came from her own cruel family.

Morris had done so much for Thayer. Thanks to his generosity, Thayer became the God of War, inheriting all of Morris’s knowledge.

“Rest. Don’t dwell too much on what happened today.”

Stella gave a faint smile, hiding her sadness. “Thank you again for listening to me and helping me.”

“No problem.”

Stella waved goodbye and went inside.

Thayer left her apartment and called Abner. “Abner, do you know anything about Morris’s granddaughter?”

“I’ve been trying to track her, but she’s difficult to find. You know, General Morris was very smart. He must have planned everything to hide his family’s identities so no enemy could track them.”

“I found her,” Thayer said bluntly.

“Really?” Abner was surprised.

“Her life is miserable. Her name is Stella, and she works at a real estate agency. Tomorrow she’ll be fired if she doesn’t sell ten units.”

“What’s the agency’s name?”

“Findy Estate.”

“Ah, what a coincidence. I bought your mansion from that agency too.”

Thayer’s eyebrows lifted as an idea struck him. “Go back tomorrow. Buy twenty units, whatever it takes. She cannot be fired—she’s the backbone of her family.”

“Understood. I’ll follow your orders.”

The line went dead.

Suddenly, Thayer’s phone beeped. A message notification appeared from an unknown number.

He opened it immediately. His eyes widened in shock.

“Arabella?”

The photo showed Arabella lying on Spencer’s chest, wrapped only in a blanket, exposing her bare shoulder.

Thayer’s fists clenched tightly. His chest thundered with anger. How dare Spencer touch his wife and humiliate him? He swore that bastard would pay a more painful price.

His jaw tightened and his heart burned with betrayal. He never expected Arabella to cheat on him.

Was it because Spencer was rich?

Now, Thayer was supposed to go to the mansion he had just bought for Arabella, his daughter, and her in-laws.

Instead, he returned home to find Vivian and Theo sitting casually, sipping tea.

“Where’s Arabella?” Thayer’s voice was sharp, his anger unmistakable.

“What’s with your face, huh?” Vivien asked, curious. Thayer must have experienced something horrible. She enjoyed seeing her son-in-law suffer.

“Arabella slept with Spencer! She cheated on me with him!” Thayer exploded.

“That’s great. That means my life of luxury will be back soon!” Vivien cheered. “Honey, did you hear that? Arabella slept with Spencer!”

Theodore closed his newspaper enthusiastically. “Why are you angry? It’s normal for Arabella to cheat and find a rich man who can make her happy. You should blame yourself for failing as a husband, father, and son-in-law.”

Thayer’s hands clenched. If he didn’t support them, they’d be homeless.

“You’re home.” Arabella smiled stiffly. Her makeup was smeared, her clothes messy.

“Where have you been?” Thayer asked harshly.

“I-I was looking for a job,” Arabella stammered under his angry gaze.

“By sleeping with Spencer?”

Arabella’s eyes widened. How did Thayer know?

“So, it’s true—you slept with Spencer, darling?” Vivien screamed with joy, hugging her tightly. “Finally, you realize Spencer is way more suitable as your husband!”

Arabella ignored her mother and rushed to calm Thayer. “He trapped me, Thayer. Please, believe me. I didn’t sleep with him at all.”

“Why are you apologizing to her? You deserve a useful man, not a leech like Thayer!” Theodore protested firmly.

“You people are such jerks! I… I’ll make you regret it!” Thayer stormed out, full of vengeance. Arabella chased after him, but Vivian stopped her immediately.

“Stop chasing him, Arabella! He’s not worthy of you! How many times do I have to tell you?!”

“But only Thayer always helps us! You’re still living off him! Aren’t you ashamed of treating him like this?!” Arabella could no longer stand her parents’ behavior.

“You…!” Vivian fumed but couldn’t argue.

“Instead of blaming me, Dad should find a job instead of lounging at home reading the newspaper!”

“How dare you insult your father!”

“But it’s Dad who taught me to insult useless men!”

Theodore fell silent.

The Lennox family was overjoyed when Spencer arrived to deliver the business contract.

“I’m glad you managed to get rid of Thayer.” Spencer smiled. All the Lennox family gathered at the dining table, lavish dishes in front of them.

“That’s not a big deal, sir,” Jonas smiled politely. “He’s nobody. No one will help him. He’s just a poor orphan.”

“That’s true,” Samara added enthusiastically.

“Besides, Thayer is just a burden to our family, like Arabella and her parents,” Ivy chimed in, trying to catch Spencer’s attention. “They only know how to waste money.”

Though Ivy was often guilty of the same, the Lennox family united to slander Arabella and her parents to please Spencer.

“So, what about the partnership contract you promised, Mr. Spencer? Can we discuss it now?” Kane smiled charmingly, a smile reserved for important people.

“Of course.” Spencer raised his hand, signaling his assistant to come forward.

His assistant placed the contract in front of Hendrix.

“Please read and sign,” Spencer said.

Overjoyed, Hendrix signed it immediately without reading.

Spencer smirked, laughing at the Lennox family’s stupidity.

Hendrix handed the paper back. Spencer extended his hand to shake. “From now on, you’re officially my partner. I promise to give Lennox Corp major projects and promote them to other companies under my umbrella to ensure collaboration.”

“Thank you so much! You’re incredibly generous!”

The Lennox family cheered in their hearts. It felt like winning a jackpot. Spencer Corp’s projects were worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Dividing the profits, great wealth awaited them.

“Tomorrow, we plan to hold a ceremony for our partnership. We hope you’ll attend,” Irene said softly.

“Of course.”

“Can you also invite the God of War?” Ivy looked at him hopefully.

“Good idea. Our event will be more special if he comes,” Samara added enthusiastically.

Spencer tensed. He had lied, claiming to be close to the God of War. He had even spent $5 million on tickets yesterday.

“You’re the God of War’s friend. I’m sure he’ll come, even if busy,” Kane coaxed, noticing Spencer’s hesitation.

“I’ll invite him later.” Spencer reluctantly agreed.

“Thank you so much, Mr. Spencer! You’re so kind!” Ivy exclaimed, thrilled. It was her chance to flirt with the Great and Wealthy God of War.

After dinner, Spencer emailed Abner, pleading for the General to attend the Lennox family event tomorrow. He had already risked his pride.

He swore he would give Abner anything he asked.

The owner will come to see it personally later.”“You mean…” Katy hesitated.“Yes. The General will com
