    Joaquin hadn’t realized how long the ride with Rick had been until the car finally rolled to a stop in front of a large, weathered house. The sun was already dipping beneath the horizon, casting an orange hue across the sky. The house looked as though it had stood for centuries—its wood faded and chipped, vines curling around its pillars like ancient guardians. The air was thick with the scent of damp leaves and earth, and every shadow seemed to move just slightly when you weren’t looking at it.“We’re here,” Rick said, stepping out of the car. “I hope that you are really ready.”Joaquin clenched his fists and breathed in deeply. He didn’t know what kind of welcome awaited him, but it didn’t matter anymore. “I am ready,” he replied with quiet resolve.
