"Nice doing, business with you." Jonathan said and we both shook hands.

Then a call came in, I was scrolling through my phone as I left Conrad Technologies.

But as soon as I had Caleb's voice on the other end shaky and panicked, I knew something was wrong.

Caleb and I had been best friends since our elementary days and we both in the same pizza parlor and we walked Pizza Parlor.

"Thomas..... bro , I'm in big trouble."

"What happened ?"I asked already reaching for the double doors

"It's Elvis ....he's accusing me of stealing money from the register."

Again.

That crap of a guy.

He is now taking revenge on Caleb because of what happened days ago when he tried cajoling me to deliver free boxes of pizza to his girlfriend and pin the blames and bills on me , but I refused.

A thin smile spread on my lips.

"He's threatening to call the cops on me." Caleb rattled out.

I frowned. Caleb wasn't perfect, but a thief? No. I have known him too long for that. Elvis was always looking for someone to pay his failures on. Caleb was just the easy target.

"Stay there, I am coming"

I didn't waste time the pizzeria wasn't far, and I got there quicker than I thought possible.

Walking in , I felt the tension in the air—like everyone knew something was about to go down.

Elvis ,stood behind the counter, arms crossed, looking smug has ever. His father the real owner of the place , sat behind one of the corner booths, watching the scene unfold with an almost bored expression.

Caleb stood there ,eyes wide, hands trembling ,as Elvis yelled at him.

"You think you can just steal from me? From my father's business? You are fired ,man. And don't think about living until you pay what you owe."

I didn't even have to announce myself. The moment Elvis's eyes landed on me , his face twisted into something resembling a smirk, but it was his father's reaction, that made the hairs on my neck stand. The old man actually chuckled when he saw me.

"Ah, Thomas ,I see you have finally arrived. This should be interesting ."

Then he tilted his head.

"What's with the suit?"

I had no time to joke around, I was here for business.

I stepped up , putting myself between Caleb and Elvis.

"How much?" I asked, not in the mood for small talks

Elvis scoffed." What? You think you can just waltz in here and pay for his mistake."

I kept my voice steady ."How much?"

He pulled out his phone and read the number off the screen.

It wasn't a small amount. Definitely more than Caleb could afford. But before I could respond something odd happened. My phone buzzed in my pocket

I put it out and stated at the screen

~Level 1: Aura 3 Unlocked ~

~Objective: Resolve conflict by any means necessary.~

~Reward:$400,000~

~Additional Reward: Ownership of this property.~

~Bonus: Unlock a car of your choice.~

I blinked staring at the message that has just appeared on my phone.

This was another part of the game and I held myself to avoid screaming for joy.

I smiled confidently, and tapped the screen and setting whatever task it was offering.

Instantly a notification popped up—$100,000 has just been deposited into my account. My hear leaped for joy as I watched the numbers flashed on my screen.

Elvis didn't know any of this, of course. He was still watching me, arms crossed ,waiting for an answer.

"Done,"I said ,looking him straight in the eye "Check your account."

For a moment everyone just stared at me like I had lost my mind.

Elvis's father however didn't look surprise at all. If anything ,the small smile that tugged at his lips grew wider.

Elvis pulled out his phone ,his eyes narrowing at first ,then widening in disbelief as he stared at the screen.

"How...how the hell—"He stumbled over his words completely thrown.

I didn't bother explaining. Instead, I turned to glanced at Caleb, who still looked like ,he just couldn't believe what just happened.

"Let's get out of here."

But before we could move ,

Elvis's father stood up, his voice cut through the silence

"Wait a moment, Thomas."

I turned to face him , unsure of what he wanted

"Tell me that I'm dreaming ,boy? You just bought the place." He chuckled again, that same low , knowing sound. "I'm glad you did ,at least more money to gamble." He laughed and hit Elvis on the shoulder, who wasn't pleased to hear about this.

My heart pumped, as I pulled out my phone again. Sure enough,a new notification was waiting for me.

~Congratulations! Property ownership transferred~

~New Title: Owner~

~Slice Halves Pizzeria.~

~Bonus Objective Completed:

Unlock a vehicle. Select your prize ~

I couldn't even process it. I looked up at Elvis father who was now watching me with amusement.

"You are smarter than you look Thomas. Let's see what you can do with this place? Gambling time." He said almost jumping to his feet.

