Huffing, Denver quickly ran over to check on Catherine.

She collapsed to her knees and was just in shock from the dagger wound.

The dagger was coated with a paralyzing poison, so she wasn’t able to move freely, either.

The effects would have been worse if not for the lingering traces of the millennium herb in her body.

Denver took out a red pellet and fed it to her. She was able to barely swallow it.

She also had a red pellet with her, for Sheryl had given one to her before coming to the fortress.

However, she was not in a position to move now.

“I will take it out,” Denver held the dagger, but Catherine cried, though only slightly.

She was clearly terrified to even look at her shoulder.

“It’ll be alright,” Denver covered her eyes and then pulled the dagger out.

He didn’t have the time to treat her wound as the underlings of Tyron caught up with them.

There were nearly a dozen of them.

Anticipating a drunken man’s next move was difficult, but Denver could see the expressions in these m

Back to the present. At Rose Port’s beach, Denver opened his eyes and stared at the cloudless blue sky.Abbie’s face momentarily appeared in the sky, though only vaguely.“The red-haired one… I was unsure before, but now I’m certain of it. She’s the one who erased my memories,” Denver’s eyes turned sharp. “I didn’t realize it back then, but… did she visit Catherine’s pool?”Just thinking about it made him feel angry.“I was disappointed when I heard that the underground city Crimia was destroyed, but it seems Abbie Frankfurt is still alive. If I want to get all my memories back, I might have to face her again.”Just by being in the waters she was in for a few minutes, Denver was able to see her image back then. So, he believed that facing her directly would likely resolve his memory loss issue.“From the information I’ve gathered, she seems to be a pureblooded vampire,” Denver thought. “How the hell did I fall in love with such a woman? Not just me, but… even First Son Mickey had fall

On that weekend, Denver, Richard, and Diane came to Catherine’s pool.Because they had priorly informed her, she kept the evening slot free for the family, even though the traffic peaked during these hours.“Where is Mom?” Catherine asked.“She didn’t come, but she prepared food for us,” Richard said, smiling.“Did she get tired from cooking?” Catherine sighed. “That’s not normal. I think she should get her health checked.”“She’s getting fine after resting a bit,” Diane retorted. “So there’s no need to waste money for medical tests… is what Mom said.”“Why are you here?” Catherine asked her, shocking both Richard and Denver.“I’m here not because I wanted to,” Diane pointed her thumb at her dad.“What’s bothering you two these days?” Richard asked. “Instead of getting along, you are acting like members of different construction crews.”“She doesn’t like that I’m working as a masseuse, Dad,” Diane said. “She thinks I’m sleeping around with the customers.”Richard’s eyes widened. “Cath

After Diane left in the Benz car, Denver went to the construction site.A truck was unloading the cement bags, which were being thrown outside and being stacked together in the makeshift garage. As Denver entered the site, Denver heard Richard’s voice. It was unlike Richard to shout like this, except when managing the other workers. So, Denver was a bit worried.“All of my crew has experienced members. How can you lower our prices?” Richard argued with the new manager.“You’re only laying the foundation, so twenty dollars an hour is pretty good,” the manager indifferently said.Richard clenched his fists. “Laying the foundation is the most crucial and challenging part. And you talk as if it’s the easiest part.”“Wait, you said that all your crew members are experienced,” the manager was reading a document that list the crew details. “But this guy named Denver has only one year of experience.”“Yes, but Denver is quite talented, and he’s the most hardworking out of all of us,” Richard

“Drop her at work and then come to the site,” Richard told Denver and went on foot.Denver waited in the old car.A few minutes later.Diane walked out of the house, neatly dressed up. After putting on the makeup, she looked much better.Denver pushed the door open. However, Diane did not enter the car.“Are you still mad about what happened yesterday?” Denver asked. “How long are you going to hold onto that?”“If you give me the money back, I will enter the car,” Diane replied.Denver paused for a moment and said, “I can give you the money, but then I’ll tell Uncle about it.”Diane glared. “Do you take me for a fool?”“I ask you the same question, Diane,” Denver replied in a soft voice.Diane didn’t say anything.“How do you think I felt when your friends laughed at me, and you did nothing to stop them, much less correct their attitude?” Denver asked. “Are you behaving like someone who’s going to marry me? You tell me.”“If your dad tells you all of a sudden that you’re going to marr

Catherine had come to her pool property and was getting everything ready. Her father’s words, ‘tell me what you want,’ kept coming back to her mind and distracted her very much.“Even if I said it out loud, would anything have changed?” she shook her head. “No. I want him to come to me without you telling him a word, Dad. Think of it as foolishness or selfishness or whatever it is… I can’t express my feelings after you all have put me in such a shitty situation.“How embarrassing it would be if I tell anyone that he comes into my dreams almost every night. He doesn’t come to me in real life anymore, but he never leaves in the dreams. It’s so fucking annoying!“Does he at least think of me before sleeping, or did he set his mind on marrying Diane already? He hasn’t seen even ten percent of her shades yet. I hope he realizes that and tells my dad that he wants me instead. But all this sounds like a daydream to me!”Just then, a tall young lady entered the property. She seemed the same a

The next morning.Subrina came downstairs and saw Denver cleaning the hall with a broom. She unlocked his room door. When he was about to enter, she blocked his path. “Give me the money. 2500 dollars.”“I’ll give you, but then I’ll tell Uncle,” he replied.Subrina gritted her teeth. “You can just keep it a secret.”“I can’t. I’m keeping a list of every dollar I earned and every dollar I spent,” Denver said. “It’s for our family’s future.”“You’ve learned how to talk nicely, Denver,” Subrina snorted. “I’ll give you that, but..” she grabbed his shirt collar. “If you make my daughter cry again for whatever reason, I’ll make you regret it.”Denver’s expression didn’t change one bit. “Which daughter?” he asked.Subrina’s expression changed, and she let go of his collar.Denver walked past her, and she didn’t stop him. After he shut the door, Subrina walked toward the kitchen with a frown on her face.
