In his patience, Maverick was waiting in the elevator. While standing in the electric cubicle, he sometimes checked some notifications on one of his social media accounts. He scrolled down the timeline, passing through several photos posted by his followers.
"DING!" A loud ring nudged his ears as the doors opened, allowing him to step out. With his little confidence, Maverick got out of the cubicle. He carefully identified his surroundings as he attempted to find the middle hall. The moment he stepped on the floor and passed the rows of employee tables, a few workers darted their gazes to him. Some of them also threw their opinions under whispers. They were always like that whenever university students visited the company. Although they seemed to be noisy, it did not distract Maverick's attention. His focus was solely on completing the interview to finish the project assigned by the lecturer. Having reached the door of the director's room, he carefully knocked since he tried to behave politely. "Come in." Franco's deep voice was perceived. It contained determination and demand although it was not loud enough. Furthermore, the sleek wooden door was opened. Maverick's tense expression appeared as he stepped inside and greeted in a polite tone, "Excuse me, sir. I'm sorry to interrupt your busy time." Franco, sitting behind his desk, tugged a warm beam as a greeting to the young man he had just met. As he caressed his gaze to him, he replied, "No problem. Today, I'm not busy as a bee." Then, in a warm tone, he continued, "Please have a seat here." Maverick nodded gently. He obeyed Franco's order by sitting across from him. Before he started the interview, he extended his hand and introduced himself, "First of all, my name is Maverick Parker. I'm a student of the Business Management Faculty at Sunny Drive University." Franco, with his slightly wrinkled face, did the handshake with him. His orbs expressed astonishment since he knew Sunny Drive University was well-known for its brilliant students and graduates. "Oh, wow. I have a young intelligent businessman soon-to-be here, as a guest." Franco tried to melt the intense vibe he felt by throwing a simple joke. Therefore, it made Logan beam a little as he tried to maintain his composure. In fact, Maverick wanted to burst into laughter, but he had to set a good image since he was there as a representative of Sunny Drive University. He did not intend to tarnish his campus's good image to the public. Instead, he showed his modesty. "Well, I'm not so brilliant, but I always hope to be successful like you, sir." Maverick expressed his admiration for Franco directly. He really had an ambition to own a company although his uncle and aunt might be a hindrance one day. Franco, full of himself, felt prouder. It was beyond his expectations to have a fan who was still a university student. Generally, he found that fans were also businessmen, but they were new comers that attempted to cooperate with him. "Come on, young man. One day, you'll be like me, I believe." Franco encouraged in a friendly tone. He pretended to be a good model in front of Maverick although he was not actually good due to his bad deeds to Sophia Hampton, his wife. Maverick tugged a gentle smile as he heard the encouraging words. In a few minutes, he started the interview. With a small notebook and pen, he noted down the vital information related to the company's statistical business explained by Franco. In the middle of the talks, the door was knocked a bit. Then, it was opened by a young woman in her nursing uniform. She was coming with Sophia in the wheelchair. At that point, she queried in her frown, "Are you busy, honey?" "Oh, not really. It's just a small interview with a university student," Franco replied in an excited tone. Even his eyes showed enigmatic desire. It seemed that he had planned something related to Hampton Corporation. At that moment, Maverick was about to throw the next question, but it was interrupted as Franco uttered, "Wait for a moment here." "Okay." Maverick had no choice. He was just a guest there. All he could do was wait and witness what was happening in front of his eyes. Moreover, at the same place, Franco approached Sophia with a sort of document and a pen in his hands. On his wrinkled face, there was a cunning stare and beams crafted. He must have planned a thing that might not be anticipated by Sophia. He believed that Sophia would sign the document without even reading it. Therefore, he handed in the document and told her, "Honey, can you please sign this document? It's another expansion proposal." Sophia, acknowledging the company she had built, frowned in surprise. For her, personally, Hampton Corporation had a few office branches outside America. She felt it was enough to be in that number of offices since the business flow was stable and well-built. "Expansion to where?? Honey, we should not waste the balance. We need it for other things." Sophia expressed her frustration. Franco did not lose his hope. It was a common thing for him to hear Sophia's yell. He then assured, "But, this one will make our business grow more massive. I will be very pleased if you sign this proposal." "Well, I'll take a look at the clauses first." Sophia did not grant his wish. Her gazes to him was full of questions. She wondered what he had planned after acquiring some business her family had built. "Okay." Franco finally obeyed. Yet, it did not mean he would back off from his dangerous ambition. By the time he was waiting for Sophia to read the document, his personal secretary, Mike, appeared at the open door. The young man, in semi-formal attire, glanced at Franco and informed, "Excuse me, sir. There is another guest on the ground floor. He claims to be your old friend." "Okay. I'll get down for him." Franco nodded. He immediately rose from the sofa and got out of the room. From then on, Sophia stared at Maverick who determined the information he wrote in a notebook. Then, she examined some clauses stated in the documents for another time. After she got the points of it, she arranged a quick strategy. "Excuse me, kid." Sophia broke the silence as her stares were locked on Maverick. "Yes, Miss? Anything you want me to help with?" Maverick turned his head to the old woman and offered a hand. "Can you help me to take this document with you?" Sophia tried to be direct. She made sure that she did not waste time. "With me??" Maverick pressed his tone. He wondered why Sophia wanted him to take the document. At the same time, he was doubtful whether he should help her by doing such a thing. "Just take this document, and call me at the number written on the last page I have written." Sophia's tone became more dignified. TO BE CONTINUED.Latest Chapter
