Chapter 18: Supportive Husband?

Having no other choice despite her loud protests, Zora eventually agreed to take Cassian to the hospital.

She walked ahead quickly, clearly irritated, while Cassian followed beside her looking completely relaxed, like he was going on a casual outing instead of walking into a tense family situation.

“You are seriously a pain,” Zora muttered as they reached the car.

Cassian opened the passenger door smoothly and looked at her with a grin.

“That hurts. I’m out her

Chapter 134: Straight to the SourceCassian looked at Zora for a moment before asking, “Why would you say something like that?”Zora leaned back slightly in her chair, but there was no hesitation in her expression. She had clearly been thinking about it for some time.“I’m not saying it because I hate her,” she replied. “And it has nothing to do with jealousy either. I know what kind of person my stepmother is.”Cassian remained quiet, waiting.Zora folded her arms. “She has wanted control of the company for a long time. She has never hidden that properly, even when she pretends otherwise.”Cassian’s eyes narrowed faintly. “And your father?”“That’s where I’m not certain.”She paused for a moment before continuing.“My father could be involved too, but I don’t want to say that without proof. He has made enough bad decisions for me to question him, but wanting the company has never really been his main issue.”Cassian gave a small nod.Zora looked down at the documents still spread acr

Chapter 133: Suspect Before she could reply, Cassian leaned back in his chair and added with a completely straight face, “If you’ve finally decided you want to do it, at least wait until we get home.”Zora’s eyes widened.Cassian glanced around her office as though seriously considering the alternative. “Although doing it here does sound exciting. The office is quiet, the door is closed, and...”“Cassian.”He ignored the warning in her voice.“The only problem is someone might walk in. That would be awkward. Unless you’re into that sort of...”Zora shot out of her seat and before Cassian could finish whatever nonsense was forming in his head, she walked around the desk and slapped one hand over his mouth.“Please,” she said through gritted teeth, staring directly into his amused eyes. “For the sake of my sanity, shut up.”Cassian’s shoulders moved slightly with restrained laughter.Zora pressed her hand harder against his mouth. “Not another word.”He looked at her innocently. She kn

Chapter 132: Too CoincidentalCassian sighed and shook his head before pulling out his phone.Zora noticed the movement almost immediately. She had already turned back to the documents on her desk, but the way he suddenly began typing after suggesting she contact Asher made her suspicious.“What are you doing?”Cassian did not even look up. “Replying to someone.”Zora’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Who?”“A classmate.”That answer made her pause. “Classmate?”Cassian nodded seriously while continuing to type. “Female classmate.”Zora stared at him for a second longer than necessary, and Cassian caught it from the corner of his eye. A faint smile appeared on his face.“She had a crush on me back then,” he added casually. “Still does, actually. Very persistent woman.”Zora scoffed and returned her attention to the file. “Why are you telling me?”“You asked.”“I asked who you were texting. I didn’t ask for her romantic history.”Cassian finally looked up, clearly enjoying himself now. “I tho

Chapter 131: A Targeted BlowHearing this, Cassian frowned slightly.“What exactly is happening?”Zora leaned back in her chair and rubbed her temple. She had clearly been going through the problem for hours, and the more she explained it, the more obvious it became that the situation was not some ordinary business setback.“The contract is with Skyline Dominion Group,” she said. “They need a particular processed material from us, and we agreed to deliver it within about a week.”Cassian nodded for her to continue.“The problem is that the material we supply them needs certain raw materials before production can even begin properly. Everything was already arranged. Suppliers had been contacted, transport was ready and the schedule was tight, but manageable.”Her expression hardened slightly.“Then today, everything started going wrong at once.”Cassian remained quiet.Zora pulled one of the documents closer and opened it. “The raw materials we need have suddenly become difficult to ob

Chapter 130: Someone Was InterferingCassian left the Harthwone residence and headed back to the clinic. The rest of the day passed without any trouble. Patients came and went as usual, Jude handled most of the ordinary cases, and Cassian only stepped in whenever something required his attention. After the incident with the police, the clinic had returned to normal surprisingly quickly, and none of the staff seemed interested in bringing up the matter again.By evening, the last few patients had been attended to and the clinic gradually began to close. Cassian finished reviewing one final prescription, gave a few instructions to the nurses for the following morning and picked up his car keys.He usually returned home around this time, but instead of driving straight back, he headed towards Zora’s company.Recently, whenever their schedules allowed it, he would pick her up after work. It had become something of a quiet routine between them, even though neither of them had ever formally

Chapter 129: A Task for JacksonDamien agreed without hesitation.“I’ll do that.”Cassian gave a small nod, then looked towards the training ground outside before turning back to him.“Tell Jackson to look into the branches of the Harthwone family.”Damien’s expression changed slightly.“The branches?”“Yes.” Cassian leaned back for a moment, his tone calm. “Let him find out what they’ve been doing recently. Businesses, movements, people they’ve been meeting, anything unusual.”Damien frowned slightly but did not question him immediately.Cassian was not someone who did things without a reason. Damien had already learned that much. He might appear lazy, speak casually and refuse to explain himself most of the time, but there was usually something behind every instruction he gave. If he suddenly wanted Jackson investigating the distant branches of the Harthwone family, then there was probably something Cassian had noticed.Damien just did not know what it was yet.He thought briefly be
