Sara leaned closer to Clara and whispered, barely hiding a laugh. “Is she deaf or just stupid?”

That was when Anna finally stopped moving.

Slowly, she lifted her eyes and looked at Sonia for the first time. Her gaze was calm. Completely calm. “…Do you need something?” Anna asked quietly.

The simple question made the tension in the cafeteria tighten instantly.

Sonia’s smile stiffened the moment Anna spoke. For a second, she seemed almost surprised that the girl had finally acknowledged her. Then the arrogance returned. “You’re sitting in my spot,” Sonia said, placing a hand on the table.

Anna glanced down at the table for a moment, then back up at her. “I see,” she replied calmly. But she didn’t move.

A faint murmur spread through the cafeteria again.

Clara leaned forward slightly. “Did you not hear her?” she said sharply. “That seat belongs to Sonia.”

Anna lowered her gaze back to her food and picked up another bite with her chopsticks. “I’m almost finished,” she said.

Sonia let out a short, amused laugh, tilting her head slightly as if she had just heard something ridiculous. “Almost finished?” she repeated arrogantly. “That wasn’t a suggestion.” She leaned forward slightly, her fingers pressing against the table. “When I say move, you move,” Sonia added coldly. “Or do you need someone to teach you how things work in this school?”

Clara smirked beside her. “Looks like the new girl doesn’t know who she’s talking to.”

Sara crossed her arms. “Maybe she just needs a little reminder.”

Anna remained seated, her expression unchanged as she placed another piece of food in her mouth. She chewed slowly and calmly.

The silence that followed made Sonia’s smile twitch with irritation. “…You’re ignoring me again,” Sonia said, her voice sharpening.

Anna swallowed her food and wiped her fingers neatly with a napkin. Then she looked up—but said nothing.

A ripple of stunned murmurs spread through the cafeteria.

Across the room, Bob slowly leaned back in his chair. “…Okay,” he whispered.

Jerry adjusted his glasses nervously. “…She’s either incredibly brave,” he murmured, “or she has no idea who Sonia is.”

Stefin didn’t say anything. He just kept watching Anna carefully. Something told him she knew exactly what she was doing.

That silence alone made Sonia furious. Her smile vanished completely as irritation flashed across her face. “So you’re going to ignore me?” she said coldly.

Anna remained calm, her gaze steady but uninterested. That was the final straw.

Sonia slammed her hand down on the table.

“Okay then,” she said, a proud smirk curling at the side of her lips. “Since you don’t want to get up nicely, why don’t I make you?” She picked up the can of water Anna had been drinking, opened it, and poured the entire thing over her. Water splashed across Anna’s hair, shoulders, and uniform, dripping down onto the floor.

For a moment, the entire cafeteria froze.

Then gasps spread through the room.

Some students looked shocked. Others looked nervous. A few watched with pure curiosity, eager to see what would happen next.

Across the room, Stefin immediately pushed his chair back, ready to step in. But Bob quickly grabbed his arm. “Trust me,” he said quietly.

He paused, glancing toward the girls.

“You don’t want to get involved.”

At that moment, Anna was furious. At first, she didn’t make a move, nor did she stand up. Her gaze remained fixed on the ground as water dripped from her now-soaked hair onto the floor.

“That’s what you get for being stubborn and not listening in the first place,” Sara scoffed.

The three girls burst into mocking laughter.

Sonia leaned slightly toward Anna’s ear while Anna’s head was still lowered. “Next time, don’t try acting.”

Before she could finish her words, Anna moved. She slapped Sonia's face and the sound echoed through the cafeteria. Her hand struck Sonia’s face so hard that she nearly lost her balance and stumbled sideways.

The entire cafeteria went dead silent.

Students froze mid-bite. Conversations stopped instantly. Even the air seemed to stand still.

Sonia slowly raised a hand to her cheek, her eyes wide with disbelief. “…You…” she whispered.

Clara and Sara stared in shock.

“You just hit Sonia!” Clara shouted.

Across the room, Bob’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. “…Okay,” he muttered. “I did not expect that.”

Jerry pushed his glasses up in disbelief. “…She’s dead,” he murmured.

But Anna simply stood there, water still dripping from her hair, her expression calm and cold. “That’s what you get for crossing the line,” she said quietly. Then her eyes hardened slightly.

Sonia’s shock quickly twisted into rage as her face turned red. “You’re going to regret that,” she hissed, pointing at Anna. For a moment, it looked like Sonia was about to tear up.

