A slap landed on David's face, and he felt his cheeks flush with pain. The sting lingered as he stood before the irate customer, his eyes cast downward in shame. He had been rushing to deliver the goods, and in his haste, he had broken the customer's expensive chandelier. Now, he was facing the wrath of the angry woman.
"Do you have any idea how much it cost, you lowly thing?" she yelled, her voice echoing through the room. David winced, feeling a surge of embarrassment and regret. "I'm sorry, ma'am," he muttered, the words feeling hollow even to his own ears. The woman scoffed, her expression incredulous. "Sorry? You think sorry will get us back our chandelier? You need to pay for it!" She folded her arms across her chest, her eyes narrowing as she looked him up and down. "Can you even afford it?" she sneered, her tone dripping with disdain. David felt a pang of self-consciousness as he glanced down at himself. He was wearing a pair of worn-out jeans with a hole in one knee, a relic from his meager wardrobe. He had dressed hastily that morning, not thinking much of his appearance. But now, standing before this wealthy customer, he felt like a beggar. The woman's gaze lingered on him, her expression a mixture of disgust and disappointment. David's shame deepened, and he felt like he was shrinking under her scrutiny. He knew he had to make things right, but the weight of his poverty and mistakes kept crushing him. "I'll pay for it, ma'am," he promised, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll find a way." The woman's expression turned calculating, her eyes gleaming with a sinister light. "I'll need to document this," she said, pulling out her phone. "Say cheese," she sneered, snapping a photo of David's humiliated face. David felt a surge of indignation, but he remained frozen in place, his eyes fixed on the woman's cold gaze. How could she be that cruel "You dare not try to escape me," she warned, her voice dripping with malice. "I'll find you, no matter where you go until you pay every dime" With a swift motion, she slammed the door shut, the sound echoing through the hallway like a prison gate clanging shut. David felt a shiver run down his spine as he stood alone in the hallway, the woman's words ringing in his ears. He blinked back tears, his eyes stinging with frustration and shame. He was a grown man, after all, and he couldn't afford to break down like a child. David doesn't even know how long he has been suffering because his memory began three years ago. It was like came down from heaven directly because he had no memory of his last life, who his family were or who he used to be. All he knew was that he carries a gunshot scar in his skull. With a heavy heart, David turned away from the door and began to trudge down the hallway, his footsteps echoing through the empty space. As David trudged away from the woman's apartment, his phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see his boss's name flashing on the screen. "David, where are you?" his boss barked. "You were supposed to deliver those packages hours ago. Get your ass back to the office, we have more things to deliver." “I'm so sorry,I'm now on my way” David apologized profusely for the delay and rushed back to his scooter. He quickly got on and drove back to the office. When he arrived at the office, he was given a new package to go deliver. He expertly navigates his way through cars and pedestrians on the busy street. He stopped the scooter when he got to the destination where the delivery was to be made. It was a nice, expensive neighborhood. His mouth dropped open as he stared at the posh and luxurious houses in the neighbourhood. He marveled at the beauty of wealth. He felt ashamed of how he looked, unpresentable and poor in that kind of neighbourhood As he approached the house he was to deliver to,he pressed the gate bell, and the door swung open immediately. He entered the compound, making his way towards the front door. "Hello?" he called out, hoping someone would answer so he could get the package signed for. But there was no response. David shrugged and dropped the package on the floor, pulling out his phone to take a picture as proof of delivery. That's when he felt something cold pressed against his head. David's heart skipped a beat as he froze, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios. What was happening? How did his life get to that stage? Was he going to die? He began to plead with whoever was behind him, his voice shaking with fear. "Please, don't kill me. I'm just a delivery man. I don't have any money or valuables on me." But instead of a response, David felt a sharp pain as the person behind him hit him hard with the gun. He collapsed to the floor, everything going dark. When David slowly regained consciousness, he was met with a sharp pain in the back of his head. He groaned, his hand instinctively reaching up to touch the tender spot. He had not even expected to wake up alive, and the fact that he had was a miracle. As he looked around, he realized that he was now inside the house. His eyes widened in fear as he spotted a gun on the floor beside him. Without hesitation, he picked it up and threw it away, as if the very presence of the gun was a threat to his life. David's gaze fell upon his hands and clothes, and he was met with a sight that made his blood run cold. They were stained with blood. His mind reeled as he struggled to make sense of the situation. “What was going on? How did I end up here?” he asked himself As he stood up, panic began to set in. He knew he had to get out of the house fast before whatever that was happening would implicate him. He has no one to be there for him,so he can't even afford to be in trouble. His eyes darted around the room, taking in the surroundings. And then, his gaze landed on the most unimaginable thing. There was a woman and her two kids lying dead in the living room. His eyes widened in fear and be swallowed hard. Was somebody's trying to frame him?