The room spun for a moment, everything blurring together. I now owned the pizzeria that once treated me like trash.

All eyes were on me,the workers now had a new owner and that was me!.

Caleb's voice bought me back to reality.

"Thomas... what the hell just happened?"

I laughed, shaking my head and thrusted my left hand into my pocket."I have no freaking idea."

But my phone buzzed again. This time ,it wasn't money or property. It was a selection screen—a list of cars, all lined up neatly waiting for me to pick one.

A scrolled through the options, my heart racing. Something sleek caught my eyes—a black sports car ,that look like it had come straight out from a dream.

With a quick tab ,I confirmed the purchase , and within moments another notification popped up.

~Car purchased successfully.

Delivery in 24 hours. ~

I pocketed the phone, still trying to wrap my head around everything. Caleb was staring at me, like I had just pulled off the heist of the century , but Elvis was fuming, his face red with anger.

"This isn't over," he spat glaring at me."You think you can just walk into and take over? My father might be impressed ,but I'm not."

I shrugged, "Honestly ,I don't care."

I turned my back on him, Caleb following me out of the door. As soon as we stepped outside, my glanced back at the pizzeria—the business I now somehow owned.

THOMAS.From the balcony of my $19m penthouse, the city was a silent glittering carpet stretched out below me.The tall buildings of New York city were only dark shapes against a foggy sky and the endless headlights on the road. The air had changed, becoming clean still and filtered. The air was that of someone who had finally clawed their way to the top and it cost a fortune to breathe. That someone was me. I got in through the sliding glass door and Caleb was sitting before the new laptop I had gotten him, his mouth wide open. His voice was raspy with emotion as he whispered, “ Bro. . “After a while he was able to look up from the screen and at me. “Is this real? For real, for real, real?” he blinked. “Caleb, it's real. All the last cent of it.” I approached and settled myself in the big armchair across from him. Under my weight the expensive leather sighed. “Use it, construct your own project. Do you remember our conversation about the future in that one-room apartment in do

THOMAS The bell over the door jingled. The tinny, depressing chime that used to make fun of my life whenever I arrived late for work was gone. It was broken, worn out and completely undetectable. There were still a lot of things here which remained unchanged though. My old misery was perfectly captured in the shop which looked exactly the same. The oily Formica counter smoothed by countless transactions that never happened to me. A Family Special that hadn't changed in ten years was still advertised on the faded sun-bleached menu signs and that smell too. The unavoidable oily scent of stale oregano, cheap tomato paste and burnt crust used to stick to my uniform like a second skin. I remembered one of my friends would wrinkle his nose and said I smelled like failure when I got home. I was different though and that made everything feel different. Instead of being heavy with desperation, the air felt charged with possibilities. The boy who had to smile while cleaning up othe

  • A Game of Power Chapter

When I left the hotel, the streets were silent and the cool night air felt like a second skin. I quickly inhaled it to calm my nerves. As Isabella's words were still ringing in my head I gripped the folder she had given me more tightly.Enemies are drawn to power. The usual hum of notifications had given way to an uncomfortable silence on the system. That was not consoling. To put it another way, it was like the quiet before a storm.I took some time to get home. My mind was racing as I strolled through the city's streets instead. Isabella's offer was alluring—almost alluring. However, I kept thinking that there would be conditions attached to accepting it, hazardous strings. And I wouldn't want that though.I paused at a 24-hour diner, drawn in by the aroma of grease and coffee. Except for a waitress who appeared to have seen better days and a couple of truckers at the counter, the place was largely deserted. I slid into a booth looked at the folder on the table and ordered a

  • Something Inviting

I leaned on the balcony railing and let the sounds of the gala fade into the distance, feeling the cool night air as if it were a slap in the face Below me, the city glistened like a sea of diamonds and I let myself take in its strength, promise and potential for a brief moment. But I kept thinking about the system's final caution: * Enemies are attracted to power. Be ready. * Enemies? That sounded absurd. I was just a man trying to push my way through this crazy system that kept presenting me with chances that would change my life. But the tension in my chest would not go away. As I continued to ponder the mysterious message, a quiet voice interrupted me." You appear to be a man who is always preoccupied."I turned around sharply. With an unreadable smile on her face and a glass of champagne in her hand, Isabella English was walking out onto the balcony I briefly lost consciousness as I stared at her gown glistening in the moonlight. She looked around the city leaning aga
