“Oh for God’s sake,” Ava was already getting pissed.“Step aside,” she said and pushed past Axel, forcing her way into the house before gesturing for Ethan to walk in.Ethan walked into the house with Ava following behind him immediately, leaving Axel at the door for a moment before she quickly tried to recover from her thoughts and shut the door.She shut the door and turned to watch her guests.She caught herself watching just Ethan though, but she didn’t stop herself. Axel stood in the middle of her new apartment, clad in grey pajamas as she tried hard to convince herself it felt like home.It didn’t.Ava had gone out of her way to fix the place up before she closed from work for the day.The place was clean, modern, and thoughtfully arranged, but that was just about it, nothing about it felt unique to her, or to anyone, it was all just plain and bland.At least, while at the Villa, even if it also didn’t feel like it was home, a lot of things there felt personal, like there were stories behind them.Here though, there was literally nothing.The place had neutral walls, minimal furniture, lights that were bright enough to erase shadows but she was not feeling any comforting warmth from them.Nothing here bore her imprint yet, and there was still the fact that it was all temporary, so… she couldn’t even hope to create any memories or personalize anything in here.Everything was temporary.That was the word that kept circling in her head, temporary.
