Chapter 1
Let's divorce
Inside Avalon Bar, on the outskirts of the Nile city.
A young man clad in bargained clothes was busy cleaning up the counter to set up the place after it had been busy the previous night, bustling with customers. This had been the job he could get ever since, for years now. Though his salary was low, he still managed to work extra hours just to be able to keep his family intact and settle mostly his wife's bills. Fatigue was written all over his face, and even dark circles were around his eyes while his skin looked so pale, but none of it mattered as long as he was getting extra cash. While he was so engrossed in what he was doing, with sweat gushing out of his pores, a feminine voice echoed. “You must be Ethan Michael, right?” Ethan, the bartender, looked up after hearing the sound of footsteps approaching him. There, he saw a woman clad in a polyester suit, adorned in luxury, looking so exquisite walking towards him. Besides this, she was exuding a powerful aura like a battle warrior. Though any man would stare a hole into her or drool at such a sight, it didn't matter to Ethan. To him, no woman was as pretty as his wife. “Yes, I am. But I am sorry, we aren't open until night.” Ethan looked away and continued his work. However, what happened next shocked him even more. The woman suddenly bowed to him, a stark contrast to what he had expected. “Young master, I have finally found you. It's been so many years, and just when I had almost lost hope, I found you.” The woman who was looking strong-willed suddenly looked like she was paying full respect to him. Ethan was stunned; he stopped what he was doing to look at her, confusion brewing inside him as he furrowed his brows. “Young master? You have finally found me? What are you saying? As you can see, I am a bartender but nothing else. I am just trying to make ends meet and not make any trouble. Please consider using the door before my manager comes over and finds you.” Ethan frowned as she spoke. However, the woman was so determined and didn't budge. “Young master, you are the heir to Nexus Global Group, a conglomerate group worth billions. Please return with me. You don't have to keep doing such demeaning jobs, which are very degrading to your status.” The woman continued. How long had it been since she had been looking for him? So, of course, she was determined to convince him and bring him back with her. Ethan looked at her, utterly speechless. He had no memories of what this lady was talking about, even if he might try faking to believe her words. All he could remember was that three years ago he was found by his wife's father after he woke up from a coma. That man gave him a home, and thus he was able to marry and have a family now. What this woman was saying, none of it made sense at all. “I am sorry. You have mistaken me for someone else. You should leave right away, please, so I can finish my work in peace. Today is my wedding anniversary with my wife. I want to finish up quickly, go home, and celebrate with her. Please leave.” Ethan urged her. Even though he badly wanted to leave this job, give his wife a proper life, and become a capable husband, that wasn't enough to drive him to take on someone else's identity. “I know you don't believe me, but perhaps this can make you remember.” The lady had sadness glinting in her eyes as she walked over and gently placed a ring on the counter. “This ring was left for you by your mother. She wanted you to have it.” Ethan looked only to find a mysterious, ancient-looking ring that had strange markings carved around it. His eyes squinted at it, trying to understand what it was or meant, when the lady dropped a black card close to the ring. “The pin is your birthday. You can try using the card if you don't believe me.” Her eyes became red almost as if she wanted to cry. “It also has a secret number you can use to call me when you need my help. For now, I'll leave.” She turned and reluctantly walked out of the bar. As Ethan watched her, her words struck a chord in his chest. He picked up a ring and looked around it when he realized he had wasted so much time and there were just a few minutes left. “Shit!” He cursed and quickly took the ring and the card and put them into his pocket. Hastily, he took the towel to continue working when the doorbell rang. Ethan frowned, thinking it was someone else who had come to disrupt his work, but when he looked, he was shocked to see a woman who was clad in a suit, looking dignified, beautiful, and hourglass. “Amelia?” His dull eyes sparkled, but then he noticed she was holding hands with another man who was dressed in luxury and had dyed his hair white. He recognized who the man was. He was Logan Hale, a scion of one of the major top families in the city. This man has presumed to be just her business partner all this while, but now this? At once, a frown emerged on his face. Amelia Wilson was the woman he had been married to for three years now, and today was their wedding anniversary. Why was she holding another man intimately like they had been having an affair? Ethan immediately felt like his heart had been stabbed by a thousand needles. “Amelia, what's the meaning of this?” He asked, his teeth almost chattering in anger. “Ethan, you are here.” The woman named Amelia smiled and pulled away from the man to walk to the counter where Ethan was. “I have been promoted to the CEO of Star Crest. I don't think my status matches yours anymore, or if we can keep being husband and wife.” She said bluntly. “Huh?” Ethan felt like he didn't hear correctly. “It seems the punk has some ear deficiency.” Logan huffed as he tucked his hands in his pants, staring at Ethan disdainfully. Ethan glared at him before looking back at his wife. “Amelia, what are you saying?” He asked again. She frowned before replying. “I am so sorry for this, Ethan. I know it's a lot to take in, but it's for the best. I am now a CEO, while you are just a bartender in this lowly bar. I am afraid we have to part ways.” She then pulled out a few documents from her bag. “Sign this. Let's divorce, Ethan. It’s for the best for both of us.”Expand

