Janet’s eyes widened with recognition as the woman in white blazers approached. It was Ms. Rose, a well-known manager from Diamond Global. A smile spread across Janet’s face.
“You’ve come at the right time, Ms. Rose,” she called out loudly, making sure the growing crowd could hear. She gestured dramatically toward Harrison and Mia. “These two are trying to sneak in with fake invitations. Please have them thrown out immediately.” She waved her hand in disdain, as if swatting away insects.
The security guards, eager to please someone from Diamond Global, immediately moved to shove Harrison and Mia away. He couldn’t risk his job over nobodies.
Ms. Rose’s expression darkened with fury. Janet’s smirk widened with delight. “See, Harrison, you’ve angered a manager from Diamond Global.” She sneered, her voice filled with venom. “Mia, this is your useless boyfriend. He only drags you down and ruins everything.”
Harrison met Mia’s worried gaze and gave her a reassuring expression. He gently squeezed her hand, hoping she wouldn’t lose faint in him.
The security guard grew bolder, grabbing Harrison’s arm roughly. But before he could pull him away, Ms. Rose’s hand flew out, slapping the guard hard across the face, the slap made his cheek sting and Janet’s smirk froze. Mia gasped, frozen in shock. David jerked back, eyes wide with disbelief.
“Stop!” Ms. Rose yelled at the guard, her voice cold with authority. “Did you get this job through connections? Who gave you permission to lay hands on a VIP?”
Janet opened her mouth to protest, but Ms. Rose turned to her instantly. “Shut up! You’re disturbing our honored guest.”
Janet stood stunned, her face flushed with humiliation.
Ms. Rose finally bowed respectfully to Harrison. “Mr. Harrison, I deeply apologize for the incompetence of our security team.” She turned to the trembling guard. “You’re fired, effective immediately.” The security guard wailed tearfully.
The guard wailed, collapsing to his knees and clutching desperately at Harrison’s pants leg. “Please, sir, have mercy!” Tears streamed down his face.
Ms. Rose kicked him away coldly. “Get lost.”
Ms. Rose then addressed the remaining guards with steel in her voice. “Re-check the invitations of these two individual.” She pointed at Janet and David. “The VIP list was updated in the system. Do not allow unqualified people to enter.”
The guards immediately blocked Janet and David. “Your invitations are invalid.” They declared.
Janet’s face drained of all color. “What? That’s impossible!”
Harrison’s lips curved into a cold, mocking smile. “Don’t forget our bet, Janet.”
“I… I…” Janet stuttered, panic flashing in her eyes as she desperately tried to find an escape. “It was just a casual remark. You can’t seriously expect me to kneel here in front of everyone.”
Mai, gaining courage from Harrison’s presence, spoke. “A bet is a bet, Janet.”
Janet’s face turned crimson with embarrassment and rage. She lifted her chin defiantly, but her voice wavered. “Don’t be so aggressive. It was nothing serious. Must you take it so literally?”
Harrison shrugged. “I can’t force you to honor it. But with so many people watching…” He glanced meaningfully at the crowd of onlookers recording on their phone. “Your refusal will make excellent entertainment news headlines tomorrow morning.”
Janet’s gaze darted nervously around at the spectators. Harrison let out a mocking chuckle watching her humiliated expression with quiet satisfaction.
“Mr. Harrison, Ms. Mia, please allow me to escort you inside.” Ms. Rose said respectfully, leading them through the grand doors.
Janet clenched her jaw and turned to David. “How could this invitation be fake?” She demanded, stretching the gold card to him.
David couldn’t respond, he was the son of the Hayes family chauffeur, the invitation card had been stolen from Hayes family home by his mother who was a maid there.
Harrison’s identity was very well concealed, he didn’t know Harrison was the true young master.
David slowly pulled Janet into his arms and comforted her. “Hold on, I will make a call.” He took out his phone and dialed a number.
He called Mr. Neil, another manager of Diamond Global who had more authority than Ms. Rose. Mr. Neil was David’s maternal uncle, who was helping him maintain his false identity.
“Hello, Mr. Neil, I’m outside the banquet hall with Janet Edward, our access into the banquet has been blocked by the security guards.” David told him.
“Give the phone to the guard.” Neil instructed from the other end of the line and David handed the phone over. The security guard recognized Neil’s voice, and quickly granted them access to go in.
Inside the elegant banquet hall, Mia nervously handed her carefully prepared contract proposal to Ms. Rose. “Since you are a manager at Diamond Global, could you please pass this to the president?” she asked, hope shining in her eyes despite her nerves.
“Mia, I can’t…” Ms. Rose began.
“I am willing to forgo thirty percent of my profits,” Mia interrupted desperately, her voice trembling with urgency. “I just need this partnership. Please, help me get it to the president…”
“I’m sorry, Ms, Mia,” Ms. Rose said, shaking her head. “I don’t have the authority to negotiate contract. I was only instructed to receive Mr. Harrison.”
Mia’s shoulders slumped in defeat. The thought of her family crisis, her stepmother’s threats and their company near bankruptcy made tears shimmered in her eyes as she turned to leave.
“I understand… thank you anyway.” Mia said softly.
Harrison spoke up smoothly. “I believe Mia Edward is trustworthy and capable. Please show this contract to Ms. Greta.”
Ms. Rose hesitated for a moment before nodding. “As you wish,” she accepted the proposal.
“Thank you very much.” Mia whispered gratefully to Harrison, though confusion lingered in her gaze. As Ms, Rose walked away, she turned to him. “What exactly is your relationship with Ms. Greta?”
Harrison met her curious eyes briefly, then looked away. After a pause, he decided to test the waters. “I am the actual own of Diamond Global.”
Mia stared at him for a second, then she let out a soft, disbelieving chuckle. “You must be joking.”
Harrison smiled gently, not wanting to overwhelm her. “You’re right, I’m joking. Actually, I just know Ms. Greta well. I had helped her with something important in the past.”
Janet happened to walk in at that moment, still fuming. She had overheard Harrison’s words and seized the opportunity to strike. “No wonder you managed to sneak in with a fake invitation.” She sneered loudly. “It turns out Ms. Greta has been secretly helping you. How pathetic.”
Janet had never heard of Ms. Greta name before and assumed she was just another ordinary employee. The arrogance in her voice made it clear she believed she could crush them.

