He pushed the questions aside. He would investigate everything once his mission was over.

When they arrived at Sophia’s house, Jade left immediately.

“Investigate that man,” Carl ordered.

“Yes, Boss,” Jade replied before heading out.

Even while standing at the door, Carl sensed the unnatural quiet surrounding the place.

He frowned. It was already night. Sophia should have been home by now.

He checked her room—empty.

The unease in his chest grew.

Carl took out his phone and tried calling her. No answer. After his first attempt, he suddenly couldn’t reach her at all.

“Did she just… block me?”

He slipped his phone back into his pocket and went outside. From there, he drove straight to the Carson mansion.

But Sophia wasn’t there either.