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker The history
Ava stilled hearing his answer. She was unsure if she had reacted that way because she was shocked she was wrong or if it was because it meant that she was way off with her theory and the situation was much more worse than she thought.“I mean it was pretty close to what you described just now. I was attacked and shot up, I was actually the target, and they were trying to destroy the bulletproof integrity of the car,” he said then sighed.“But… It didn’t happen because I pissed anyone off. Well, at least, not today anyways.”Ava looked at him with confusion in her eyes. What did he mean by that? For how long has he been pissing people off?Had she been putting so much energy into keeping Alexander Cole blind that she didn’t realize that someone else was after him?If there were other people after him that he hadn’t told her about, just how many enemies had he accumulated? There were so many questions building up in her head, but she managed to push them down and just listen. She did

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker Wrong place, wrong time
“I don’t want to think the worst about what I saw, so my initial assumption was that you got caught in the middle of a shootout,” Ava began, telling him of the exact train of thought she had thought of while they were at Axel’s condo.“I am guessing it was just a ‘wrong place, wrong time’ situation, right?”“I mean, it happens, even in a city as safe as Brighton, bad things still happen. People die like that every day. Your car being armored is probably the only reason you’re alive.”Ethan looked at her for a while, and he was surprised by her assumption. The conversation of ‘what happened to the car?’ was something he was hoping to avoid, because he knew she was not going to let it rest.As much as he was pretty much her boss, she sometimes made it seem like they were on the same level or she was holding more authority than him.She would sometimes talk to him like a friend, and other times, she would scold him like a mother scolding her only child, and this situation was the kind of

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker The target
Ethan leaned back against the edge of the table in the center of the living room, his arms folded loosely. His posture was relaxed, but it was this deceptively relaxed pose he had learned in the past that was now a part of him. It really helped him in moments when he was in danger, looking that relaxed would always scare the trouble away before it got to him. But Ava knew that look. She had actually been the one that shared it with him. It was something her dad had been teaching her to do when they were still young highschoolers. She had never been able to master it, but Ethan did, and he didn’t with lessons from an amateur that was learning herself. So just one look at him, and she knew he was trying to hide a lot of questions in his head. After a little pause, Ethan resumed speaking again.“What if it wasn’t a coincidence?” he continued. “What if he’d already been tracking her movements? He might have even had us followed from day one after I took her from him at that wedding of

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker This isn't romance
Axel was still doing the math in her head when she realized that it was going to cost him a lot to acquire the back, not to mention the fact that they had no real reason to sell off the company. The bank had been so optimized that they had barely ever made any losses in the past half decade, so convincing them to sell would be next to impossible. It would involve probably a double payment of what the company is worth. The scale of the cost of such a decision was heavy, and it hit Axel like a delayed shockwave. For a moment, just a brief moment, her mind betrayed her. A thought slipped into her head uninvited, but it felt dangerously warm to think of, and she couldn’t stop the thought.‘Does that mean I matter that much to him?’ she thought to herself as a warm smile began to form on her face.Ava caught the shift with the side of her eyes instantly and scoffed.“Don’t read into it,” she said firmly. “This isn’t romantic.”Axel flushed. “I didn’t…”“You did,” Ava cut in, not giving Ax

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker Beautiful eyes
“Master Ethan,” Ava cleared her throat at the first chance she got, so she could remind him of the need to return home without interrupting their conversation in a disrespectful manner.“What is it?” Ethan raised his head to her.“You have work to get back to tomorrow sir,” Ava said.“You should consider rounding up here so you can be well rested for tomorrow’s activities, sir.”She didn’t want to have to use this sentence, because she didn’t want him going back to the office, at least, not for another week. With her statement just now, she had basically given him ammo to use against her when she suggested he should stay home for a while to let things cool off.But it was either that or she would be unable to get the information she wanted on the shoot out from him.Ethan looked at Axel for a moment then nodded.“I will have to leave now, Ava is right,” he said as he got up.“Thank you for taking out time to check in on me, I really appreciate it… Ethan,” she paused before saying his

The Lost Heir: The Rise Of Ethan Walker beyond all odds
When she finished, silence settled between them again for a moment before Ethan finally cleared his throat and spoke.“I can intervene,” he said with a low but audible tone.Axel looked at him at the point like she was confused, trying to figure out where his response was coming from.Ethan sat up in his spot on the couch and spoke a little clearly.“I can intervene with whatever is going on at your place of work… if you want me to, of course,” he added that last part to assure her that there was no pressure.Axel looked up at Ava that was already looking at them at this point, still at the window, and Ethan gently held her cheek, softly directing her eyes back to him.“Don’t worry about Ava, you don’t need her permission for this,” Ethan said, knowing that if Ava gave Axel a single look, Axel will lose every inclination to say yes, so he pulled her eyes down to his to make sure her decision here was her decision fully.“No!” Axel shook her head immediately, removing his hand from her
