CHAPTER 14

The phone on a bed kept beeping loudly, disturbing his sleep.

He had tried as much as he could to ignore the constant beeping from the phone and get some good rest, but it seemed impossible as the phone kept beeping time and time again without any stop.

Ethan lazily stretched his body as he picked up the phone half awake with his eyes partially open.

He answered the call and place the phone to his ear while staring up at the ceiling

“Hello,” Ethan said in a coarse and lazy voice.

“Hello, Doctor, good morning,” a familiar voice said on the line.

Ethan somehow recognized the voice at once to be that of Mr. David. He took a deep breath and conversed with him.

“Hello, Mr. David, good morning,” Ethan calmly replied to the greeting.

Even though he was speaking calmly, he was somehow annoyed at being woken from his sleep by Mr. David. He wondered what kind of news he had that would make him call him that early morning and unknowingly disrupt his sleep

“Please watch the news now; you are currently trending everywhere, and all the media stations are talking about you,” Mr. David said hurriedly.

Ethan did not really get what Mr David was saying, but after a few seconds he was finally able to process the whole statement

“Me? … Trending? … Why? … Where? … How?” Ethan asked all the questions at once in astonishment as he sat up on his bed, fully opening his eyes and shaking himself to reality, processing what he had just heard from Mr David

“You are currently trending on almost all of the national media stations on television. A clip coupled with some images of Mr. Reginald Frost kneeling in front of you yesterday made its way to the media, and somehow everyone is talking about it. You can watch the news to confirm this.” Mr David explained

By this time Ethan was already up from his bed and on his way to the living room. He quickly switched on his television and sat down on his couch, yawning loudly.

“They are currently talking about you because they don't really know who you are and are wondering why Mr. Frost came to kneel down in front of you begging to be helped.

It has gained media attention nationally, and almost everyone is talking about it, and that is simply because Mr. Frost is the owner of the biggest conglomerate in the entire country, and everything about him could be used for news.” Mr. David continued.

Ethan took another deep breath as he shook his head slowly

“Now I'm going to be on the tops of the media, and everyone is going to have their eyes on me. This is clearly the kind of attention I wanted to avoid, but that man has denied me that with the scene he caused yesterday.” Ethan replied hesitantly.

The television was already on, and the first thing Ethan saw on the television was himself standing on the stairs while Mr. Reginald Frost knelt down in front of him when his hands raised, holding a black card, an obvious video of what had happened yesterday at the entrance to the conference hall

“You know what, Mr. David, thank you very much for this information. I think I know what to do. Let me give you a call back soon,” Ethan said and hung up the phone immediately without waiting for a response from Mr. David.

Opening his call logs, he realized he had received seven missed calls from another unknown number prior to the call he received from Mr. David.

Not knowing who the caller was and not bothering to check who it was, he quickly dialed Mr. Reginald Trust's number and placed your phone to his ear again.

The phone was answered on the first ring, and somehow this time the phone wants directly to Mr Reginald Frost

“Hello, good morning, Doctor. How are you doing today?” Mr Frost greeted Ethan on the phone with a hint of happiness in his voice

“I'm fine, sir. I just woke up to see myself on the news with you.” I know you are very influential in the society and would have a voice with their media in the country. I really do not want to be in the books of any of the media, and I would like to plead with you to let them recall all the videos and stop showing them. I don't really feel comfortable seeing myself on television.” Ethan explained quickly to Mr. Frost, trying to sound as polite as he could.

“Sure thing, Doctor. I will quickly arrange that for you. I'm so sorry for all the inconveniences this has caused you. I have just seen the video a few minutes ago myself, and I am taking steps to address it,” Mr. Frost replied.

“Thank you, sir. I really appreciate it,” Ethan said.

He hung up the phone after that and heaved a sigh.

He stared at the wall clock; it was a few minutes past six in the morning. He was now wide awake, and there was nothing he could do about it.

He opened his phone to go through his call logs again, and that was when he saw the unknown number for the second time.

He hesitantly called the number, this time putting his phone on loudspeaker and lying on his back on the couch with a grin on his face.

The phone, after ringing twice, was answered.

“Hello,” a feminine voice said from the other end.

“Hello. Good morning,” Ethan said, unsure of who it was she was speaking to.

“Good morning, Doctor Ethan. How are you doing?” The feminine voice asked.

“I am doing great, thank you. I saw your missed calls on my phone. May I know who I am speaking to, please?” Ethan inquired grumpily.

“Oops, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. This is Emily Winsor.” The lady replied.

“Oh.” That was all Ethan could say.

“Do you have a minute? I would like to talk to you,” Emily asked.

“I am listening, please,” Ethan replied.

For an unknown reason, he felt very grumpy this morning and just wanted to be left alone.

Following the style Ethan used in answering, Emily also changed her style of speaking, thinking Ethan was mad at her

“I would like to us to meet to talk over a cup of coffee if that is okay with you. Look, i know we somehow started on the wrong foot, but we can talk it over and discuss some important things” Emily said, sounding apologetically