Anna didn’t step back. Instead, she looked straight at her and replied calmly. “Make me.”

Clara and Sara quickly moved to Sonia’s side, helping her steady herself. Without another word, the three of them turned and left the cafeteria, their faces burning with humiliation. It was the first time anyone had ever fought back against Sonia—and disgraced her in front of everyone.

For a moment after they left, the entire cafeteria fell silent. Then suddenly a single clap echoed from somewhere in the room. Then another. And another. Within seconds, the entire cafeteria erupted with applause.

Students stood from their seats, cheering and clapping as if they had just witnessed the final round of a championship match.

Whispers filled the hall at that moment.

“Did you see that slap?!”

“She actually hit Sonia…”

“No one has ever stood up to her before.”

“That new girl is crazy.”

“Crazy? That was awesome!”

Anna paused in the middle of packing her things, clearly surprised by the reaction. She slowly turned around, only to see dozens of students smiling, cheering, and applauding her.

Even Stefin and his friends looked stunned by the sudden celebration.

Bob exchanged a glance with Stefin before shrugging and joining the applause.

Stefin smiled faintly but said nothing as he clapped.

Jerry adjusted his glasses and shook his head twice. “…That,” he said, a small smile forming on his lips, “I definitely didn’t see it coming.”

Anna looked around the room for a moment, clearly uncomfortable with the attention. Then she quietly picked up her bag. “…You’re all strange,” she murmured softly. And with that, she walked toward the cafeteria exit to clean herself up before the next class began.

Meanwhile, as she left, others kept whispering, and Stefin, being close, overheard most of it.

“She didn’t even look scared,” a boy sitting in the middle of the group whispered.

“Did you see Sonia’s face?” another said.

“Man… this school just got interesting,” one added with a smile.

“Who is that girl?” a boy asked curiously.

“I think I like the new girl already,” another added with a smirk. “Sonia finally met someone who isn’t scared of her.”

Stefin heard everything but didn’t comment. Instead, he smiled. “I guess she’s not bad at all,” he finally said.

Just then, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the break. Students scrambled back to their classrooms, some still murmuring excitedly about Anna, while Stefin and his friends headed toward their next class, already wondering what the rest of the day would bring.

When she finally sat down, Stefin didn’t say a single word. The entire class was still staring at her, whispers threatening to break out at any moment. With a sharp clearing of his throat, the teacher quickly pulled everyone’s attention back to the lesson. “Alright, that’s enough. Open your textbooks to page forty-two.”An uneasy silence settled over the room. But Stefin was uncomfortable.Anna, on the other hand, didn’t seem bothered in the slightest. She sat calmly, eyes forward, as if nothing around her mattered, not the stares, not the whispers, not him.Looking at her, Stefin knew that if he tried talking to her now, he would only be ignored. Since she clearly wasn’t ready to talk, he didn’t push any further and simply went along with the flow of the class. After that, the classroom fell quiet, and the only sound that could be heard was the teacher explaining the lesson while writing on the board. Finally, Stefin broke the silence. “…You didn’t have to do all this,” he said quietly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. She gave a small nod, her red eyes sharp but gentle. “I know,” she replied softly. “But it’s my job to make sure you’re taken care of… and if I don’t do it, who will?”He ran a hand through his hair, still feeling the awkwardness from yesterday’s argument. “Thanks… I guess,” he muttered. She tilted her head slightly, as if studying him, then returned her attention to arranging breakfast.Stefin shook his head and stood there for a moment before finally sitting down. The morning sun spilled across the table, warm and bright, but an unspoken tension still lingered between them. After eating, he picked up his lunch bag, neatly tied in a small cloth. Then an old woman stepped into view from the kitchen. She carried a striking, elegant presence. Her pale skin contrasted sharply with her short silver-white hair, neatly styled back with a few soft strands framing her face. Her vivid red eyes just like Stefin’s, were sharp and expressive, composed yet intense. Her features were refined: a slender nose, a defined jawline, and slightly parted lips that suggested quiet confidence. She wore a sleeveless, high-neck black top that fit closely, emphasizing her tall, slender, well-defined frame. A single red, diamond-shaped earring hung from one ear, adding a subtle but bold accent. Her posture was upright and assured, her arms relaxed, an effortless display of authority. She was past her youth, her hair silvered by years rather than weakness, yet her posture remained straight and unyielding. Age had touched her, but it had not claimed her strength. She studied Stefin in silence. Then her gaze narrowed slightly when she noticed something susp
