Before Anthony could fully process what was happening, he was standing in front of one of the most luxurious malls in the city, Sky Mall.
“This is the best mall in the city." Sonia said brightly.
Anthony forced a smile. "Of course it is."
Because he knew this place, the way soldiers knew battlefields.
This was where he'd once spent a ridiculous amount of his hard-earned money chasing the perfect gifts for Linda, an expensive watch here, a designer bag there, every small thing he thought might make her happy.
He remembered walking these same halls with shopping bags, picturing her smile before he'd even handed anything over.
But here he was again. Only this time, he wasn't the one doing the buying. Somebody was bringing him here to spend money on him.
The feeling was weird. And weirder than the feeling was the way she was attached to his body.
Sonia had wrapped herself around his arm completely with both hands, and shoulder pressed to his like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Anthony glanced down at her. From this angle, he could see down the front of her dress, the heavy swell of her cleavage rising with each breath.
And when she leaned in a fraction, the soft weight of her breast brushed against his arm through the silk, in a way that made his brain quietly recite the alphabet backwards.
She's your stepsister, he reminded himself. Possibly. Probably. The word "stepsister" was doing nothing against the fact that her nipples were hard under that silk and he could see them.
Sonia looked up. "Are you okay?"
He looked back at her. "Huh?"
"You've been making strange faces for the last thirty seconds."
"Have I?"
"Yes." She smiled. "Already overwhelmed by your new life?"
He laughed, a little awkwardly. "You have no idea."
Her smile widened. "Come on," she said, tugging him forward. "Let's go in."
The first stop was a luxury men's boutique. The moment they stepped in, Anthony noticed the quiet, the polish, the price tags that seemed to hum with expense.
A female attendant glanced up from the counter, her eyes sweeping over Anthony’s wet clothes, the cheap shoes, the exhaustion on his face. And her face said everything HR would have disciplined her for saying out loud. Trash has wandered in.
Anthony noticed. Of course he did — he'd seen that look plenty of times before, the one people gave when they'd already decided where you belonged.
Then her eyes moved to Sonia, and her whole attitude flipped. "Welcome in!" a smile snapping into place.
"We're here to get clothes for him," Sonia said.
The attendant's smile stayed, barely, as she glanced at Anthony again. "Of course."
He let it slide off him; he was too tired to care. Sonia, meanwhile, moved through the store with total confidence, pulling one piece after another.
"Try this." A shirt appeared in her hands. Then a blazer. Then another shirt in a color Anthony had never once considered existing.
"Sonia, I really don't think—"
"Try this one." "Hmm. Too plain. Try this." "Oh, this one. Go on." "Turn around. Let me see."
Within minutes Sonia had turned the shopping trip into something Anthony didn't quite know how to process.
She dressed him off the racks like a paper doll, holding pieces up against his chest, her fingers brushing his shoulders and collar far more often than needed.
Once, she adjusted the collar of a shirt against his throat, standing close enough that he could smell her perfume, something warm and expensive, and she looked up at him through her lashes.
"Hmm," she hummed. "You wear trouble very well."
"I— sorry, what?"
"The shirt." She patted his chest, her hand lingering just a second too long, fingers grazing the fabric over his pecs. "It suits you."
Is she flirting with me? Anthony thought, honestly panicking. That was flirting, right? Or am I just broken from today and imagining it?
"Try this on." She held up a fitted shirt, her eyes dropping to his mouth for a split second before snapping back up. "I want to see how it looks on you."
Anthony went to the changing room and stripped down. The shirt was tight, hugging his chest and abs in ways he hadn't expected.
When he stepped out, Sonia was waiting with her arms crossed, her eyes traveling down his body slowly, deliberately, like she was memorizing every inch.
"Perfect," she said softly. She stepped forward, her fingers tracing the line of his collarbone, then down to the center of his chest.
Anthony swallowed hard. "I— thanks."
She smiled, a slow, wicked thing, and leaned in until her lips were inches from his ear. "We are just getting started."

