The night Eric left for Maple Creek, Chloe showed up at Lily’s house, weighed down by the mess in her head. The atmosphere instantly turned awkward—they barely spent time together anymore.

“I’m fine.” Chloe gave a stiff smile. “Is your mom not home yet?” She glanced around. Lily’s luxurious house was unusually quiet. Honestly, it looked exactly like her own home.

“Looks like she won’t be home tonight. She’s still at the showroom.”

The conversation died again. No one said a word, and the silence grew heavier. It was as if neither of them knew how to start talking.

Eric let out a long breath as he looked at Chloe lying in the guest room of his house. He rubbed his face several times, his mind weighed down by a single concern. He would tell Violet about this later—to prevent any misunderstanding. He had just finished clearing up the last one, and he had no intention of letting history repeat itself.“Get some sleep. I’ll stay here and keep watch,” Eric said when Chloe turned to look at him sitting on the single sofa. The reason Eric agreed to let Chloe stay over was because she reminded him of Elise—who had once been in a situation just as bad. Chloe had no siblings or relatives in the city, and her parents were unavailable right now.Meanwhile, despite Eric telling her to sleep, Chloe clearly couldn’t close her eyes. She had tried, but it felt like a huge rock was pressing down on her chest, forcing her eyes open again.“Are you worried about Violet?” Chloe asked as she sat up on the bed.Eric exhaled sharply. “I told you to sleep. And you’re si

She hadn’t even managed to push him out of her mind yet—now she was falling even deeper. He protected me like that… damn it. If it’s come to this, what am I supposed to do? Chloe’s heart trembled. She flinched when Eric turned around and looked at her.Eric walked over to where Chloe sat on the bed, slipping off his black suit jacket and draping it gently over her shoulders.“The police will be here soon,” he said softly. “I’ll get you some water.”Chloe quickly stopped him. “C-can I come with you? I’m scared… what if he wakes up and—”Eric nodded immediately. He helped her to her feet and guided her carefully out of the room. They left th

At the same time, he heard Chloe’s faint sobbing from inside. When Eric shoved open the unlocked door, the scene inside made his blood boil.A large, muscular man was pinning Chloe down, clearly trying to assault her.BAM!Without a single word, Eric drove a brutal punch straight into the pervert’s head.“Aaaargh!”The man screamed as his body flew backward and slammed into the wall. Eric’s punch split his temple open—blood splattered onto the floor. What happened to that man was completely unnatural, as if he’d just been beaten by dozens of muscle-bound fighters at once.Even Eric himself was stunned. He knew this was the effect of the System’s Vitality Boost Level: Supreme, but the sheer jump in his strength still caught him off guard.Meanwhile, seeing Eric suddenly appear in her house, Chloe felt like she’d been saved from hell itself. Still crying, she whispered weakly,“Eric…”Eric was about to beat the per

Sure, the long-awaited System notification finally popped up, making Eric’s face light up. Relief washed over him, followed by genuine joy.But just a few seconds later, the world seemed to shrink—until it was just him.Eric felt his body change. Lighter. Warmer. As if a steady stream of energy was flowing beneath his skin—stable, intense, perfectly regulated. He inhaled deeply, then let the breath out slowly, focusing on the air moving in and out of his lungs. Everything felt smooth, effortless. No tightness at all. His chest felt wide open, expansive.Violet glanced at him. “Are you okay?” she asked.“Yeah, yeah,” Eric replied with a smile.Violet smiled in relief—but inside, Eric felt something extraordinary unfolding.Every time he looked at Violet, his focus sharpened, razor-clear, unwavering. He could even hear the sound of an ice cream scoop scraping against the metal inside the minivan—despite it being several meters away.“Eric,” Violet called softly, touching the back of his

Eric had transformed Violet’s front yard into a full-blown ice cream shop. Tables and chairs were neatly arranged, complete with several people sitting around like real customers. Soft instrumental music flowed through the air, setting a gentle mood. The vendor stood inside an open minivan, serving ice cream in various flavors. The only difference? No one here had to pay to enjoy their cups.“Eric, this is…”Violet was completely stunned. She couldn’t comprehend how Eric had pulled all of this together in such a short time—right under her nose.“Hey! I want two large cups of chocolate ice cream for me and Doctor Marry!” Elise shouted, hooking her arm around the doctor as she walked past Violet and Eric. She dragged Doctor Marry to one of the customer tables.Eric smiled at his sister’s antics. Then he turned to Violet. “Wait here. I’ll get something for you.”He half-ran toward the minivan. Violet almost called out to him, but stopped herself.Eric returned with a medium-sized cup of

Seeing Violet stand frozen in place, Elise refused to waste the chance. She continued speaking.“I’m Eric’s younger sister. I study overseas. I came back for a short visit because I missed him too much and wanted to see him in person. And the day after tomorrow, I have to return to my campus.”Violet stayed silent. She only swallowed hard. Her emotions were a tangled mess, impossible to sort out.“If you don’t believe me, I can show you proof.” Elise took out her phone and held it out to Violet. “Look—this is my family photo. Eric and I are in the middle. This is my late mother, and this is my late father. See? I look just like this little girl here, right?” She blinked playfully.Violet said nothing, but she followed Elise’s lead. She studied Elise’s face, then shifted her gaze to the photo on the screen.“There’s more. Hold on.” Elise swiped through her phone, searching for another picture. “This is a photo of Eric and me when we were already grown up. It was taken before my birthda