A dare from Hailey
Maverick rubbed his chin gently. He was trying to decide whether to upgrade his mental and physical stage or reveal a random skill card given by the system. After around two minutes of brainstorming, his curiosity won. He could not assume the next skill he may unfold from the system. "Can I unlock the skill card you get? My curiosity is tingling." Maverick scratched his nape lightly as he requested. [Of course, Master Maverick. Let me help you with it.] [A SKILL CARD UNLOCKED! You possess outstanding medical skills. With this skill, you are capable of healing various kinds of illnesses. You also understand the differences between traditional and modern medical treatments. Perhaps, you may combine both of them when you heal people. Please use it wisely, Master.] Those words were like a superpower he used to see in an old film on television. Yet, the fact he just realized was not a mere fantasy. It was a real skill he got from the system. At that point, the system seemed to re
Another prize and point
Feeling like a trooper without any knowledge background about a war he would attend, Maverick agreed to take the document. Besides that, several questions were flying through my mind about Sophia's request. Yet, he was not brave enough to ask about the reasons. When he had put the document inside his backpack, Franco returned and sat next to Sophia on the sofa. The enthusiasm in his eyes was chattered into confusion when he noticed there was no presence of his document in Sophia's hands. Even his wife put the pen on the coffee table as if she did not plan to sign any document; she just read it. "Have you signed the document, dear?" Franco impulsively inquired. He was worried that there was an obstacle that ruined his plan. Sophia glanced at him worriedly. There was a sense of guilt in her beautiful, sapphire-blue orbs. Yet, she just put on an act, pretending that she had been careless while signing the document. "Eum, I had signed it, but I accidentally ripped a part of the

A visit to Hampton Corporation
For the next two days, Maverick decided to work on the project assigned by Mrs. Clarkson. It might be too early to start doing the task, as the deadline was about two weeks away. Yet, he preferred to start doing it as an early bird. The moment the afternoon class was done, Maverick walked past the other students who were heading to different areas. Once he reached the gate, he booked an online taxi through his phone. The app then led to the finding of a certain driver in his campus area. As he had to wait for the taxi to come, he stood near the gate. In the waiting time, his orbs witnessed a few scenes around. Firstly, he caught a group of girls walking side by side, carrying luxurious, branded bags. Among those girls, there is a Ella Coleman, the most beautiful girl in Sunny Drive University. Her dark brown long wavy hair swayed, exposing her tiny sweet face. Her almond-brown eyes, exuding cheerfulness and positive vibes, were aimed at her friends as she smiled and responded
Asher boastful story
The new day came. It welcomed the citizens with slightly cold weather, combined with sunlight peeking through several thin clouds in the sky. Having finished with bathing and dressing up, Maverick got down to the kitchen. By the time he stepped closer to the dining table, Asher, Marshall, and Louisa were there. They didn't greet him. Even, they pretend as if he weren't there. Looking at such a situation, Maverick was cool as a cucumber. He might feel irritated inside, but he got used to it. He also acknowledged they disliked his existence in there. That was why he planned to save more bucks, so that he could reside in a new place. Yet, while he was ready to take a loaf of bread, Louisa glanced at him indifferently. She then snapped, "Who asks you to have breakfast with us?? Have you forgotten to do the washing-up?!" Maverick rolled his eyes. The frustration glinted in his orbs. In contrast, he attempted to negotiate politely, "Can't it be done after I grab a bite? I'll do it
Slapping with a proof
The words uttered by Maverick made Hailey look down at him more. The blonde girl darted a cold glare at him. Her pink lips twitched slightly, indicating that she was displeased with his confident reaction. Then, she sneered, "Are you trying to act like a rich billionaire?? Uh, come on, this is a reality, not a mini series that changes you in a night, Parker." "Alright. If you insist, I'll prove your accusation as a defaming act." Maverick strengthened his confidence. He seemed not to be scared to provide the legit proof to pay for his shopping list. Then, the cashier staff glanced at him as she scanned each item submitted. Once the scanning was done, the staff inquired, "How will you pay, sir? By cash, banking app, or card?" Calmly standing behind the counter, Maverick got his phone and scrolled down to open his banking app. "I'd like to pay through the banking app," He replied confidently. He knew the exact amount he had, especially since he had done the first mission, and he
