Darius's eyes tracked the operative's hand as it moved again—this time toward a different location on his tactical vest. Another weapon. Another suicide attempt. These people were thoroughly prepared for failure.

But Darius was prepared for their preparations.

His hand shot out, gripping the operative's arm before it could reach whatever hidden tool was concealed there. With brutal efficiency, Darius yanked the entire tactical vest off the operative's body, tossing it aside where it landed with a heavy thud several feet away.

"No more tricks," Darius said coldly.

He proceeded to conduct a thorough search—patting down the operative's pants, checking his boots, running hands along his belt and waistband. He found and removed three more items: a small blade hidden in the boot lining, a razor sewn into the belt, and what appeared to be another suicide capsule concealed in a false button.