"Boss, we've got a hint!" Marco exclaimed, bursting into Gabriele's study with a tablet in hand. Gabriele's eyes snapped up from the papers on his desk, his face darkening with anticipation. "You found him? Where is the son of a bitch?"Marco's face lit up with a mixture of excitement and determination. "It seems he's been hiding in plain sight, sir. We've got reports of him popping up all over the internet as the CEO of a company."Gabriele's grip on the edge of his desk tightened, his knuckles whitening. "A company?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. "What kind of company?"Marco's fingers flew across the screen of the tablet. "From what we've gathered, it's a legitimate business. Looks like he's trying to blend in, keep a low profile."Gabriele's face twisted in a mixture of amusement and contempt. He scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. "That's the best he's got? I can see that Xavier doesn't fear me enough."His expression turned cold and calculating. "Tell the men t

The ride up was tense. The mirrored walls of the elevator reflected Ari's distraught face, her eyes were red-rimmed. Xavier stood a few feet away, his arms crossed over his chest, a granite expression on his face. She could feel his quiet fury simmering and she fought the urge to shrink even further into herself. Finally, the doors slid open on the top floor. The space was nothing like the bustling, colorful offices she was used to. The doors opened to reveal a hallway so quiet you could hear the hum of the air conditioning. Ari’s mouth fell open slightly as he took in the sight, polished marble floors, sleek modern art on the walls, and soft, indirect lighting that created an atmosphere of understated elegance.Xavier pushed the double door open and they both stepped in. The space was just as breathtaking as the hallway. Floor-to-ceiling windows dominated the wall behind a massive, dark wood desk, offering a panoramic view of the bustling city below. The skyline was a masterpiece, a

A week had passed since Xavier's life changed for the better. He had bought a mansion in the heart of the city of New York and now owned one of his favorite cars, a Mercedes. He had a new wardrobe, a new haircut, and a sense of confidence. He was no longer David, the man who lived in the cracks of the city. He was now Xavier, a Mafia Lord on the rise."This one," Peter said, holding up a deep charcoal suit with subtle pinstripes. "It'll look sharp for your first day. It's got a classic cut, but the fabric is modern. It's a statement piece, without being too flashy."Xavier nodded, muttering a quiet "Thank you." He was still getting used to the whole switch in his life."Nervous?" Peter asked, his voice softer than usual.Xavier sighed, looking at his reflection in the full-length mirror. "Yeah, a little. I mean, weeks ago, I was sleeping on the cold floor of my apartment. Now... I'm the CEO of a company I know nothing about." He shook his head. "I have no idea how any of this works."

Gabriele slammed his fist against the leather-wrapped steering wheel, the sound muffled inside the luxurious sedan. He watched from a distance as a small fleet of boats crisscrossed the ocean in search of a body that wasn't there. His frustration was a venomous cloud, thick and suffocating. This was the third time they had searched that same night, and still, nothing. He'd used every connection, pulling in his own men and bribing the NYPD to search for a missing person, giving them free rein to drag the ocean for hours."Boss," his right-hand man, Marco, said from outside, his voice hesitant. "We've gone over every inch. We can't find his body. Either he sank, and the current took him, or..." Marco trailed off, not daring to voice the other, more terrifying possibility."Or what? Escaped?" Gabriele’s eyes, cold and sharp, bore into Marco's. "For three years, we couldn't find a trace of him. Not a whisper, not a single lead. And now that he's finally surfaced, he slips away again?" He