David drew a sharp breath of relief when he saw it was only Harrison who had stepped inside. He straightened his shoulders and looked Harrisons straight in the eye. Instead of explaining himself, he twisted the question back at him.“What am I doing here?” David scoffed. “Maybe I should ask you the same question. You walk in here like it’s your office, but look at you, you work as a servant in this house just like every other servants. No wonder you were able to get close to President Greta. A fraud and a blackmailer, that’s what you are, you threaten people and hide the truth so no one would see who you really are. One day someone will expose you.”Harrison’s face darkened. “Watch your mouth, you’re in here, yet you have the guts to run your mouth?” Harrison ran a finger through his hair. “You don’t even know anything about me.”“I know enough.” David shot back. “You pushed people around and act clean while you dig into other people’s business. You’re no better than the men you prete

David parked his car a short distance from the large iron gates of the Hayes mansion. He took a deep breath and fixed a polite smile on his face, adjusting his shirt as he looked at the car mirror.“We are doing this for Janet, David,” he muttered, taking a deep breath. “Let’s do it right.” He encouraged himself.Today he was not coming as an outsider to the Hayes mansion, he was coming as the son of his mother who worked here. His mother had served the Hayes family for many years. And she managed the household staff of the Hayes family, and that was his cover. He had made promises to Janet, and since she needed his help for her business, he would do anything to make her get the contract at Diamond Global. The only way he saw to get it was through pressure and the Hayes family had close ties to Diamond Global run by President Greta.David believed that somewhere inside this house there would be papers or secret he could use. If he found something damaging, he could force President Gre

Harrison’s brows snapped together. “I don’t care what you think of me,” he said coldly. “She told you to leave her alone, so that’s enough, leave.”Roy took a step closer, chest out, arrogance pouring off him. “Or what?” he asked. “You’ll fight me in the middle of the street?” He spread out his hand. “Don’t embarrass yourself. A guy like you doesn’t belong next to a woman like her. Mia needs someone who can actually stand at her level, not some broke outsider hoping for free money.”Mia stepped in front of Harrison, facing her ex-boyfriend. “Listen carefully,” she said. “Whatever we had is finished. It died the day you walked away from my life.”“This man,” she pointed at Harrison. “He is the one who treated me with respect when no one else did. You don’t get to come back now and insult him. You don’t get to touch me, you should leave now.” She pointed at the street.Roy’s smile flattered, and his brows furrowed. “You can’t be serious.” he said, staring at her in anger. “After everyth

Harrison and Mia went to a cafeteria a few miles from Mia’s place, they sat by the window and ordered coffee and sandwich.“What happened to you?” Mia asked after staring at his face for a while, it was faint but she could still see few bruises on his face.“I am fine.” Harrison assured her, but she shook her head.“Janet and David came to my office last night, they said you were at the hospital, I was so worried, I checked the internet but there was no accident that happened at the country side, and I tried calling you multiple times but there was no response, I couldn’t sit still and---“Harrison quickly reached over the table and held her hand, she paused her lips as he squeezed it tenderly and met her gaze.“I am here, see…” he said softly and tilted his head. “I’m right in front of you, I’m good.” He added and she closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.Mia opened her eyes again. “Janet and David made it seem like you were badly hurt, and I began regretting not taking your
