The pain throbbing inside Adrian was not visible in his expression.

Yet it festered like an unrelenting cancer.

That night, he found it hard to sleep as he checked the details he got over and over again.

Maybe this Dahlia was linked to his aunt somehow.

Yet despite the bleary eyes gotten from a sleepless night, Adrian couldn’t find any useful similarity as dawn painted the sky in its glorious hues.

The only similarity was that this Dahlia had changed her name from Sue Robert to Dahlia Kingston.

Adrian only knew Dahlia had changed her name. He had no idea what she changed it to.

The fear he had been trying to tamp down reared its head again.

What if…something had happened to her?

What if he was already too late?

He succeeded in dismissing the impossible thought.

Yet the simmering anger stayed ripe in him.

He directed it firmly at the original cause.

“I told you you would regret this. You shouldn’t have done it, Chairman Cross,” he muttered that dawn in the concealed room he had turned into his strategy room.

He immediately logged into the untraceable Spider Network site.

The information he needed was all compiled and ready for him.

He clicked on the folder marked Garret Han.

He opened the folder, scanned through the man’s deals, and smiled when he saw the one that involved Daniel Cross.

A brief glance had him shaking his head with a humourless smile.

“Golden son, indeed,” he muttered as he sent Garret’s most recent deal to the Aurion Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Some of his anger eased as he saw the mail delivered.

He leaned back and stared at the screen as the image of Dahlia sprang into his mind’s eye.

“I will find you, I promise. Please, hang on,” he muttered as he thought of the fact that this was the first time he had actually used the data gotten through the network for his personal reasons.

The network had come into place because of Dahlia, yet it had grown into something bigger than Adrian’s initial intention.

Adrian scoffed. He had helped countless others with the network, yet the reason he created it remained unsolved.

Only a few people even knew Spider Network existed, and Adrian rarely accepted requests.

Many made the mistake of thinking the network could be bought.

Adrian had only helped those he found deserving.

Spider Network had enough information to shake Zerovia to its core.

It was one main reason why Adrian was discreet with its operations.

The greedy could wreak serious havoc with an agency like Spider Network.

Its reach rivalled the intelligence agencies of entire nations.

In the wrong hands, Spider Network could become a nightmare.

Yet Adrian was only interested in finding his aunt.

Knowing the Bureau would go a long way to easing his anger and showing Richard that there are consequences for all actions, he headed to the gym to burn off the remnants of his fury.

Somewhere across the city, Bureau cars pulled up in front of Garret Han’s villa.

Doors opened in unison just as a balding middle-aged man stepped out of the house.

“Garret Han,” a voice said coldly. “You are under arrest.”

“Hector, you are testing me!” Richard bellowed.“And what will you do?!” The old man shouted, though he couldn't jerk to his feet just as fast. “Time was when I was ecstatic to own 10% of a group like this. That time is long gone. You ran it to the ground. You and your stupid son. And the son you neglect is doing well outside. Fool!” Hector spat.“You…”Hector turned to Stephen Eyre. “Are we done here? I am done talking to this blockhead. He never listens anyway. Thinks money makes him better than the rest.”“Yes, we can round up now. The vote already determined the outcome. I am sorry.”The man calmly got out of the seat and took the empty one to the right.Richard stared at him, unsure of whether he had been expecting a confrontation.Another unknown man was there too. They were both dressed in black suits, but t

Richard's mind departed the station before he was fully out of it.“What the hell is going on?” he muttered as the driver held the door open for him.“Sir?” the latter asked in confusion.“Drive!”Adrian's warning filtered into his mind again.Though the time was not up yet, he couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in his heart. He dialled Adrian's number. The call rang until it disconnected. No response.“This insolent…” He dialled the number again. “I don't have time for this,” he gritted as the call started ringing again.“Oh? Why bother to call then?” Adrian's cold tone came through the phone.Richard looked at the phone, chagrined that he had not noticed the call was already picked up.“She did not do it,” he said tersely. “I don't know why you keep going against your mother like this, but…”“This is why you called? Really?”Richard huffed at the interruption. Still, he swallowed it and continued, “Of course. You brought me all this way, didn't you?”“And you took your sweet time, di

She stared at Richard for a beat. Then she hurriedly said, “He…he mentioned it. He said it here, so I thought you knew. He said I poisoned her at the engagement party.” More tears sprang to her eyes as she smacked the table. “How could I have done that?”“The same way you attacked Dahlia? You know, the reason you're here in the first place?”Her eyes widened as her lips shook. “Honey, how…how can you say that to me? Look at me. Chained like an animal. If I really did it, I would have talked instead of getting tortured here. You know me. I don't have a tolerance for pain like this. I can't even stand you staying angry with me for a day, and you think I'll deliberately want this? I am chained. Robbed of my freedom. Deprived of seeing you come home every day. Woul

“I don't have time for this!” Richard Cross snapped as soon as they brought Patricia in.“Then why are you here? You could leave me here to rot, but come running when that bastard threatens you.” Patricia fumed inwardly.Outwardly, she gave him a wan smile as she walked gingerly to the seat.“Honey,” she said in a trembling tone, sighing loudly.“What is wrong with you?” Richard finally looked at her properly. “Why are you cuffed?”Her shoulders sagged forlornly as she said, “They've been treating me awfully here. Adrian…” She coughed. “Your son made sure of it. They won't even take me to the hospital when I am ill.”

Even the smell was peculiar. Not offensive at the first whiff, yet not something you want around for long in an enclosed space.“That’s what has been attacking her body?” Adrian said in a tight tone.“What…what is it?” Dr Wilson asked in awe, the brown-stained needle still suspended in his hand.“Red Lotus reproductive toxin. Yin-Shou is not something you see every day, but it’s one of the surest potions for damaging ovarian tissue and the endometrium. If only it would have stopped there if it remained in her body.”Dr Wilson blanched. “And the transfusion I authorised would have…”“You did
