Chapter 16

By the time Dominic finished inspecting the medical room, Nick had already checked the time several times.

It was warm just a few hours ago.”“Things are about to get worse.”Dominic walked towards the thermometer.“Do you know how low the temperature will go?”“Minus fifty degrees.”Dominic stared at him.“Minus fifty?”Nick nodded.“That will be the temperature across most of the affected regions. Chapter 19The temperature continued to fall.Nick stood in the living room, watching the digital thermometer on the wall.Nineteen degrees.Eighteen.Seventeen.The numbers kept changing, and the drop was becoming faster than before.Outside, the sky had turned dark. The clouds covered almost everything, making the afternoon look like evening. People could still be seen moving along the roads, but there were fewer pedestrians than before.Nick picked up his phone and opened the news.Several news channels were now reporting the unusual weather conditions. Some described it as a sudden cold wave, while others suggested that the earthquake might have affected the atmosphere.Nobody had a proper explanation. One reporter was standing outside a hospital, wearing a thick jacket."We are receiving reports of an unusual temperature drop across several parts of Bellport City. Residents are advised to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Meteorologists are currently investigating the

Chapter 18The first earthquake had barely stopped when Nick's phone began ringing. He looked at the screen and saw Michael Romano's name.He answered immediately.“Michael?”“Nick, are you alright?”“I'm fine. Where are you?”“I'm in the underground cinema with my foreman. We were checking the final renovation work when the earthquake started.”Nick glanced towards the staircase leading to the lower floor.“Are you both alright?”“Yes. Nothing fell on us, but the shaking was strong enough to make us stop working. We heard something fall upstairs. Is everyone okay?”“Everyone is fine. Come upstairs. I want you and your foreman to stay inside the main building.”“Alright. We'll be there shortly.”The call ended.Nick slipped his phone into his pocket and turned towards Dominic.“Michael and his foreman are downstairs. They were inspecting the underground cinema when the earthquake happened.”“I'm glad they're alright,” Dominic replied.Anthony was still standing near the sofa, looking

Chapter 17Nick stood beside the living room window, watching the quiet estate.Everything appeared normal. The sky was clear, the roads were busy, and the distant buildings of Bellport City stood peacefully against the afternoon sun.It was difficult to imagine that everything would soon fall apart. He checked his watch again. The time was 2:15 p.m.Only a few hours remained before the apocalypse began.Behind him, Anthony was speaking with Dominic while Isabella helped Maria's grandmother settle into the house. Carla and Paolo had already found their rooms, and Maria was making arrangements to inspect the kitchen.Nick was glad everyone had arrived safely. He turned away from the window and walked towards the dining area.“Is there anything available to eat?” he asked one of the staff members.“Yes, sir. The kitchen has already been prepared, and there are several meals available.”“Good. Let everyone know they can have something to eat whenever they want.”“Yes, sir.”Nick went ups

I need you to do something for me," Dominic said as soon as the call connected.Nick opened the driver's door but waited before getting inside."I won't be coming to the hospital for a while. I need you to take charge of things until I return. Make sure the other doctors know that you're responsible for the daily operations."He paused, listening to the person on the other end."Yes, I know it's sudden, but something important has come up.