Chapter 10: The Price of an Empire
For several seconds Anthony could only stare at Robert Stark. His mind had stalled out somewhere around the words marry one of my daughters. The room felt too quiet. He glanced toward the massive portrait on the wall of the seven daughters, then back at Robert."Sorry." He rubbed the side of his head. "I need to make sure I heard you correctly."Robert's expression didn't move. "Do you expect me to repeat myself?""No." Anthony gave a short, baffled laugh. "But you also don't expect me to believe you just said what I think I just heard.""I said exactly what you heard." Robert leaned back. "You'll inherit the Stark Consortium on the condition that you marry one of my daughters."There it was again. No misunderstanding, no punchline.Robert's gaze drifted to the portrait. "So. Which one interests you?"Anthony nearly choked. "What?""Which of my daughters would you be willing to marry?""You cannot be serious." Anthony waited for even a flicker of amusement, a smile or laugh.
Chapter 9: The Proposition
Anthony walked to the study behind Sophie dressed like a different man.Sophie had fixed him up, proper shirt, proper jacket, clothes that fit a person who actually belonged here. He still felt like a guest in his own skin, but at least he looked the part now.A few minutes later he reached a set of large wooden doors. Sophie stood outside and opened them"Mr. Stark is waiting for you."Anthony nodded and stepped inside. The study door stood open, so he stepped through. The first thing Anthony noticed was the silence. Everything in the room felt like power that had better things to do than show off. His eyes drifted up one wall, and he found himself standing in front of a portrait. It was a massive family portrait, painted so realistically it felt like the people might start talking. In the center stood Robert Stark, and around him stood seven women. Seven. Are these his daughters? Anthony thought to himself. Are these all his children? His eyes moved from one face to the
Chapter 8: The Stark Sisters
Both Anthony and Sonia turned toward the voice at the same time.Standing at the entrance was the sister with blue hair. The same one who had rolled her eyes at him like he was an inconvenience earlier that afternoon.Anthony had not expected to see her again so soon, and he was even less prepared for what came next.Sonia didn't even flinch. She turned to Anthony with a bright, easy smile, and the calm of someone who had already decided how this was going to go."Anthony, let me introduce you to my fun police twin sister, Mia."Anthony blinked. "Twin?""Yeah. You can't tell, right?"He looked between them. They had the same face, same eyes, same sharp jawline. The only obvious difference was their hair, Sonia's strawberry pink and Mia's deep blue, both colors that had become part of their identities.Mia did not acknowledge him. Her gaze went straight to Sonia, looking at her sister like she wanted to strangle her with her own swimsuit strap."Answer me, Sonia!" Mia's voice cracked a
Chapter 7: Deep Water
She pulled back before Anthony could react, leaving him standing there with his heart hammering against his ribs like it was trying to escape."Sonia—""Oh, look at the time." She was already turning away, suddenly very interested in a display of silk shirts. "We need to get going. Father doesn't like it when we're late."Anthony opened his mouth. Closed it. "Right. Right."Whatever he'd heard, or thought he'd heard, was apparently never going to be mentioned again.Twenty minutes later, he understood why people said money was a language, because Sonia spoke it fluently. She piled a mountain of clothes onto a rolling rack, shirts, jackets, shoes, more shirts, until the thing looked like it was applying for its own zip code.At checkout, she paid for all of it with one lazy swipe of the card. One swipe. No bounce. No loading screen. The terminal just beeped and cleared, like the machine itself was afraid to keep a billionaire's daughter waiting. The ride back to the Stark residence was

Chapter 5: The Stark Daughters
Anthony stayed frozen at the entrance, the room in front of him not quite registering.Step-sisters. The word still felt strange, like he wasn't sure what it actually meant. His mind was still trying to catch up, which was probably why he completely failed to notice the small blur of motion that detached itself from the sofa and came rushing at him. Before he could react, a pair of arms wrapped tight around him from behind, and Anthony nearly jumped out of his skin. He looked back, startled, to find the blonde girl hugging him with a bright smile on her face. She had round cheeks, bright brown eyes, and a ponytail that bounced with pure contained energy, like the rest of her was barely holding in a fireworks show. She beamed up at him. "Are you my new big brother?"Anthony froze. "...What?""Are you?""Um." He opened his mouth, then closed it.His brain stalled out completely, because technically he wasn't her brother, at least not yet. Not until the DNA test came back, and only if it
