Jasmine looked at the woman from head to toe. She looked at Carl.

“Who is she, Carl?”

Carl sighed. He turned to Sofia, but Jasmine grabbed his arm again.

“Don’t you dare turn away from me! Who is she? And why does she interfere with us?” she demanded.

Sofia’s eyebrow arched high, her smirk sharp enough to cut glass.

“Who am I? This man—” she strode forward and pulled Carl away from Jasmine, linking her arm possessively through Carl’s, “—is with me.”

She leaned closer, her voice deliberately sweet. “Sorry for keeping you waiting.”

“What did you just say?” Carl asked in disbelief.Just moments ago, Jasmine had been fighting off Manuel. And now, suddenly, she was holding Carl back, stopping him from striking the man down. Her grip on Carl’s arm tightened. She was terrified—not just for herself, but for him. If Carl hurt Manuel further, whoever stood behind that spoiled bastard would surely come after him. Unlike her, Carl didn’t have a powerful name to shield him.“Just stop it now, Carl.” Jasmine drew a deep breath, her voice trembling. “T-Thank you for helping me. But you don’t need to take this any further. Let’s just… apologize to Mr. Smith.”Carl’s jaw dropped. “Do you even hear yourself, Jasmine? He tried to rape you in front of everyone—and you want me to apologize to him instead?”Frustration welled up in Jasmine’s chest. “You don’t understand, Carl. Mr. Smith isn’t just some ordinary man! We need to end this here—before it gets worse!”Carl let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head at her words. He had s

His brows furrowed, fists clenched, he glared at Manuel.“Let her go,” he repeated firmly.Irritated, Manuel released Jasmine’s dress and let out an annoyed laugh.“I’m just trying to fuck a woman, and people keep interrupting me!” he shouted. “Don’t worry—if you’re jealous, you can have your turn after I’m done.”Carl’s fists tightened, his body ready to lunge, but a guard blocked his path. Carl’s glare sharpened.“Get out of my way if you don’t want to get hurt.”That was the last straw for Manuel. He snapped his fingers.“Go on—take him down. Teach him a lesson for meddling in my business!”The guards wasted no time, charging straight at Carl, while Manuel turned his attention back to Jasmine, trying to force h

No wonder the man’s face had felt so familiar. The weight of his mistake pressed down on him like a vice.He scrambled upright, forcing a trembling smile onto his lips. “M-Mr. Smith! I—I didn’t recognize you right away. I’m sorry. It was all just a misunderstanding.”Manuel’s lips twisted into a cruel smirk. “Misunderstanding? Where’s that courage you flaunted earlier? Come on, bring it out now!” His voice dripped with mockery, loud enough for the crowd to hear.Michael bowed his head repeatedly. “I’m really sorry for not recognizing you, Sir! Sorry!” When silence met his pleas, desperation took over—he began slapping himself across the face, one blow after another. “I’m a fool! Stupid! Forgive me for what I did! The Carson banquet building gleamed under the evening sky, its grand façade glowing with golden light. Inside, a colossal chandelier glittered from the vaulted ceiling, scattering diamonds of brilliance across the polished marble floor. A long crimson carpet stretched from the entrance, where guests from the country’s most prominent families made their arrival. Among them were Jasmine Garcia and Michael Montez. Michael’s smile widened as he offered his hand to Jasmine while she gracefully stepped down from the car. She wore a silver V-neck gown that shimmered with every movement. The daring slit in her skirt revealed glimpses of porcelain skin, and the bare design of her back left the crowd captivated. As the two walked the red carpet, whispers rippled among the guests. “Is that Ms. Garcia?” one voice murmured. “Yes. I heard she’s one of the rising young CEOs in the country,” another replied. “She’s breathtaking. No wonder she came with Mr. Montez.” “Isn’t he the heir to Montez
