Cyrus asked him to explain what he meant.

Akeel thought back to the controlled test at Crownspire. “Every copied ability settled when Danaya released her aura,” he said. “Force, shield, healing, and Supersense became easier to separate.”

Cyrus waited for him to continue.

“My natural copying ability reacted differently,” Akeel said. “It did not become quiet. It became more alert.”

“Could you have copied an ability from her during one of your earlier contacts?” Cyrus asked.

“No,” Akeel replied. “

The word HAVENROCK remained above Theron’s fading record.Akeel kept his voice low as he looked at Cyrus. “Check Havenrock,” he said.Cyrus understood what the word meant to him. “Bram and Hester?” Cyrus asked.“Everything,” Akeel replied.Cyrus gave a small nod. He understood that Bram, Hester, Marius, the Corvain family, and everyone else had to remain unaware until they knew what Theron had actually done. Akeel was not ready to decide that the people who raised him had lied. Theron might have placed him with them for protection, and Bram or Hester might never have known the whole story. The old cabinet began losing light.Elias noticed the change first. Several sections inside Theron’s protected medical archive were already dimming as the remaining stored energy ran out.“What do we preserve first?” Elias asked Cyrus.Cyrus looked at him instead of answering. “You are the temporary medical record keeper,” Cyrus said. “You decide.”Elias hesitated only briefly. He chose Selene’s chi

“Against the missing Akeel,” Akeel replied.Cyrus did not answer immediately. He looked at the preserved records spread across the table, then at the fresh blood sample Akeel had already provided.“Your blood is not the problem,” Cyrus said. “We have already confirmed that Selene is your biological mother. The problem is the sample connected to the missing Akeel. Our earlier comparison depended on an old Corvain bloodline record, and we now know someone altered parts of that archive.”Akeel understood the problem. Running another test against the same questionable record would only give them another result they could not fully trust.“We need an independent sample,” Cyrus continued. “Something created before anyone had a reason to change the Corvain family records.”Akeel’s attention moved toward Theron’s old token.Theron had known that Selene gave birth to two children. He had investigated the changed birth record, preserved private memories outside the normal archive, and hidden ev

Danaya narrowed her eyes at Akeel.“Are you certain?” she asked.“The voice sounds like Virella,” Akeel replied. “But the memory is damaged, and it was recorded decades ago. A voice alone is not enough to prove she was the woman in that room.”Cyrus agreed. He moved closer to Theron’s dead memory crystal but did not touch it.“We need another clear fragment, the original healing crystal, another record, or anything that connects Virella directly to the order,” Cyrus said.Akeel stared at the dark crystal. He already had suspicions, but suspicion was not what he wanted.“I don’t want something she can explain away,” Akeel said. “I want proof.”Danaya raised her hand and strengthened the sealing technique around the room. The walls glowed more brightly for a moment before the light settled. No sound or spiritual sense could pass through the barrier while it remained active.Cyrus carefully placed Theron’s damaged memory crystal inside a preservation case. The case would keep its remaini

Akeel kept his eyes on the hidden healer.“Who gave the order?” he asked. The healer’s face tightened, and several seconds passed before they replied.“If I give you a name without proof, both of us could be dead before morning,” the healer said.“Is that person still alive?” Akeel asked. The healer hesitated again.Akeel quietly activated Supersense, sharpening his hearing until he could pick out the healer’s heartbeat and the small changes in their breathing. The heartbeat had become faster. The fear was real, but that still did not tell him why they were afraid. The healer could be protecting someone, or they could simply fear a secret they did not fully understand.Akeel decided not to force the same question.“What happened to the second child?” he asked.“Theron never told me where the child was taken afterward,” the healer replied. “I only know what I saw. Selene gave birth to two living children. One remained with the family, while the other disappeared from the medical area.

  • CH 56 - Try To keep Up

Behind the railing of the upper medical gallery, a figure in plain healer clothing stood partly hidden by the crowd. Theron’s token was already warm against Akeel’s chest.Elias followed Akeel’s gaze, but the figure moved away before he could see who it was.“We’ll talk later,” Akeel said.“You said that as if there really is something to explain,” Elias replied.Akeel gave him no answer. He moved toward the eastern side of the hall, and the token became warmer. When he stepped back toward the center, the warmth faded. The token was reacting to the same energy connected to Selene’s blocked channels, Theron’s records, and the healer who had been present when Selene gave birth. Before Akeel could follow the figure, Seraphine called him from the exhibition floor. He stopped. Danaya was already watching his movements, while Elias had begun asking questions about his identity. The master healer had also appeared and disappeared only minutes earlier. If Akeel vanished again, he would draw e

Virella recovered quickly.“I know nothing about a second child,” Virella said. “You are twisting a damaged record because you want another excuse to attack me.”“Then why did you react before anyone else understood what the record meant?” Akeel asked.Virella’s breathing remained steady, and her heartbeat had already returned to a controlled rhythm. Akeel kept Supersense active, but he did not treat her earlier reaction as proof. Virella had enough experience to control her body, and a quick change in her heartbeat could not tell him exactly what she knew.Aldric turned toward the portable Bloodline Archive.“Open the rest of the birth record,” Aldric ordered. The formation did not respond. Aldric released his patriarch seal and tried again, but a message appeared above the terminal.ACCESS LIMITED BY ORIGINAL MEDICAL SEAL.“That seal belongs to Theron’s old medical authority,” Elias said as he studied the glowing symbols.“Theron could access records that even the patriarch could no
